im not sure about the series, watched it a long time ago and remember it feeling stretched.

That's your opinion I think you're wrong but whatever.

Dunc was awful. Now bring back the non-homo Dune vidya youtube.com/watch?v=AOoTQS1oezQ

Dune was a beautiful mess, Dunc was generic capeshit. Take your pick.

Stretched? I guess so. But it's also the only one to do the books justice.

Contrarianism is a mental illness, friend

Dune easily

One think Dino's Dune fucked up is making the Sardaukar look stupid.

The miniseries was decent in following the story and it's the only one to get as far as Children, but it also had HORRENDOUS costume design. It had sardaukar out in the desert in black/purple outfits with big floppy hats. And the Barron looks ridiculous. Then they didn't so the desert scenes very well and many came off look like sand in a stage which they were. At least the worms looked better than in DUNC

have fun seen the new dune vidya-thing?
its not even a game, absolute dumspterfire

whats in the box, Yea Forums?

Dunc is such a disappointment.
You can clearly see that people cared about it and put a lot of thought into it, but it end up being such a bland and uninteresting movie.

Dune made me excited for the Dune universe and made me want to read the books.
DUNC made me want to come here and shitpost bad memes like DUNCan Iowa

Fucking contrarians.

Only because Dunc sucks ass. Dune isn't good either

really forgettable, yeah. even the cast was mostly good, it had the budget to pull of the big worms and sandstorms and everything, but the day after i saw it i didnt think about it anymore.
complete opposite with the lynch dune.

the Fremen drums were even more jarring

Well, it was only half a movie and ended right when the action was supposed to pick up.

I've watched Dune 1984 dozens of times, the miniseries a few, and DUNC once

A Johnny Depp pillow mint

I've seen Lynch/Laurentis' Dune 3 or 4 times, multiple cuts
I've seen the mini-series twice
I've seen DUNC 3 times
I've played the Cryo point-and-click and the Westwood RTS games
I've read all six Frank Herbert novels but none of the Brian Herbert novels (yet).

I think I'm just a slut for Dune.

>Made Kynes a black woman.
>Now the latest Dune video game is following suit.
Fuck Villenueve.

just say you want to be swallowed whole by shai-hulud.

a megapint

My biggest grip is why isn't the fremen leader Stilgar?

>but it also had HORRENDOUS costume design. It had sardaukar out in the desert in black/purple outfits with big floppy hats
It was pure soul and way better than DUNC or Lynch costumes. The harkonnen we're fuckin perfect.

I watched it right after reading the book and I liked it the most. Fuck off.

The french adaptation is better than both

>"Uncle, what about the sandniggers?"
>"Kill them all...!"
He went a bit far with this one

>none of the Brian Herbert novels (yet).
please user, keep it that way.

It's especially funny if you played the old 1992 game.

Have you played the Board Game?
It is really really good.

it makes the second half of the story feel like more of a real buildup.

pity the final fight ends up making even less sense the more of Frank's shitty plotting we learn about.

it's fair to say that only the theatrical cut is watchable.

A thing I truly don't understand about the "kill them all" thing.
The Harkonnens have been struggling for decades with Fremen attacks and never cared to genocide them, they just protected spice harvesters, but now that house Atreides got destroyed they suddenly decide to "kill them all"? What was the point of keeping them alive if he had the power to kill them all?
Also just before that he mentioned how this operation cost him a ton of money and how they have to produce spice again quickly, so I doubt they have the resource to engage in any kind of military action against the Fremen, why would they have to change anything anyway about their behavior to Fremen? It's not like the situation radially changed, the Atreides came and died in just a few weeks/months.

The costumes and sets were fine. Watch it as though it were a filmed stage play.

A fellow Dune slut.

You can come play the Dune board game with me and my friends. Not even kidding. Do you live in or near Pennsylvania? This is not a joke.

The Harkonnen's have a small fortified city that they venture out from to collect spice and nothing else. They think there are only a handful of dispersed Fremen that are a minor annoyance, but in reality their numbers are much higher. Everyone underestimated the power of the Fremen besides Leto so the Baron thought wiping them all out would not be much of an issue.

Yeah I remember the Harkonnens underestimated the Fremen's numbers, but still: they never genocided them for decades prior to the events of DUNC and suddenly it's "btw kill them all", a better answer would've been "what about them?"

not him, but i think its very cool of you to approach people like that in these weird times, godspeed user.

>pity the final fight ends up making even less sense the more of Frank's shitty plotting we learn about.
How so?

I think they wanted to do it because they now had no political rival in House Atreides who could rally opposition against them if they were to commit genocide and they had the favour of the Emperor who could have stepped in if popular opinion had turned against the Harkonnens.

With both of these things out of the way and with the Fremen increasing attacks on Spice production(their deals with the Smugglers and the Guild meant that they were getting resources from off world to fund their guerilla war) meant that extermination was fast becoming a viable option.

>they had the favour of the Emperor

More like they had the Emperor implicated in their scheme, which was excellent blackmail material.

Pretty much the same thing in the Dune universe.

The Baron's plan was for Rabban to be an absolute cunt of a tyrant for a while then bring in Feyd as the benevolent leader. This would give the advantage of making the Harkonnens seem tolerable enough for the Fremen to ally with. Telling Rabban to kill them was never actually going to wipe them out but Rabban would try.

DUNC made the Sardaukar lame and no-one can tell me otherwise

The warrior religion that was devised for them was ok, but their costumes were very generic. Just like the rest of the movie; generic.

i mean the scene they on salusa secundus was nice, they got nothing in the lynch dune

Lynch "Dune" until they escape and meet the Fremen is very good then it just gets rushed

lynch dune is kino. my grandfather died 20 years ago and i always remember this thing laying in his office when i was really young, before even watching the movie.

your grandfather was a true kinosseur

I thought Dunc was boring as shit

Very cool

you haven't experienced the true and definitive dune adaptation
