DBZ
Sailor Moon I saw as a kid on TV. First anime I got online with nip speak and sub was Fruit Basket
This was the only anime in the comedy theme that I have "sincere laughs" and had fun watching. I don't know if it survives the test of time but others I've seen are far from achieving the level of non sense
Of all the gruesome things that happened on this VHS tape, the only time I covered my eyes was the part where Julia undresses at Shin's palace. I was maybe around six or seven years old.
I'm 90% sure this was the first anime I watched, but part of me wonders if it might have been Daimos (AKA Starbirds) or Nausicaa (AKA WotW). So if nothing else it was my first anime that wasn't localized half to death.
Sailor Moon/Candy Candy/UFO Robot Grendaizer
They all were on TV almost one after another.
Try MagiPoka then.
Meh, most jokes were pretty flat. The only funny joke was Salaryman gag
youtube.com
Speed Racer
Pokemon does not count
does the last airbender count
Higurashi
As I said before It was really funny to me in 2007, maybe It's not like that anymore...
Thanks I'll watch
Hellsing
The earliest vivid memory of my life is watching voltron.
Kampfer because when I was younger I was really into genderswap stuff. Ironically enough, I didn't turn out as a tranny or a crossdresser.
Aside from dubbed saturday morning stuff like Pokémon, Yugioh and Sailor Moon, the first anime I watched was Lucky Star. I had read a lot of manga at that point so I actually managed to recognize some of the references.
that one show about some girl and a guy living together with a talking cat and a flying baby
We're assuming digimon/pokemon/ect doesn't count? I think it would be sailor moon then.
Original American run of Pokemon.
I can't remember chronologically but SM/DBZ/Pokemon/Digimon/Flint the Time Detective/Shinzo, generally shit around that time.
youtube.com
Owned the VHS collection.
Hatsune miku. And unlike most of the Moestuff protagonists,Miku can wear a bikini... by 1000 vp in Project Diva.why is it so expensive to unlock her bikini in Project Diva series?
Naruto
If we don't count tv anime like Dragonball, then it's probably Death Note. It doesn't feel right, but on the other hand I can't think of anything that I've seen before that.
Ironically, I dropped the anime because I preferred reading the manga.
either sailor moon, pokemon or kiki. For some reason I watched kiki a lot
Not counting the usual suspects, it would be Golden Boy.
I was like three watching Toonami as a kid and not understanding what the hell anime is, but the first anime I try to remeber watching was either Spirited Away or Cowboy Bebop.
Actually now that I think of it, it could as well have been Evangelion. It felt interesting to me because there was a cool Linkin Park AMV about it.
I'm not too sure about it though.
This was really scary
Rozen maiden. Suiginto best doll
Baka To Testo THE GOAT
...
If your answer isn't 1980's Astro Boy, you're a fucking numbnut and most likely a poser.
My first anime was Speed Racer which came out in the 60s, because that's what Cartoon Network showed in the 90s.
Astroboy or Star Blazers. Maybe Battle of the Planets, it was a long time ago.
Zeta Gundam, my dad bought CD collection and I was forced to watch it with him
Dubbed on TV? Pokemon and Cardcaptors
Subbed? Narutaru (thought it was this Naruto show people were recommending)
Cowboy Bebop
then Evangelion
then FLCL
then Kill la Kill
then Space Patrol Luluco
Sailor Moon
Not counting mainstream stuff that ran on local TV it was this. Followed by Gantz, Bleach and One Piece.
Earliest anime I can remember watching casually on TV was Rayearth
Earliest anime I can remember going out of my way download online in Japanese was Wolf's Rain.
yup, this was technically an anime
Seto no Hayanome dubbed
I learned how to draw as a kid so I could draw Sango
Can't find it.
If I'm lucky someone passing by might know it.
What I remember is that it was a harem, in the mc's harem there was a ninja a magical girl etcs.
