A lot of it depends on the movie...some songs or music may really get you in during the movie but not on their own.

For a question like this, I wonder if it's more important for the song to be great or how it fits into the given scene

It's criminal that they edited it down but objectively you won't find a better piece of music in a film than this.
Love this song
Well the whole piece is 9-10 minutes long depending on the player. They incorporated it pretty well, me thinks as a piano player whose favorite composer is Chopin.
I hear you, and I understand the necessity for the film, but regardless the way Chopin's pieces are arranged it's like taking several chapters out the mid-section of a story.
When did you start playing piano? I started as a kid but fucked it off for guitar when I hit puberty and have been umming and ahhing about picking it back up for the last twenty years. I'm just not sure the elasticity is there anymore, you know what I mean?
Not even the best song from that soundtrack
Pretty much the same. I learned strictly classical piano, started at age 7, took lessons until 17 or 18. I started electric guitar at 16 self taught. I contemplated studying music, but eventually decided against it because I didn't want to be a one trick pony without any real world education, so I studied engineering instead. Have been playing mostly guitar since then, I never bought a piano for myself. So I only practise a couple times a year when I'm home at my parents.
I'm in my 30s now, I can not play at the same level I used to which is sometimes a bit frustrating when the fingers just won't do what you expect from them. After a couple of days real practising it slowly comes back. But I still enjoy it a lot and looking at the moment to buy something digital. We have a grand piano at home so it is quite the downgrade.. but it's gonna have to do.
Never give up on it, if you put in the work it will come back to you as well I'm sure.
I AM SHOCKED
AND I SEETHE
I DON'T WNAT TO BELEIVE
