I'll start
Post real filmmakers
looks promising
en.wikipedia.org
cool visuals but nothing else
nepotism babby
all you need is good visuals and good music, good thing his movies excel at both
>jealousy
That's because movies are visual medium, retard.
go watch videoclips then
NEW
MOVIE
WHEN
same, Us was good until they decided it was a good idea to reveal everything about the underground, then it became really stupid
Us was shit past the first 20 or so minutes.
will he ever make another movie? dude has done nothing for years now
I watched some great videoclips, what are you talking about
he's working on this atm:
Didn't they run him out of the industry for being too based?
He wasn't working in Hollywood anyway
en.wikipedia.org
good that he is still in the biz, i really like his deamlike atmosphere and visuals in his movies
Me too. Mandy left a long lasting mark on me after watching it, in a good way. I appreciate the unusual combination - the cast - Nic Cage, Linus Roache, Andrea Riseborough, impressive bad guys, Bill Duke, the soundtrack was incredible - RIP JJ. Elijah Wood was producer as well. I'm trying to say that the project turned out greater than the sum of its parts, which were great to begin with. Kino.
Mandy sucked. BTBR sucked too.
His two movies were both funded by Tombstone royalties. I can't admire anyone who is where they are due to nepotism.
I think you need to look in the dictionary what nepotism actually means. Also his movies are as kino as his dad's.
>Is that...family members helping each other?!
>AAAAAAAAAAAAH HELP ME THOMAS PIKETTY
either you love or you hate it
Mandy was so fucking bad I didn't bother to see BTBR.
Reddit called.
You need to go back
>Also his movies are as kino as his dad's.
That bad, huh?
>the practice among those with power or influence of favouring relatives or friends, especially by giving them jobs.
Sounds about right.
I'd rather not go to a site where they circlejerk around these le dreamlike films.
then why are you here? that's exactly what this thread was made for
Reddit? Moshi Moshi
It says it's been shutdown though. What does that mean for Zahler? He's one of my favorite new directors. I really hope he can find someone else to finance his films
I'm assuming we're just talking about contemporary directors
I watched BTBR shortly after it came out and liked it but I couldn't finish Mandy felt like same thing but watered down to appeal to a24 and reddit
>western directors are listed 'family name, given name'
>most asian directors are listed 'given name, family name'
what did he mean by this
Panos the Manos.
cinestate is now called bonfire legend
no one cares, Chang
Well, I do, so you're objectively wrong and probably somewhat retarded.
>Chloe Zhao
lmao
This chart was made before she started making capeshit. The Rider was very good and Nomadland was alright
>The Rider was very good
The guy played a cunt in so many samurai movies
Have you actually seen it?
Yes, I checked it out when Nomadland started getting all that praise in the mainstream. Can't say I found either of them to be better than average.
He's boring.
Yorgos is the superior Greek kinoman
if you really must know then, I was just going based of how all the directors names are listed on letterboxd. then I just put the name that came second first. I'm not going to change it now though because my hard-drive that had the file is failing
Hard disagree. Yorgos is boring.
Well anons in /film/ were saying it was good, so I assumed that was the case. I haven't actually seen it
>Cosmatos
>boring
maybe if you have no attention span
>Yorgos
>boring
in what world?
/film/ has plenty of anons with very questionable taste.
true
u shouldn’t admire anyone onions
