Being percieved as funny has a lot to do with self-confidence. Blacks have an easier time getting to a high confidence level because 1) they are expected less of by society, which makes any small achievement seem like they did grandious things - think of the wizz kids "inventing" computers for example, and 2) they are on average less intelligent, and if you're less intelligent you cannot know how much there is you don't understand and how superior others are, so you feel better about yourself than you really are. Btw women select mostly for self-confidence, because in their minds being self-confident equals to being successful. That's what they really mean when the say they want a guy that can make them laugh.
