LightYear (2022)

Who is this movie for exactly? It's too dull and boring looking to appease to children right? It's too uninteresting looking to get fans of Toy Story to watch it. And what the hell even is it? Does this movie take place inside the mind of a child playing with a buzz lightyear doll or did this shit actually happen? Is this a fictional movie in the Toy Story universe? Literally what is this stupid bullshit this has to be the weirdest most uninteresting project pixar has ever done. I see zero hype for this movie.

Buzz lightyear looking like he gonna turn his body cam off

I hate Pixar's new art style so fucking much. Just look at the characters' eyes. They look psychotic

>too dull and boring looking to appease to children
My four year old cousin's excited about it. I assume he's not the only one. user I think you might be out of touch, sorry.

Parents aren't taking their kids to see some forced faggot kissing shit.

I think the casting director had dyslexia.

>"The scene involves Alicia Hawthorne, a Space Ranger who is also a gay woman of color. While her orientation is never in doubt in the film, a kiss that she shares with her partner was reportedly left on the cutting room floor until recently. Lightyear, written by Pete Docter and starring Chris Evans, imagines the Buzz Lightyear origin story that gave rise to the toy."

Fuck me, I never thought Disney would stoop this low...

Hell fucking no.

Man children
Toy story fans
Pixar fans
Disney fans
And families with little children

Gingers don't have soul user.

>still no official release of the TV series

ok i laughed

Pixar is dead. All the talent is gone, it's just cal arts diversity hires and ex-Tumblr trannies.

Disney wants to sell toys and continue an established property. Millenials that saw Toy Story when they were kids are now parents and will take their own kids to see it. It's the market strategy Pixar has been doing for years now. Indcredibles 2, Monsters Uni, Finding Nemo 2, same shit.
Yes, It's very cynical and corporate, exactly what current Disney entertainment is. The amount of threads complaining about these movies on this board is symptomatic of the fact that it also gets attention from childless nerds as well just negative attention, but attention nonetheless. Expect to endure another 10 years of this shit before Disney is forced to create new IPs again.

>weirdest most uninteresting project Pixar has ever done

That would be Turning Red. But you aren't wrong that this has zero appeal and doesn't make much sense as a Toy Story spinoff.

It is the 1980s blockbuster movie that inspired the Buzz Lightyear cartoon and toy in the 1990s.

>Angus MacLane, the writer and director of Lightyear, explained where the idea came from. “One day after eating corn on the cob with my father, I saw a movie that changed my life: Star Wars,” MacLane said during a recent press event. “And after I saw Star Wars, all I wanted to play was Star Wars. All I wanted to draw was Star Wars. Star Wars was my religion. And it lasted for years.”

>“I’ve always wondered, ‘What movie was Buzz from? Why couldn’t we just make that movie?’,” MacLane continued. “So that’s what we did. Lightyear [is] the movie that Andy saw that changed his life. Andy’s Star Wars.

>“I imagined this was a movie that then later, there was a spinoff cartoon,” MacLane explained. “And then the Toy Story toy was made off of that cartoon design. That very much was the way it would be in the ‘80s and early ‘90s. There would be a big-budget movie, like a serious movie, and then it would get ported to a TV show. It’s not diminishing anything about it. But it does feel like the events of what happens on the back of the package for Buzz Lightyear [the toy] don’t happen in this movie.”

>If you go by the year the actual movie, Toy Story, was made, Andy got the Buzz Lightyear toy in 1995. And anyone who was a kid in the 1990s knows you probably saw your favorite movie one way and one way only. “[Lightyear] is more like his favorite movie that he saw on VHS,” MacLane said. His belief is that, in the Toy Story world, Lightyear was released in the “early ‘80s, late ‘70s.” You know, around the same time as Star Wars. And, like Star Wars, it wasn’t just one movie.

>“I think in the world [of Toy Story] maybe there were three [Lightyear] movies,” MacLane said to io9 in a follow-up interview. “Then there was like an Ewoks or a Droids show, which is what the Buzz Lightyear toy is from.” (He even explains that in his mind, the reason Al’s Toy Barn in Toy Story 2 is filled with Buzz and Zurg toys, but not the other characters from the film, is that they’re “perennial figures [the toy company] reused the molds for.”)

Another misfire for Grub Hub.

Normies won't care.
The only thing they'll see is just another pixar family-friendly movie.

It obviously has nothing to do with Buzz Lightyear Star Command. The little robot and fat red alien aren't in it either

Normies do not think highly of Pixar anymore. Even to the sleepiest sheep, the agendas bleeding through Pixar's last handful of movies is blatant and unappealing, the animation quality has plummeted massively, and the stories no longer have the same charm they once did. Parents with morals that care about what kind of things their kids watch absolutely noticed the gross LGBT shit going on in Luca and Turning Red and do not trust Pixar anymore.

Kek

That doesn't line up with the fact that Buzz Lightyear was a super hyped toy in present time during Toy Story 1. I always thought it was fairly obvious that Buzz was supposed to be one of those toys with a built-in backstory that would later inspire or was meant to be released alongside with a tie-in cartoon show.

