Of course she's going to defend her cash cow. She gotta squeeze every ounce from that udder.
>Elizabeth Olsen makes a shit ton of money from marvel
>Elizabeth Olsen tells people to keep watching MCU
Why are we shocked by this? It's just like when Tarentino says videogames can't be art. Of course artists are going to defend their medium as hard as they can
explain.
WOMAN OPINION
this
a broken clock can be right twice a day, i guess.
God damn she looks like shit these days
Would still smell her ass, though
Well, I mean. They're not art. Movies made as part of some big, dumb marketing machine aren't art. And that's honestly okay. They're not what I go for as far as cinema goes, but not everything has to aspire to be high art. People need to stop being so defensive.
This. It's not to say someone can't subvert their corporate handlers and slip something with more merit in ala Yoshiyuki Tomino, but most of these work-for-hire blockbuster directors just aren't really capable of bringing more to the table.
>lesser
Lmfao it's not art at all you vapid slut
Unironically I think Pattinson’s openness about Twilight (and his distaste for the characters and source material) made people think most actors are capable of taking a critical lens to their own material, and will actually voice their own opinions. But it was just Pattinson (who is based btw)
>my product isn't shit, you need to keep consooming, goyim!!!
Not everyone's as honest or candid as Pattinson or Cavill or some others. I think it takes some balls to shit talk works that you know were duds.
It's funny how people defend Marvel movies as art, but they're usually not the type of people who would actually watch an indie movie, or read a non-genre novel, or appreciate non-commercial designs.
If they care so much about "art", they'd have expanded their tastes just enough to realize that Marvel is only the tip of the iceberg.
>the crew worked so hard, please don't say bad things about my flick
You know who else worked hard? The Nazis.
Yeah retarded reasoning. Basically any successful undertaking entailed a lot of hard work, even lame projects
A rat that should nibble on my dickcheese
Because if you ask them what their top 5 favorite films are, it's all big blockbuster stuff from the last 10-20 years. They'd never think to watch something that they didn't have to hunt for.
WALLED
Exactly. If someone wants to consume only the easiest type of entertainment then that's fine. But they should accept that they're consuming easy shit and stop pretending that they're sophisticated.
The word "art" means nothing if you don't know anything outside of Disney and blockbusters, so why make a big deal out of it?
>Mafia Cinematic Universe
Waoh...
He likes Raimi though.
>doesnt watch the movies herself
>says this
very peculiar
>person who relies on thing, defends thing
Wat?!?! No.... can't be
I'm in love with Lizzie.
I rest my case.
>capeshit is like themepark rides!
Yeah no shit it is, but people like themepark rides.
Defends from what? Them being art or not doesn't make a difference to her paycheck
This is absolute cope
This shit gets me every time. His shin looks like it's about to snap off
>indie movie
I kinda of hate how people have created a false dichotomy that in film there is only the huge blockbuster or indie art film and nothing else. Media you consume is like a diet, and yeah, most people are binge eating on fast food or poorly constructed staples. But a lot of the people bitching about this don't have any real solution to fix it. Ultimately plebs are gonna pleb. And the rest of us, well we enjoy a variety of meal types.
>this was considered jacked in 2011
He never said there was anything wrong with that

Its not honesty or balls, its business sense. If you shittalk a move or movie series you were in then in the future studios will be more reluctant to cast you in big roles, its simply more risk/possible bad press and it could be very damaging to your career, especially if you piss of some big studio exec. Hollywood is all nepotism and favouritism after all
All movies are products. FACT
I kind of feel like these aging directors actually don't know what the issue is. I know they try to frame it as "art vs bad culture" but to me the root of their issues is about cinemas.
Cinemas aren't profitable anymore: utilities are high & rents are high; we've been making "popcorn is expensive" jokes for decades. So the big media companies like Disney have the cinemas by the balls and get them to sign unfair contracts about how many screens and for how long their movies will play for (which can push other films out). But the cinemas also need this because big event movies bring in the paying customers because people want to see the spectacle on the big screen. So the big tentpole blockbuster movies seem like the only game in town when it comes to the big screen experience.
Where as drama has largely moved onto television, as the big blockbusters rose the talent decided to make shows instead. Golden Age of television with HBO shows like Sopranos etc. And then lesser shows like Breaking Bad etc. Audiences tend to prefer their drama at home where they can digest it and drama doesn't have the same "cinematic" feeling it once did, as in, do you need to see a Scorcese flick on the big screen or your home threatre? And I haven't even mentioned streaming and how it has changed how audiences view content, both in the literal sense and how they have access to all this stuff. I mean Scorcese even put Irishman on Netflix so he has to in his heart of hearts understand this. Part of me feels like he's blaming the wrong people, instead of the fact that times have changed.
Are you dumb? Marvel is the only thing making people interested in cinema today. Film literacy has improved so much among normies just because of how much they care about Marvel movies and how well made Marvel movies are. 99% of the fans of "indie" movies (by which I just know you mean A24) are Marvel fans
>I mean Scorcese even put Irishman on Netflix so he has to in his heart of hearts understand this.
This is what caused his seething about Marvel movies. Instead of kissing Feige's boots for keeping theatres open he threw a hissy fit because his movie got pushed to streaming. He never considered something like Sopranos or Breaking Bad art and he doesn't consider streaming movies cinema
Some of those old school guys hate television as much as Marvel. Tbh the history of television is probably even more commercial than anything, so many shows were one and done more so because advertisers and their inputs. The fact any tv shows in the past were good or art was a hard fought battle. He has a narrow view of cinema that pretty much defines his thinking. The issue seems far beyond the debate about art and more about the commercial viability of cinemas and audience taste than anything else. Part of me just thinks that the issue is just money, $250 million budget for the Irishman is just too much for most investors, even studios that might want a "prestige piece".
She got fucked by Thanos in the Western remake of Oldboy
I watched Multiverse of Madness in a literal cinema today. Get wrecked, old man.
only the movies that have been written and edited by an AI
Disney shills can be THIS obvious and not get called out immediately. Is it over for Yea Forums?
I saw some broad on letterboxd making fun of The Northman for being a ripoff of The Lion King before somebody had to tell her LK was a ripoff of Hamlet and Hamlet was a ripoff of the legend The Northman is a retelling of. Most people out there don't know about anything made before 1990. That's why you have hundreds of YouTube channels of people reacting to shit like RoboCop and Rocky and fucking Pulp Fiction for the first time, they never saw anything that wasn't Harry Potter before
you must be new here
Is there a problem with this?
>Most people out there don't know about anything made before 1990.
Because 1990 was 30 years ago and people who watch youtube are on average alot younger than 30 and simply haven't seen these movies before. ALl the great generation defining movies of the 90s don't mean as much to anybody born past the year 2000.
tl;dr: You're getting old mate
nah even 2020 Yea Forums would've shat on this thread but more than half the posters are actually agreeing with the OP
>world is good
>powerful bad person appears
>world becomes bad
>superhero appears
>fights bad person
>they shoot bolts of energy at each other
>bad person is too powerful
>good team is defeated
>BUT WAIT
>insert random twist here
>GOOD TEAM WINS
Every single capeshit ever.
user please
it's not possible to defend marvel crap after Legion. Noah Hawley proved you can make kino with this source material. They are just choosing not to.
She looks fucking uncanny with those eyes, what the hell bros