In one episode one turn into a nurse, in another they are in a hot spring.
The MC's mother was also pushing hard for her son to have a harem.
Still best girl
looks pretty aesthetic, reminds me of this
Also it had 4-6 episodes. It seemed to be an oav from a serie where the magical girl was the MC
Same designer. Keita Amemiya.
no way. I just though the motif felt vaguely similiar and felt dumb for even posting it
Attack on Titan. I've come a long way since then.
Used to be obsessed with them when I was a kid
These guys looks really wimpy.
I'd like to change my answer. watched like half a season of astro boy at my parents' friend's house.
Yeah, he also did some stuff for the Onimusha games, shin megami tensei iv, hagane and a bunch of Kamen Rider stuff. The Zeiram franchise Iria's from also started out as a live action movie.
Why? It's an anime.
Been wanting to play the game for a while now.
I believe he is insinuating that it's heavily altered past the point of recognizably due to the 4kids dub.
Nice boat...
Right, like cutting out the "James with tiddies" episode.
Does Hatsune Miku count?
NO
Strike Witches back when Crunchyroll hosted fan subs.
Technically DBZ, but the first one I watched while actually "knowing" it was anime was Happy Lesson.
Anons who say Hatsune Miku, or TTGL, or SnK - are you, like, very young or you didn't grow with anime somehow?
I don't mean it in an offensive way, just confused seeing such relatively recent things alongside Sailor Moon, Dragonball or Speed Racer.
They're probably baiting. Yea Forums loves to yell at newfags.
This was my 2nd
Probably some Saturday morning shit from the late 90s like Pokemon or Digimon. God, I feel old.
Ginga Nagareboshi Gin at 4-5 years old. Made an impression, to put it lightly.
Good times. I remember being in Gamestop and finding that shitty fighting game for like 5 bucks in the bargain bin. Bought it with my own money when I was 11
Always a possibility, though
look more like a bait...
Well, first dubbed one was Pokemon tho I never knew at the time that it was anime. So the first subbed one was DearS, it was good
Lurk more or go back to .
If you don't count kids shows like Pokemon, DBZ, or Saint Seiya.
Looking back I have no idea what drew me to it.
I didn't even know that had an adaptation. The local library across the street from my middle school had several volumes of the manga... back in 2007...
Was I complaining at all? I don't think so. Only asked politely at what age they started to get into anime. Why you have to be so agressive?
probably dragon ball or case closed or something.
the first anime i willingly downloaded was Soul Eater though
ROBOTECH
CRUSH GEAR
WOOOOAAAAAAHH CRUSH GEAR
Either Astro Boy or Dragon Ball. I can't really remember which one.
The one that started everything for me
Watched High School of the Dead at some friend's house. Went home and looked for the shower episode so I could masturbate to it.
Never looked back since
I am very young and very new.
This is responsible for making me such a pervert.
is that the arabic op?
My mum used to rent Astro Boy episodes on VHS for me when I was 4.
It's her fault I'm like this.
Succubus is still best girl
season 3 when
These two motherfuckers right here
Without counting the ones on TV, Trinity Blood
Feudal Combat?
I bought that at a used games store not long ago. The attacks are pretty predictable and you can't do that much with the combos. But I love the cheesy, puffy early 2000s CG animation in that thing.
The first conscious anime. I only did some Pokemon earlier and maybe some Miyazaki on TV
Crayon shinchan. He is a shota who deserves this trouser.
OG
Yea that's the one. My favorite thing about it was all the cinematic finishers
And it was a girl the on who made me watch it
Pokeyman
but if you mean anime that isn't just a shameless commercial for toys, then it was Rozen Maiden because old/b/ told me to
Technically Moomin as a 3 year old kid, but the first show I watched that I recognised as anime was Girls Bravo. It made my weewee hard.
Knowing that it was a japanese cartoon? One Piece.
Else Dragon ball.
