No Gus said if Walt didnt leave and leave Jesse alone he’d so it. Walt refuse to comply and poisoned Brock to make Jesse think Gus did it. If Walt would’ve died Jesse wouldn’t work for Gus so Gus would’ve left him alone if he would just play nice. Walt was too proud to leave it all alone so he tried to kill him with the car bomb and then Gus went okay fine I’ll kill you. Walts ego was his downfall, it got Mike killed, it got Hank killed and it got Jesse imprisoned by the bel nazis and his family to hate him. He was a fucking idiot through and through and the show should’ve just ended at S4 cause he just gets even more comedically evil and stupid in s5.
