The only thing we can really do is jump ship after the show ends or continue lamenting with KF3 and the arcade game being the unfortunate culmination of the whole series.

There are so many options they could have done to at least make it look like Kaban and Serval actually cared about each other beyond that clunky dialogue with caracal. It was just so lackluster and really didn't sell the connection the two of them had at all.

They were rushed and given far less time than Yaoyorozu to make KF2 to have it out before the announcement of the KF3 Sega mobage and arcade cabinet and during the same timeslot as Kemurikusa to hopefully fuck Yaoyorozu over. I think at this point, them rushing the studio and taking drastic story decisions that run counter to what a majority, if not all fans of the series wanted by design by committee only furthers Yaoyorozu's staff's point that it might be a better idea to move away from that style of development.

Eh, im mixed over season 2. The first season was really really good, but this new one feels, I dont know, 'lacking'. I just caught up on the past two episodes and frankly its not what I expected. We had Kaban's return only to loser her an episode later. We see she is adapting to the new world and has found a good place in it but we do not know what the new world looks like. We know she misses Serval, but this aspect is not played out well.
In all honesty they could and should have done a lot better. It is obviously years later, Kaban has grown and matured, Serval has been eaten and later re-born from Sandstar and things have moved on.
Except what about the previous lore? In Season 1 the Sadnstar was limited to one volcano on the island, and Ceruleans would turn to Pyrrhic flow on contact with sea water, Ceruleans themselves solved by refitting the filter on the volcano so no more bad stuff could get out. But now every volcano produces Sandstar and the stuff? And Ceruleans can swim in the sea? And Beasts too, were where they in Season 1?
Im going to keep watching because i loved s1, but s2 is a bit of a turn off.

Okay I can completely understand Kaban keeping her distance from Serval due to PTSD. But it was already shown that Serval still has vague memories of Kaban, it made absolutely zero sense for her to basically ignore Kaban for most of the episode.

Forget trying to get things from S1 right, they can't even keep things consistent within their own series.

- It seems they tried really hard to make it ambiguous whether Campo remembers Serval or not. Then again when talking about humans she didn't even mention Kaban directly, so maybe she doesn't remeber her either?
- Campo stating she runs a lodge around there kind of removes the possibility we were in a different island all along.
- Shouldn't Campo recognize Arma from the fight against the big Cerulean, considering she helped Moose and Arma was (is?) part of her team?

Campo and Serval didn't interact that much in S1 and one can assume that the Owls were smart enough to keep quiet but we should get PPP in a episode or two and it's going to be really weird if they don't recognize Serval. They really fucked with the pacing in this, the next two episodes are guaranteed to be filler. And lets face it, we don't care about Kyururu, the Beasts or the Yamato Cerulean. The only thing we care about is how Kaban and Serval ended up the way they did, if Serval can somehow regain her memories or at the very least maybe Serval and Kaban can reconnect in some way. None of this is going to be addressed until the last two episodes, if it's even addressed at all.

I'm kind of interested in the Beast. And I am curious about Kaban. It seems like she's met other humans since she didn't seem particularly surprised or impressed by Kyrururu.