Ah that would be Trigun
youtu.be
I remember beng forced to watch gundam seed with my brother many many years ago.
This or pokémon
DB or Maison Ikkoku.
>being able to remember your first anime
DBZ
But Darker Than Black was the first anime I recognised as 'anime'
Don't even remember which came first. It was either Patlabor Mobile Police,Ghost in the Shell 95' or the 1994 Baki ova.
Excel Saga.
dragon ball when in 2003
Either the adventures of Nils Holgerson or the Moomins cause that's what played in the mornings on channel 1
Might have been yuyu hakusho or pokemon cause there was anime on TV since I was 0 and I can't possibly rememebr which one it was.
I picked out some Yu Gi Oh vhs around 2004 or 5. Then Pokemon on TV. Then Nichijou as my first "conscious" anime.
MAAAAAAAAAA CUUUUUUU ROSS
I'm turning 30 on March 15th ;_;
I can't watch it any more because of how much it deviated from the manga.
Rozen Maiden.
Hinaichigo BEST girl
I feel like this would be better to watch after you've seen all the stuff it parodies first
I wonder if it's even true; how could anyone want to watch this without being brain-washed by japanese weirdness for years before that point?
This on Australian television
Sailor Moon dubbed on TV on early Saturday mornings, first anime I bought was Akira or Ghost in The shell (I think the first one I watched in Japanese was Armitage III which a friend bought when he was in England)
this.
specifically the episode where frieza transforms into his second form
based and hiraikotsupilled
I was only six
the alien scene still haunts me
I watched it just after Death Note, Haruhi, Code Geass and NGE. It was great.
The jokes and parodies are funny by themselves.
First anime: Pokemon, Digimon and Dragon Ball
First manga: One Piece
Entry-level pleb, I don't give a fuck. Naruto was cool
Well, these are better baits for an innovent western child to get into horrible ways of japanese cartoons. Lucky Star is merly a sound of the trap's door locking behind your back at this point.
Either Sailor Moon, Pokemon or DBZ.
DESU is best and you know it
Suginto also good
Stinku Teabitch worst doll
fucking same, watching this without know what the FUCK a gundam was was all kinds of confusing
But, first anime I watched while it aired...must've been K-On or Monogatari, something in 2009.
Very nice taste sir.
I was autistic enough to make OCs from this. Those were dark times
God that intro was both really lame and way too fucking hype at the same time.
Am I old?
Tenchi Muyo. Kind of surprised no one has mentioned it yet.
This, I can even say that the first episode I watched of it was when Ash caught caterpie
I'm surprised this is the only mention of Akira. From what I remember that is pretty much the only anime to air on normal TV in the mid 90s in England, so I assumed that would've been quite a few people's introduction.
pic related and Zoids
I used to see the books around all the time in the public library. I didn't know they ever made a TV show of that.
Didn't the author put up a shit show claiming J.K. Rowling plagiarized her early work?
First one I actually made an effort to watch.
Speed Racer on VHS
Dubbed TV anime that apparently doesn't count
>Pokemon
>Digimon
>Yu-gi-oh
>Beyblade
>Cardcaptor
>Sailor Moon
>DBZ
>Inuyasha
>Cybersix
My first "real" anime was likely Zero no Tsukaima.
There was no going back after.
On TV? Something from Locomotion, Evangelion or that one about the elves getting naked, I never knew how it was called.
From a PC? R.O.D TV, my brother used to download stuff and watch it and I tagged along.
From my own PC? Dokuro-chan or Bleach, don't exactly remember the first one but I watched both all on Youtube back then.
I don't remember about Emily Rodda claiming anything like that (someone did for sure).
It was trippy reading the library books and then seeing it on the TV as a kid
Shingeki no Titan
First anime was probably Pokemon. But I didn't start paying attention to anime until high school with FMA
Not counting saturday morning dubs and inuyasha.
