The hatch and the button was my favorite arc and peak lost. The concept of this entire underground base constructed around this old computer and entering 6 numbers in it to stave off some unknown disaster was really cool as was the set. Is it real, is it an experiment, what will happen if you don't press it, who built it and the question of faith that it presents to the characters.

Man it fucks me up when people say this show made no sense. What they dont get is that Lost is one of the most jewed shows in the history of TV. Lindorf originally wanted lost to be a 3 season mini series with a beginning middle and an end. But Jew Jew Abrahms wanted to milk to franchise for every shekel it was worth and stretch things on forever.

All of seasons 1 and 2 and the first half of season 3 was supposed to be season 1. Time Travel was supposed to start in season ONE. Lindorf knew that dragging things on was ruining the show and he kept fighting for a definitive ending. So multiple times behind the scenes the planned number of seasons changed, and sometimes the plan was to HAVE no planned end and just milk it FOREVER. JJ Abrams was the biggest proponent of this.

The reason there are so many loose ends in lost is because the payoffs that were planned for them kept getting pushed off into the distant future as this 3 season story kept getting stretched into infinity. Then when the shekels ran dry and it was time to finally end it they didnt have time to wrap up any of the loose end mysteries. And its why they did the stupid fucking afterlife shit because they ran out of shit to flash backwards to because none of these characters backstories were meant to be stretched so thin.

And people still to this day say "it was all made up as they went there was no plan" when if you did the ARG and read the novels and shit they put Star Trek tier autistic detail into backstory and lore of Lost.

i remember when it first aired, the hype was massive.

That's a lot of content for 1 season even if you condense it, I think seasons 1 and 2 are best left as is if not trimmed slightly. The tension being built up those first 2 seasons with island and the others and not getting answers about either until season 3 would be lost. Although who knows. Everything after that you can tell they're stretching things the more it went on.

I think a lot of filler in Season 3 could've easily been chopped out. But each rewatch I appreciate it more. The flashbacks suffered the most, like Jack's dumbass tattoo episode (seriously seriously don't know what the fuck they were thinking. They completely mischaracterized Jack). Nikki and Paulo were also a story and character arc that the writers had to make a meta-spoof episode just to get the audiences respect back.

Not really, I like to headcanon that their plan worked when they blew up the bomb and it changed their future. Season 6 answers all the remaining questions with answers and things like the cork that don't make sense.

This is just speculating but Im assuming that getting answers about the others would have been held off until later as well and probably would have been combined with the Jacob/Smokey revelation. Instead of the weird situation we got where the Others worship jacob but dont know anything about him

The cork was always a retcon because they couldnt get enough money to have the final fight be at a volcano. It doesnt make sense because its a holdover from the original lore when the Island was supposed to be a prison for Smokey. Literally a "cork" that if opened would let him run loose. But instead they went w a less sinister interpretation of the Island so it makes no god damn sense.

I think in the first 2 seasons the monster was just whaat Rosseau said, a security system. And in the DHARMA map on the blast door it was called Cerberus with the holes around the island "Cerberus vents."I think in season 3 they began the plan for it to be an evil entity but I don't think it was a former human yet. The cork makes sense for this, perhaps holding more smoke. And I remember Lindelof saying in his original vision, we would've never seen Jacob which I agree with. Keep the mystique. I don't think the show should've blatantly answered all the questions. Was Jacob God? Was he a person? Also I wonder how they would've made the volcano the centerpiece of the final battle. Would they have worked the cork in there somehow?

I rewatched it recently too and I liked S6 more than I remembered
it's still a mess but there's some really good episodes and the finale is good

A handful people leave the island alive, meanwhile we find out it was all a grand scheme to find a replacement for leader of the island, which is basically the source of all light/dark in the World. It was epic as fuck and you just didnt understand clearly

The replacement ended up being an obese freak who doesn't take anything seriously and whose biggest accomplishment is winning the lottery.

The idea was that the volcano was smokeys prison w the version of him we see only being a fraction of his powerlevel. The eruption of the volcano during the Jack/Evil Locke fight was supposed to signal smokey escaping and be his method of destroying the island.

The cork was a backup if they coudnt get the volcano, which ultimately they coudnt, the idea being the same that the cork was keeping smokey locked up.

But the Island as a prison for smokey lore got retconned so it doesnt make any sense.

I only watched the first season and that was the most kino 25 hours of my life
It was so good I didn't want to watch the other seasons because I felt it would faint the story of the first season
Also that spick lady showed up and it became boring

Remember how pissed the fans were about them shoe-horning Nikki and Paulo into the plot that they literally dedicated an entire episode to taking the piss and killing them in the most brutal and hilarious way possible? Absolutely based.
