Crichton and Spielberg shat on the character in the second novel/movie.

Considering Spielberg basically forced Crichton into write TLW and then barely even used it as a reference for the film I don't know what was going on. Lost World has the best kills out of all the JP movies though so it's always been my favorite.

LW was comfy kino

They shat on him in the first movie. His monologues in the book and movie about nature are polar opposites. In the book he talks about human influence on the planet is insignificant to what the Earth has gone through for billions of years, in the movie he literally says that Hammond and his company is "raping mother nature"

He's a creepy fuck

okay so why the fuck did he have a nigger daughter. And not even like a light-skinned mulatto, like a straight-up darkie.

Because one of his numerous ex-wives was black

But again, the daughter is a full-blown darkie, not light-skinned.

>Engineers are... le bad

hes a dark jew to be fair

it was weird that the movie starts with the beginning scene from the original book

>Lost World
>Little girl obviously getting eaten by the small dinos
>Mum looks for her, see's what's happening and screams
>Cuts to a close-up of his face
Always found that part hilarious for some reason.

Does he only play snarky assholes?

Because it's supposed to be funny, TLW has tons of black comedy.

She had a lot of bites but the girl was fine, which is what Hammond said. The scene is based on the beginning of the original Jurassic Park book; she was hospitalized and they go into detail about the bites and the venom, but she otherwise survived.

The little girl being attacked at the start freaked me out as a kid. I know they handwave it away a scene later with a quick "oh don't worry she's ok" but it was horrifying because it reminded me of this terrifying kids show that nobody remembers from the time.
It was like a British version of Goosebumps and in one episode a little Victorian era girl finds faeries at the bottom of her garden only they're feral. It ends very similarly to that Lost World bit.

>handwave
It's explained better in the book.

Book Malcolm is super annoying.

Everything about the first book is better than all the movies. They took bits and pieces from the first book in later movies to try to make the science fiction more convincing but they already messed everything up from the start.

was lunch actually ready?

Bullshit. Characters are better in the movie, the dinosaurs scene and especially the ending that in the book has some annoying elements. The book only shines because of its long dialogue scenes of characters discussing science. Which the movie has too but of course it's a different medium.

It sure was

what the fuck was vince vaugns problem and why did hee become a terrorist halfway through the movie
did.that happen in the book

I disagree.

You're a villain, sir.

you don't need to explain the scene to us, newfag

>spits in your hand

The kicker is him sabotaging Roland's elephant gun AFTER he and his men saved them and brought them on the trek after the trailer went kablamo, and this was after Roland's camp was sabotaged by them already. What an ungrateful shithead.

Roland was so bitter he could testify against him because we know he was aware of what he'd done but if we have to be perfectly honest Nick's actions only made it possible for Ludlow to transport the Buck to San Diego. But that's on Ludlow alone. Not even Roland is to blame although he probably would want to return to Kenya just in case because he could be held responsible. So Nick is not guilty in this regard. Sarah did a far worse thing she kept her bloodied jacket which attracted the Rex family. But that's also not something that would get her arrested. I just imagine someone, maybe one of the hunters who survived the incident (unless Roland was the only one which is possible) write a memoir and pointing fingers. But no one is blameless here except maybe Malcolm and Kelly.

Him releasing the dinosaurs from the cages caused the camp to get trashed and no doubt people killed, and then him sabotaging Roland's gun caused him to be unable to shoot the Rex that was eating people, leading to all of the men dying from Rex and raptors both. Those are directly his fault.
True that Ludlow made the choice to transport the tranquilized Rex, but again, it was only tranquilized because the elephant gun was tampered with.

He straight up puts dinosaur lives above human lives throughout the film. Would he go into a zoo and release a load of lions onto the zookeepers and helpers?

>supposed to be an expert animal photographer
>treats a stegosaurus infant like it's at a petting zoo
>SHOCKINGLY, its parent comes to try to turn her into shish kebab

I assumed she's not actually his biological daughter. Maybe a stepdaughter that he has custody of. There's a line that alludes to her not being his, "you see any family resemblance there?" or something.

I remember that, but it still just seems really strange. Law of conservation of detail and all that. Why make the daughter (adoptive?) darkie black when it adds nothing to the plot? All it does it make things more confusing for no purpose.

Lost World is the worst JP movie

He played the role of Dennis Nedry, surprise chaotic element that changed everything. Except of course unlike Nedry he was on the opposite side of the ethical conflict. Perhaps showing that well-meaning idealists can also be destructive? Perhaps that's reaching but I will defend TLW not just as a fun sci fi adventure movie but also because I don't think it's as dumb as people think. For example its morality is more nuanced. Aside from sadists like Dieter and the main antagonist Ludlow (who's still not evil and makes one or two good points) hunters and gatherers work together and Roland is definitely framed as a hero (also from technical point of view the movie gives him a few hero shots).

I never thought that, he says in the first film he has three kids and implies they're all from different mothers because he's always on the lookout for the "next ex-Mrs Malcolm"

This movie has some great equipment even if most of that was quickly destroyed.

No it is not

This is the same Hummer except even more modified.

well shes animal expert, not dinosaur

LW is better than JP

Not gonna post all of them just a few examples. There are three types of Jeep Wranglers in TLW. It's the same car that was in the first movie except even more modified. The one used by Ludlow and Roland was called Scout, the one attacked by the Pachycephalosaurus was Command and Dieter's car was called Harasser.

Also two types of Mercedes Unimog. Four different types of Unimog were featured in three different movies in the franchise.

Malcolm was an annoying cunt in the book.
>it'll be the end of the world if these dinosaurs escape
>ACKSHUALLY SWEETY, lemme take 2 pages to be a pedantic arsehole and take forever to say the world will still exist as a planet even though it was obvious what you meant

The Gatherers had three Mercedeses M-Class. From left to right Fontana (pushed off the cliff by the Rexes), Montana (left behind probably because Sarah decided to go to Sorna before everybody else) and Santana (the one used by Eddie to save his friends).

Who was driving the rv?

He was so unlikeable but it was probably unintentional because it was Crichton's self-insert. Or at least the characters that was the most like him because Malcolm was fully cynical while real Crichton had a lot in common with Spielberg and they bonded over their kid-live love for dinosaurs.

TLW is obviously inferior to JP1. It's less fresh, there's really weird morality going on, and the plot is pretty shallow and holey.

However on a purely technical level, it's superb. It looks great, sounds great, the effects are top notch, and as a black comedy it's pretty hilarious. I don't know if Spielberg was using it to blow off some steam after Schindler's List but it reminds me of Temple of Doom, only with much more mean spirited black comedy bits. The visual gag in OP, many of the dinosaur deaths on the island, the bit with the doghouse, the video store, etc.

I too loved the vehicles and equipment. They're the best parts if the movie. Eddie put together a hell of a package for them on such short notice. His death was brutal and undeserved. The person who should have died was Nick. That fag was THE reason that everything went to shit and so many people died.

>sees a girl getting raped and beaten by tiny dinos
>just yawns at it
Why was Ian such a fucking asshole? Has a lifetime of child pornography and beatings desensitized him? Is this true of all jews?

That would be cool to know I think Malcolm drives the first M-Class though. I think Eddie probably drove the RV as the one person who knew how everything worked. Each movie had some really cool cars and 2,4 and 5 had the best military vehicles. Also a little-known fact. In JPIII we see wrecks of Ford Explorer (the tour vehicle from the first movie) and Toyota Land Cruiser (the tour vehicle in the book).