I wonder if they are planning on doing a remaster for this one, the anime never had a conclusion if I recall correctly and Dai appeared in the last shonen jump game.
Kill la Kill.
I can't believe that it's been 13 years since then.
>being 10 years old and watching rurouni kenshin on toonami
does it get any cooler than this
youtube.com
>going to blockbuster and renting the movie
Either this or death note, currently a wan piss fag
>currently a fag
Ftfy.
I know right Bernd
You can't even imagine my mindblow
heck yeah battle of the planets
Still hoping for help
youtube.com
When I was kid, I downloaded this because I knew how to pirate ROMs, but not anime, not even the 4kids shit.
Minami-ke
Not counting the obvious digimon, dragonball etc. It was Inuyasha
I even liked the use of CGI
Yeah, must have been thinking of a different author.
I also thought it was funny because I lived near a town called Deltona when those books came out. Just one letter off!
>going to blockbuster and renting the movie
I used to that with my dad until he left us
I still have the second ending downloaded.
With Dragon ball, Saint Seiya and Street Fighter 2 V.
apart from tv ones? either dokuro-chan, azumanga daioh or clannad. i can't recall tbqh but i remember that Yea Forums was a huge influence since i didn't understand english that well as a kid and honestly just watched them because of the memes. oh, and i watched whatever was uploaded on youtube cuz i didn't know better.
I'm older than most of Yea Forums but I can't be the only one.
the moomins of course.
Based and thispilled
I'm sorry.
Legitimately Escaflowne. I was 4 years old when I saw Fanelia be reduced to ashes and almost all its habitants get massacred.
I'm glad my mother didn't monitor what I was seeing on TV back then.
Voltron if we're speaking full anime from japan. Heavy Metal if its allowed. youtube.com
Ouran
I haven't made an anime yet
Unironically my gateway into /m/ along with Gunbuster.
My nigga
was is it Spacetoon? if so then you're my nigga
glad to be not the only one
Wait what? Is Sailor Mars a tranny?
You're an idiot.
Finland?
first anime i downloaded
DBZ, but also techincally Lucky Star since it was the first one I watched from start to finish
Pokemon, Beyblade and DBZ on cartoon network when I was a kid.
Death Note and FMA 03 were the first anime I watched where I knew it was really "anime" - I suppose I would have been 12?
I love how you can pretty much tell what year someone started watching anime from their choices.
Can't quite pinpoint it but it's most likely Akira. Otherwise it'd be Nausicaa or Ninja Scroll.
my very first was tokyo ghoul, but my fav is probably ano natsu de matteru or nge
This was one of my first because the whole series was on funimation's channel and was hyped at the time. Sad that it's mainly forgotten now.
I'd say it's my favourite anime, so much so that I kind of rewatch it almost twice a year
caught a bit of DBZ and Ghost in the Shell SAC when I was a kid.
Kill La Kill is my actual first though. First one i went out of my way to download and the first one I watched with Yea Forums.
Space dandy
This on laserdisc.
Holy shit people this new do really exist
only true men of culture know this
Cardcaptor Sakura
And I had no idea what is going on because they showed episodes randomly so neither were you able to see the first episodes nor had a chronological order on a TV.
The funniest thing was, that once I managed to see the first episode and went "Oh, that's what the whole stuff about is". Same with Digimons and so on.
Holy shit, are you me?
i think it was sakura card captor or maybe doreimo?
Couldn't have asked for a better introduction tea-bee-eitch.
checked
FMA 2003
Don't abuse me, I was 7 and it was 1969.
Kaitei Shōnen Marin
pepes my favorite anime
Probably Pita Ten, I remember I used to watch it in the morning before going to school. My first seasonal anime was either Kuroshitsuji or K-On.
eggbert is a great one as well
>furry shit
Huh, I was gonna get back on track with the Nadia series but I dunno now... Though I've never heard anything bad about it either.
Apology not accepted.
