>THEY FORGET ABOUT ME
God I hate comedy Freddy. The first movie is a classic. The second one goes the spooky Freddy route and is still good, though it sort of abandons the dreams aspect which is lame. The rest are just abominations. I can respect New Nightmare for trying to take a more serious approach instead of Freddy being some frat bro jester.
Seethe
1 and 3 are great
new nightmare was boring
but i like the meta for what became scream
New Nightmare was boring, but like I said they stopped the stupid comedic schtick. For that, I can respect it. The hospital kill was cool but sadly that’s like the only kill in the movie.
3 was the one where all the kids had superpowers right? Yah no it’s dogshit.
He doesn't. Did you miss the part where he always comes back again and so there are like 9 movies?
How is he even temporarily defeated?
He's just fucking with them. Eventually he runs out of comedic material and gets tired of chasing kids around so he just lets them think they won so he can go get drunk and think of more funny things to say when he starts killing people again.
People stop fearing him, it’s like IT
never understood this guy
apparently he's a kiddy diddler who can invade dreams - and instead of invading the dreams of prime lolis every night and with his dream powers giving them mind bending orgasms he took the bitter incel pill and kills chad and stacies.
0/10 writing, what a hack
Because he only gets to use one trick one time. The franchise follows very strict rules about this. It's how his powers work. Did you not catch that at all?
I like Dream Master a lot as well. Alice was Buffy before Buffy.
10/10
That's only mentioned in Freddy vs Jason. It was sort of how Nancy defeats him in the original, but then it didn't really work.
This. People conflate Freddy vs Jason stuff with what’s actually featured in the other movies. No Friday the 13th movie ever featured a young Jason being bullied by other campers for example. He just drowned.
>Muh New Nightmare!
Fuck off.
He’s not a kid diddler in the original series. That was added in the last remake (which is shit)
Not him but I really like New Nightmare. Turning Freddy into a modern day fairy tale villain was a good concept.
Yeah, he only killed kids in the original.
>I kill kids, but I am NOT a pedophile!
Yea, Alice is great.
I don’t think New Nightmare is a particularly good movie. I just appreciate it’s not NES playing one line quips Freddy and they tried to go back to the actual horror roots. 1 & 2 are both really good but the rest of the series sucks donkey dick.
New Nightmare is pure kino.
You can kill kids and not be a pedophile. Tommy Lynn Sells did it. Even Ted Bundy randomly killed some kid. Freddy was never a pedo until the remake and they kept shoving it down your throat constantly.
It laid the foundations for Scream but I think it’s really lacking in kills. Demon Freddy approach is neat but they hardly use him. It does have a few kino moments however.
I wasn't implying that a child killer has to be a pedophile, just that I find it funny like that -
>I kill children, but I do not diddle them. Do you think I'm a monster?
>It laid the foundations for Scream but I think it’s really lacking in kills. Demon Freddy approach is neat but they hardly use him.
This is my main problem with the movie. It needed more fodder characters to be killed. It would have been even better if they utilized the cast from the original movies more. Imagine if Amanda Wyss, the girl who played Tina in the original, was killed in a similar fashion.
heres looking at you...BITCH
>God I hate comedy Freddy
Why? He's unique to the slasher genre as the only killer with personality. All the other slashers are slow, mute shamblers, retards, and screamers
I always like the scenes where the characters are still trying to figure out of he's real or not, discussing things about him, but not fully understanding what's going on yet.
I like New Nightmare, but it could've been so much more. Like if Robert Englund would've went face-to-face with Freddy; something that both torments him yet made him famous.
I love Lisa Wilcox, bros.
Chucky is the other main quipster slasher villain.
Nigger what Chucky, Leprechaun, hell The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2. There is a lot. One liner Freddy is nothing unique in fact it’s the opposite and is nothing but a lazy shtick.
>but the rest of the series sucks donkey dick.
Wrong. You just have terrible taste.
classic Frederick
It's really not. Most people who enjoy New Nightmare were not even born when it came out.
>when a fucking doll is 10 times more entertaining than you
>Hey user! It's time for your booster shot. Lets....Get....Vax'd!!!
Could an adept lucid dreamer defeat Freddy in dreamland?
That’s, eugh, kind of the plot of the later movies.
I think it’s interesting as both a prototype for Scream’s meta-horror and feels very personal to Wes Craven. He was clearly working through some stuff.
>Even Ted Bundy randomly killed some kid.
Assume you mean Kimberly Dianne Leach, who was raped like a lot of his victims.
If you're gonna murder someone, you might as well enjoy it.
It's lame. The kills suck. Freddy is hardly even in it at all. The meta angle was sort of interesting for the time, but it just didn't work. Freddy was at his best when he was being humorous with the kills. If you don't like that angle, you don't like Nightmare on Elm Street, because he was always being humorous, even in the first movie. Part 2 he was at his darkest, but everyone hates that movie (I think it's great).
I liked the dark fairy tale motif of New Nightmare. The People Under the Stairs also has a fairy tale structure.
Freddy having a personality is a good thing, the problem is the approach to the dream world.
Tim Curry also did a charismatic Pennywise and he was one of the best perfomance in all of horror character.
The deaths were supposed to be the stuff of nightmare but they kept getting wacky and wackier. They simply ran out of Ideas.
The People Under The Stairs was a great movie.
It’s one of Craven’s top 5 for me.
He wasn’t humorous in the first movie.
I highly recommend the Never Sleep Again documentary which goes over every film in the franchise, including Freddy vs Jason. Fair warning though, some parts may be scarier than the actual films.
Shocker is pretty much Freddy with a slightly different angle. Craven movie too. It’s alright, gets overlooked a lot.
there are rules, he can't just outright kill people except in the gay one but that one doesnt count
>there are rules, he can't just outright kill people
Bull fucking shit. There are no established rules.
Yes he was.
I think Freddy's dreamscape manipulation is limited by the fear he instills in his victims combined with the souls he absorbs. Basically it's their dream, meaning that they in theory hold all the cards and have total control. Freddy scares his victims to forget this fact, and essentially takes over their dreamscape to do whatever he wants.
So in short, Freddy's only advantages are experience, fear, and seizing control/killing the victim before they have a chance to realize that they're actually in control
No he wasn’t. He did the accordion arms. That’s it. He’s played for horror in every other instance.
Honestly I would demolish Freddy in a dream, not a contest. I'm pretty good at lucid dreaming I would simply change the world into an 1840s plantation and turn Freddy into a disobedient slave in need of breaking.
But in Debbie's dream, she literally says she doesn't believe in Freddy. She doesn't seem scared of him. She just freaks out when her arm break off and she turns into a roach.
