When I was a teenager it was Aliens, because the better action, the larger scale and how the characters felt more fleshed out.
Now its Alien, because it has the better aesthetics, the more interesting subtext and the denser atmosphere.

Alien is a timeless, atmospheric dystopian horror film.

Aliens is an utterly typical 80s consumer product. It owes its reputation and continued relevance to the nostalgia of Gen X manbabies. The art design for the marines is good, but they're throwaway characters. The xenomorph is turned from an alien threat into big bugs with a stupid boss fight at the end, with all their unique features (acid blood, sneakiness, etc.) basically being ignored whenever its inconvenient.
The only reason it's worth watching is for Newt and her subplot with Ripley.

I much prefer Aliens. It ups the ante, expands the lore, and pretty much improves upon the original in every way. I think it's scarier much scarier too. The tension is through the roof. Alien is good too, but Aliens blew my fucking mind.

Why so much hate for Alien Ressurection ? People seems to have focus on how the hybrid alien was ugly... But you barely see him a few minutes at the end.

The plot ? Humans clone Ripley to get the alien queen she had inside her. Aliens escape, Ripley and a bunch of mercenaires have to get out of the science ship. They do. The end. Not revolutionnary for sure but not revolting.

Mutated Ripley is also annoying but she's already a bit like that in 2 and 3 and we got cute Winona android to compensate. The mercenaries are cool looking fighters. Some scenes like the flooded elevator were nice.

What's the problem ? It's not serious enough ?

3 and Isolation

Alien. Aliens wastes too much time on build up to a monster we've already seen and then proceeds to go on for what feels like too fucking long that I get bored around the time the ship crashes, despite it only being like 15 minutes longer than the previous film. The scene where the team gets destroyed in the alien nest is really good though.

Aliens but it could go either way. I tend to prefer narrative focused stories and stories with great character arcs.

I wonder how they did this, I mean I wonder if they told her not to turn around for the shot of the Xeno coming out of the water, and then replaced it with something generic and not scary when she had to turn around, because the more I watch it the more the silhouette of the Xeno looks weird in the close up