Something on toonami. Couldn't tell you what though now. Maybe DBZ? Maybe Gundam
I don't remember well but it was like a pokemon but with dinosaurs and that was my shit
I don't want to say kappa Mikey because I still don't remember well if the style was true anime or not
For a long time I thought it was Dragonball Z, but I found out recently my first anime was something called The Flying House.
my bad user i forgot to delete your number
eggys got so many great 'sodes, gotta love em
>Ironically enough, I didn't turn out as a tranny or a crossdresser.
There’s still time
Sailor Moon on Toonami
Not counting pokemon, digimon, yugioh, or dragonball I think it'd be Death Note
The Cowboy Bebop movie
If we're not counting Pokemon, the first actual anime for me that I can remember was either One Piece or BoBoBo (watched both with my dad in my youth).
Also slightly off-topic but:
>One day I showed Dokuro-chan's pilot episode to my gf
>she immediately got super pissed at Dokuro for beating up the protag all the time
>says it's because she thinks any girl who would hurt the boy she likes is psychopathic
>to this day remain confused why she couldn't understand it was all just a joke and work of fiction
Im not sure what was first if Pokemon or Maya the Bee
Beyblade and Digimon simultanously with Pokemon
My first “real” anime was Naruto
Then Death Note
But what really got me into anime was the original Dragon Ball
Digimon?
Inuyasha was my first subbed anime.
Pokemon and Digimon if you count shitty dubs that I watched on tv.
Literally me except Naruto. My cousin (who I binge watched DBZ with, and later many other anime) was into it, but for some reason I never got past like 2 episodes.
Also I do remember renting the first Dragon Ball movie a ton at block buster. Curse of the red rubies.
This and Dragon Quest: Dai no Daibōken
If we're talking first anime I ever stumbled upon via TV, it was either Inuyasha or the fucking horrendous 4kids dub of Mew Mew Power if we're talking first I ever went out of my way to watch online with jap speak, it was Wolf's Rain because the first two turned me into a dirty furfag.
Inuyasha is my first anime i've watch.
Fushigi Yuugi was my first realization that I didn't watch Inuyasha for the fights but for the retarded drama between Kagome, Inuyasha and Kikyo.
Shakugan no Shana was my real first descent into anime, watching the first season on YouTube.
But Psychic Academy was my actual first anime to watch voluntarily that I refuse to admit.
>Fushigi Yuugi was my first realization that I didn't watch Inuyasha for the fights but for the retarded drama between Kagome, Inuyasha and Kikyo.
Based.
no, actual dinosaurs
Bakugan?
2013 really isnt that new relatively, it was 5 years ago
iirc theres a chart out there that shows 4chans pageviews doubling from like 2014-now from phoneposters and such
no like actual fucking real life dinosaurs with pokemon powers and i think they had cards or some shit
Dinosaur King?
We had no idea what was coming.
Sister checked out dvds from a library and i watched with her
Oh God! That OP.
It manages to somehow be better than a bunch of today's CGI despite being like 15 years old. At least it does not have that retarded 10fps shit they like to do now for some reason.
I watched the coproduction or heavily localized stuff first like Mysterious cities of Gold, western Voltron, Saber Riders and the Star Sheriffs. I didn't really think of it as something separate from other cartoons. I just thought they were from the same studio because character art looked similar and escpecially because of the way backgrounds were drawn and colored.
The first time I watched something that made me realize "Ok this is something completely different" was a Polish overdub of Sailormoon. The transformation scenes really caught my attention
I was 6
I watched Inuyasha and Dragon Ball VHS tapes when I was little. Then Naruto and Code Geass got me going. Then School Rumble set me in
Mashin Wataru probably?
or Saint Seiya?
First real anime outside of Pokemon/Yugioh/DBZ was probably Love Hina.
Tetsujin 28-go
Based funimation streaming that shit on youtube.
