It's surprisingly clearer in the DC. Downside is obviously the unfinished CGI in 2 or 3 scenes, but the extra 12 or 15 minutes really manages to flesh the movie out. It's still not perfect, but it's way less dumb.

I know what I'm thinking: kino

Cant wait for more Riddickino

>we're gonna make kino
it's a shame people always forget about the animated movie that bridges Pitch Black and Chronicles
youtu.be/3sJpxB7NVzU

I completely disregard everything after Chronicles. Only Pitch Black and butcher bay are canon.

I'm watching 'em all for the first time

popcorn kino
by todays standards this is a fresh on rt

>Literally, what were they thinking?
hard to think with that much blood in your massive cock while releasing such kino

They were thinking "I'm sucking Diesel"

Riddick is decent. Just kind of a retread of the first though.

I R BABOOON!

i'd take another one of them

Hey at least they had the balls to take a chance and go in a different direction from the first. Aliens, T2, Evil Dead 2, and Predator 2 are examples of what can come from doing that. Not saying this came close to those though.

The winner takes it alllll...

The other Furyan guy was cool

How dare you put Predator 2 in that sort of company.

I really hope this gets a good 4k transfer at some point. I wanna see just how detailed those sets and costumes were.

Ok it's a little below those but if you're one of those people that poo poo it completely you need to watch it again.

riddick is better than all of that shit. only Alien could be better than riddick. take your garbage sequels and throw them in your ass

Riddick vs Predator when

I enjoy it but it's not on their level.

Riddick > Everything
Conform, or fall forever.

The best Riddick movie is the Butcher Bay videogame, unironically.

FUCK YOU!

Attached: file.png (1150x884, 745.41K)

>tfw Arrow still haven't said if they're doing the other two films yet
Fucking blue balls here, Pitch Black 4k is phenomenal

Stiff neck costume used on the right characters really adds something. Like Keaton's Batman. There's something vaugely regal and predatory at once.

Fuck, I should've waited and found an Arrow copy

>Tried to play it earlier
>Doesn't work because it has absolutely retarded DRM
>Find a guide on the Steam discussion
>"Just pirate the GOG copy, then copy paste the files to the Steam folder."
Well shit, at least it works now

I'm amazed at how many production houses aren't doing it just for long term streaming pennies. Make that initial investment a few times, sit back and rake it in until you decide if you're selling the rights.

i've loved riddick for about 20 years an i've never played the games

>let's make total kino but also go overboard here and there especially with jerking off diesel

I only watched pitch black

They were thinking of making kino and they achieved it, it was great to see the universe fleshed out more and Necromongers are cool as fuck, this is one of those times where going in a new direction actually worked. People cried about it not being more of the same (Pitch Black) but the biggest mistake in this franchise was actually wasting an entire film, the third one, on Riddick having to go back to basics, I can't really accept the premise that Riddick of all people is still the Lord Marshal for a long period of time.

Twst

>Literally, what were they thinking?
It's literally Conan the Barbarian in space.

They even copied the "King Conan on the throne" pose.

chronicles is peak action adventure kino. the settings are good, the action is good, the fun supernatural stuff is also fun. love it

Yeah it wasn't really believable that he'd still be leading them after all that time, also the start of that movie drags the fuck on before Riddick starts fucking people up.

the prison section kind of soiled it imo, otherwise it would have been 10/10

Attached: file.png (864x725, 1.06M)

that's pretty much the whole movie you fartknocker

There's a guy on Yea Forums who recompiles and formats old PC games that are otherwise a bitch to run on modern hardware, the Riddick games were among them. I'm sure they're still around if you ask

it just feels like a waste to me, as if they spent a huge part of the movie on a mediocre B plot right after teasing you by opening the universe up and introducing cool antagonists and showing such promise. its still a great movie though

some people like me prefer it that way. i want more random stories with riddick. not every universe needs to be some fully known thing. vin knows this being a d&d player

It ties things back to who Riddick was in Pitch Black, and sets up the awesome "chase" across the surface. And without that, we wouldn't have the most based scene in the movie, with the Necromonger officer walking out into the flames.

Nah, it works fine now. I just had to use the GOG version and put the files in the Steam folder.

Will we get any more films?

>THRESHOLD
>THRESHOLD
>TAKE US TO THE THRESHOLD
What's the best audio format for this Riddickbros? I remember several scenes sounding intense in the theater.

You know, I just re-watched that movie the other week, and when it got to the scene where the Necromongers invade the Islamic planet, I couldn't help but think how much more impressive this was than the scene in Dune where the Sardaukar/Harkonnens attack Arrakis.

youtube.com/watch?v=EHseJwwX9k4

am I the only one who thinks COR was retarded
even if you watch dark fury it doesn't connect shit
it felt like vin played warhammer and told his agent
>hey remember that one guy who was a semi badass in the late 90s
>yeah lets make a whole spinoff series about him with gods and the afterlife

Attached: brod.png (685x524, 134.75K)

HA
I thought the same thing

i just think it would have been utter kino if they had sort of a similar dynamic as the 3rd movie where you have both the merc group and the aliens, like if they had riddick get captured by Toombs and his crew and instead of them just dumping him on the prison planet right away we spent more time with the merc group as they came into conflict with the necromongers, it would have given both great antagonists more screen time and development

ESCAPE ARTIST, HUH

that's because Dune is gay. only like a thousand people knew about it before last year and half of them worked on the adaptations

Now that I think about. Riddick really is space-Conan, but less of a barbarian.

Vin Diesel was really into Warhammer 40k at the time.

inb4 some 40k fantatic writes a manifesto on why they're not similar

uhm akshually

Watching all 4 of these movies for the first time. I just got to Riddick and...
>We had Conan the Barbarian in space, leading an army of 40k Necro-Marines with access to the warp, as they storm the Underworld.
>Instead, Vinny gets cucked and chills on a planet for 2 hours while he befriends a dog.

Attached: 1651945644622.jpg (1024x719, 135.84K)

Dune really suffered from how empty and plain everything was. While that was okay for the scenes out in the desert, the scenes in the city felt so lifeless. We never see the city streets or the populace aside from a few seconds of some religious pilgrims crowding around the palace gates. It made things much less impactful seeing the Harkonnen ships bombarding the city when we literally never saw what was being blown up.

That was a studio/budget issue. Chronicles was a financial flop, and Vin basically had to self-fund the sequel. It was made for only a third as much money, so they couldn't afford the epic space opera that Chronicles seemed to have set up.
