The Beach (2000)

>And me? I still believe in paradise. But now at least I know it's not some place you can look for. Because it's not where you go. It's how you feel for a moment in your life when you're a part of something. And if you find that moment... It lasts forever.
We can never go back, can we?

No. It was a different time, different place.

>dicaprio did this movie instead of american psycho

thank fuck for that. he would have ruined the cult classic.

I fucking love this movie except for the stupid scene where he's losing his mind and he imagines he's in a video game. It pretty much ruins it for me.

he didnt exactly lose his mind, he was on some weird forest magic mushrooms.

I like that scene, makes the movie even better

No there's no going back friends. Just war, famine, death, collapse, fear and then infinite blackness. It's all coming down. Arm yourselves.

>spend an entire day as a kid working as an extra on this movie for a scene
>movie comes out and the scene is deleted
>DVD comes out and it's not even in the deleted scenes
>to this day I wonder if I single-handedly ruined the entire scene

thats how i felt in the ranger regiment. the singularity of purpose was incredible, especially if you're young and dumb and believe wholesale in what you're doing. its a shame you have to suffer physically every day and risk dying to find that sort of fulfilment.

Actually late 90s-early 2000s kino for what it was.

>the book is warning about tourism that is described as a virus
>the books is a warning about normies, they don't want a real experience but the plastic, fake and safe experience
>literally no ones care thailand islands
>movie based on the book
>ko phi phi is now a tourist trap

Attached: c1_503720.jpg (620x413, 280.28K)

>now
It's been a tourist trap ever since the Man With The Golden Gun. It's why the book chose that location specifically for the themes you're mentioning.

can't wait for the Asian remake

I'M MOVIN
I'M COMIN CAN YOU HEAR
WHAT I HEAR IT'S
CALLING YOU MY DEAR
OUT OF REACH

What was the scene?

Leo sitting on a makeshift raft in the water as a tourist boat rolls up to him thinking he needs rescue with all the tourists on board clamouring for him to come aboard while he's staring out into the distance solemnly or some shit I dunno he was facing away from us during the scene every time.

Also Satan confirmed it was all my fault but oh well that's life huh?

Based Richard ignoring the big chunky Charlie.

>"COOEE, LEO DO YOU NEED ANY RESCUING? HAHA JUST KIDDING WITH YA BUDDY"

So you're the guy who ruined it.

It's a good movie much nostalgia about Thailand, the hype about fullmoon party etc.

I never seen this, but I found out Moby's Porcelain is part of the soundtrack. I haven't heard that song since 2000 and it always played in shopping malls during that time. It wasn't until last November by happen chance I heard it again and a wave of nostalgia swept over me. I would say it's the soundtrack of that year, an intermediary between the late 90s and the 2000s.

any more kinos about really exploring the world?

any anons that have actually gone to another totally different country from where they live and tried to get the real experience?

I was an extra in the Ty Cobb movie from 1994 in a scene that was cut. I often wonder the same thing.

>any anons that have actually gone to another totally different country from where they live and tried to get the real experience?
Yeah we have a ton of third world neocolonists that have invaded the first world and are now posting on 4channel

I moved from eastern Europe to America in my late 20s

Did your scene survive in DVD extras at least?

Is this movie worth watching? It has fucking 6.6/10 IMDb and 21% rotten tomatoes.

probably means it's good
I should watch it as well

It's like a really good bowl of ravioli, only a fourth of the raviolis are cooked so every now and then you get a gross cold bite. Everything else is great... but those bites make it hard to really enjoy the meal

based scene actually
this is leo's best movie

underrated as fuck. I watched it as a teen like everyone else, rewatching as a 30yo it's way better

Seen it twice, don't remember much but i certainly dont remember being impressed.

We thank you Lord for the twin pillars of civilization: Christianity and cricket.

The only acting jobs I can get now are Corncob TV originals it is literally fucking killing the shit out of my fuckin ass

>tfw i used to be like leo's character in the beginning of the movie looking down on other backpackers in thailand
fuck this movie makes me nostalgic

Attached: 1586001532288.jpg (1024x752, 48.01K)

>leo is literally me, goes traveling, takes drugs and has sex with cute girls
7/10 pretty good

uhh sounds like i won't be able to relate then

>I'm gonnnaaa die in a place that don't know my naaaame

>I'M COOMIN

Attached: maxresdefault.jpg (1280x720, 120.38K)

are you thai or did you travel there for the movie?

Pretty good afternoon flick, its pretty kino for the whole life off the grid aspect.

Happenstance.

Farang living there at the time.

I travelled there, but not for the movie, to fuck kids

We would have had a well acted character instead of this over the top cringefest.

>you will never be part of something

can't believe people consider american psycho a fucking cult classic
the beach is far better

speak for yourself, I was in the local newspaper once

Were you not here when baneposting was invented?

are you the one who yelled louder than all the other extras?

>Local Man's Bizarre Public Tirade About "Unpaid Janitors" Gets Him Arrested - Family Embarrassed

is the island in porco rosso inspired by the same one as the beach? always reminds me of it

I'm sure I'll get shit on but I spent 6 months backpacking around America (I'm not American). It was great.
On the plane ride back I saw The Secret Life of Walter Mitty and that film perfectly captured my wanderlust. A very comfy film

The subtext is about hippies you eyeless pleb anglerfish

>the beach

Is this based off a comic book?

No that's clearly mediterranean

fuckin retard

Normies love travelling for a reason

>HEY
>HEY
>HEY WOMAN
Bros...

Just make the Yea Forums cut
We need more Yea Forums cuts

that sex scene was hot

I watched this on a plane to Thailand. Gooks are the most disgusting subhumans I've ever met and their country was a shithole.

Literally the only good part is a moby song, really captures the aesthetic

Nah thailand is based. Everyone is laid back unless you're a huge asshole

She was so pretty bros

Attached: frenchgirl.jpg (500x792, 187.37K)

That movie will probably never get a special edition because it was revealed that the bio it's based on was fabricated in order to smear him.

when internet it wasn't a thing yet i bought a magazine only because it published her nudes

Oh shit Hunter Biden is that you?

based