With the goddamn wheat thins commercials
>Being a teenager
Girls Bravo, just your average big tiddy waifu harem
>played this game
>really enjoyed it
>hear about anime adaptation
>watched it
>its fucking terrible
>decide to try another anime so i watched death note
Now i'm a faggot :D
I'm gonna assume you mean my first subbed anime since Obviously it was pokemon or dragonball. Umisho was my first one and I only just recently read the whole manga. One of the most satisfying experiences in my life
>Umisho
Hey you. You're alright.
The first subbed anime I watched was bokusatsu tenshi dokuro-chan.
And my first dubbed anime was gundam wing.
With Viper GTS being my first hentai and remaining my favorite hentai ever since.
Shaman King.
If we're not counting pokemon or other shit you could see all the time on TV I rented Hamtaro from the library a lot as a kid. If we're talking the first thing I actually completed it was Bakemonogatari.
Sailor Moon in the mornings before school, then Pokemon. It was pretty normal shit like Dragon Ball and Digimon until the internet appeared and I was able to download episodes and stuff off of Kazzaa in the early 2000s. I didn't get really into anime until 2004 when I wound up on Yea Forums. I will never experience the type of threads that early 2000s Yea Forums ever again, and they hold a special place in my heart.
Robotech
My Neighbor Totoro when I was like two in '93.
Heresy!
The first anime that I went out of my way to watch in japanese was One Piece, because fansubs were easier to find than the 4kids dub. It was just one day where I was reminded of One Piece on Cartoon Network and decided to go back and see how it was. I watched from episode 1 to getting caught up at Impel Down. My vision significantly worsened that winter vacation, but it was worth it.
I swear I had some building toy back in the 90s with the name Robotech. years later I always thought it was weird that there was a show that had nothing to do with it.
Either Pokemon or Yu-gi-oh I don't remember
This
>buddy wants to watch this with me
>watch a few episodes with him
>think it's pretty cool
>watch eclipse scene with my nephews and hold by place as the cool uncle
I started watching FMAB and DBZ around the same time.
>and hold by place
Im sorry?
Fancy tuna anyone?
I watched a lot Ginga from VHS as kid. Later I also saw bunch of Berserk from VHS. The first whole series I watched was Love Hina after I was pulled in to buying it by the tits on the cover of the DVD box. Pic related.
First I watched that didn't run in tv was either pic, Azumanga or Love Hina. I can't remember which one.
Dubbed on TV and VHS was Digimon Adventure. First manga was Love Hina.
If TV doesn't count, then Digimon Tamers, also dubbed. My first subbed anime was Lucky Star.
Crush gear ride
Crush gear winning
Crush gear fight
I didn't even realise I was watching anime when this first aired. Thought it was just another dumb cartoon and fell in love.

Yea Forums is dead
Good. Had to scroll for a while. Was surprised it was not mentioned.
Same. I watched the uncensored version on Megaupload. Felt good being the same age as my waifu...
Can't say for a fact, my memory from childhood is fuzzy, probably something like GS Mikami or Slayers, although at some point I realized all my friends were watching DBZ, so I started following the series, I would often drop it for a dozen of episodes and pick it up again, never interested me a lot.
I might have to watch it again, all I remember was Lina being an absolute cutie.
>>furry shit
wut, there are no furry shit in Nadia. literally none.
If my first anime i saw at tv, then Shaman King
If my first anime that i saw by myself, then Steins;Gate and Law of Ueki
And i still love Kurisu
Astro boy was probably the first "anime" I actually watched at all but I didn't think it was any different to cartoons at the time, Xam'd Lost Memories was the first anime I watched while knowing what anime actually was.
I watched some cardcaptor sakura movie on VHS once, I think. Long long time ago now, was off sick from school. She won a tombola ball and there was some water-goddess spirit thing hiding underground or something. It's been a long while.
Kapamaru
youtube.com
It was actually airing when I started watching it.
Made in Abyss
