The pacing of the first two seasons is just bad with needlessly long scenes and exposition.
The entire 5th season was mostly boring with only a few redeeming moments (the train heist), the series peaked when Fring died and you have to go through 16 fucking episodes after that to get the ending where they introduce a whole new batch of bland characters (Jack, Todd, Lydia) instead of having wrapped it up with the cast of S4.
Plenty of shit was just stretched too long for side-drama too (Beneke, car wash stuff), also the episode about the fly.

I'm ok with a slow pace in a series like the Wire when it's more about the setting than the intrigue but BB is the opposite.