I know SW had a big resurgence in the 90s because of the VHS releases but it still makes more sense if Buzz Lightyear is a brand new IP in Toy Story 1.

I guess it works. I don't want it to, but I was born in '89 and went apeshit for the special edition when it came out.

A literal manchild I know who at 26 is still obsessed with animated movies, Harry Potter and Bleach, he once had a whole rant about the live action Lion King

>live action Lion King
The what?

Pixar is such a propaganda company, all of their movies encourage the worst psychology possible in children. Just look at toy story, what does that encourage in children? Valuing material objects as highly as people, that's literally all it encourages.

Yeah, I was more or less going to post the same thing. Toy Story 1 and 2 make Buzz Lightyear out to be a very much new and current fad toy in the time those movies take place, not something based on a 10-15 year old movie with enduring fandom. This guy and Disney are just retconning shit to pretend like the old cartoon never happened to sell their inferior remake. I very much took Buzz Lightyear to be kind of like a stand-in for Power Rangers in the Toy Story world. It was the big craze at the time the first Toy Story came out, after all.

I thought this was a TV show for some reason.

Modern Disney is too big to fail and their current cinematic outputs are just vehicles for keeping succesful IP's within the public conciousness in the long term. Now their Pixar and and capeshit IPs are running out of steam they bought Fox so they can do the same thing to Fox IPs for the next 10 years and then after that they will just buy some other company and do the same.
Just look at what Activision has done to Blizzard games last couple of years.. Same thing is happening here.

this is a movie? I thought it was a tv show.

Yep. The foundation of sand the left built on has been shifting like hell lately.

Extremely based

The biggest cock tease of my childhood, she friendzoned buzz to a painful degree.

why would anyone even bother with it, then? That show was poggers.

Why do these talentless californians insist on rewriting established stuff with their own crappy bullshit? Why does canon scare the shit out of these talentless toss-ppots?

Faggot Pixar Niggers deserve the rope

Because the left can't create, only pervert and destroy.

Lightyear being that universe's Star Wars also doesn't make sense since Andy doesn't own any other Buzz Lightyear product until after getting the Buzz doll and then he gets bedsheets, posters, etc.

Yeah there always was the joke about Buzz essentially wanting to stop the Death Star and TS2 has the ESB gags, but it still makes more sense for Buzz to be a brand new fad.

Nigger SnowNigger SandNigger OldNigger but no AsianNigger representation?

Exactly. And that's the whole plot of the movie. Buzz is a fad. Andy treats him like his favorite toy, because in that moment, he's high on the hype of a new movie/cartoon along with all the other kids he hangs out with (they all go berserk that Andy got the figure for his birthday). But ultimately, Buzz and Woody share that spot when the fad wears off. At no point do you get the impression that adult Andy is still obsessed with whatever Buzz Lightyear was based on and clearly acknowledges by the end that he has outgrown those things by giving the toys away.

fpbp

The cat is Laotian

What are the odds that this only exists so they can easily rebrand some failed Star Wars theme park attraction as a Lightyear attraction?

Amen

Why couldn't they replace the Nigger with a beautiful Asian woman that brings her twin sister to the back of the ship and doubles down on Lightyear's cock?

Good idea, we'll consider it for the sequel.

Yup, they all have sanpaku eyes

It's like white supremacist propaganda or something. The white character is aesthetic and gorgeous and the other look like literal el goblinos.

Did they replace based Booster and XR with boring ass humans?
Mira can fuck off though

So true, they already had the fucking template right here. But only one white guy? Yikes! Where are the niggers and blatinos????

>Sci-Fi show promotes diversity
>Replaces all of the aliens with boring humans
Why do they do this?

Shut up about your gay ass looking cartoon show.

And also an excuse to not cast Tim Allen in future Toy Story media because he's a heckin' Drumpftard or something.

Here's Booster in his underwear.

I've lost count but too many of their previous movies have horrible emoting. Like all the characters give off this puss in boots innocent face look. Coco was the first film that really irritated me.

This bothered me so much with Picard.

People will watch anything Disney really, as long as it's not weird shit like Wrinkle In Time, Onward or Artemis Fowl.

No fucking clue. Saw the trailer in a theater yesterday and I literally can't tell what they did this for. Were they afraid of using aliens in his crew like in the tv show because it would be too unrelatable? Maybe people would accuse it of being like Guardians of the Galaxy? It's ruined either way, I won't be watching it.

>Who is this movie for exactly?
Funkopop buying adult children

Every black woman I have met in the streets is a fucking annoying cunt who think they are entitled to everything, seeing a black woman calm and empowered just looks so fucking unrealistic

Uninstall Yea Forums and delete Windows and don't ever come back here.

They already emasculated Woody in Toy Story 4 with some weird as fuck retcon to Bo Peep, time to do the same with "the real" Buzz who is going to learn from his sassy black female sidekick (secretly the true protagonist). They will do this to every iconic male character from your childhood (especially white ones).
