he maimed millions...
Singlehandedly destroyed the lower backs of a generation of men.
Im doing SS, squatting 125 kilos but cant wear my pants anymore except two pair of jeans
thanks ripetot
whats wrong with starting strength unironically asking
HIP DRAHVE
Take the climbpill Yea Forums
nothing, srs
95% of /fit/ are manlet pajeets that dont even lift
you do SS for like three month, you double your stats on the big lifts and then you move onto a program that is suitted for your needs
>makes a program based on increasing strength for beginners
>people seethe and cry because they don’t want to get strong they just want big biceps and flat abs
imagine if thanos snapped his fingers but also his back
I've heard of him but I'm not a /fit/izen, explain
He owns a ship called the SS GOMAD.
It’s a strength training program for athletes, mainly American football players who need a lot of core and leg strength.
99% of people online looking for programs just wanna look like Abercrombie models which takes zero strength training and comes from a combination of good genetics, youth, and a light calisthenics routine(something like 50 push ups and 200 sit ups a day).
Not going to lie, Starting Strenght made a novice like me gaing confidence pretty fast and love lift weights, then after six months of only do squats, benchpress and deadlifts I injured myself pretty bad and have not returned to the gym in 7 years.
Nothing is wrong with program, problem is modern people. How can you suggest jumping straight away doing squats and deadlifts to couch potatoes who lack mobility to squat even with bodyweight?
thank you mark rippetoe!
this pic is amazing
I've contemplated buying weights and getting ripped for the last five months now. What program should I start if I want a body like this?
But he created all those thicc boybutts for me to fuck
a good steroid program
>2011 /fit/ was 50 years ago
Not enough volume on bench. Overhead press is mostly a waste of time.
SS always was and will be a foundational routine, you are supposed to introduce complimentary exercises and rotate toward hypertrophy
--Trex mode is the fault of lazy idiots.
an adult male weighs at least 200 pounds
eat clen and tren hard
How did you injure yourself?
>Overhead press is mostly a waste of time.
lol what? it's arguably a more natural movement than the bench press and much safer
Having a novice do power cleans is not smart and they're not a great muscle building exercise.
His muscles aren't very big. All you'd need is some bodyweight exercises and calisthenics, plus a shitload of cardio and a miserable diet to get your bodyfat low enough. Also steroids would help.
Some of these guys are just GDE’s. A belly like that shouldn’t be possible for a dude under age 40, his hormones are rekt
>she did not do 5x5 on the bench and ohp
>she thinks ohp is a waste of time
toppest kek
you're not a real man if you can't squat 4 pl8s for reps
He ruined an entire generation of men. For years, his program was recommended to everyone getting into fitness for the first time.
Guys who wanted to look like Tyler Durden found themselves turning into pic related
Sterioids
>low volume
lol this person has never lifted in his life
5x5 when you're doing 100 kg squats is NOT low volume by any definition
herniated disc in the lower back
>25 reps total is a lot of volume
lmao
so what do i do u homos
slagging on ss doesn't point anyone in the right direction
>imagine thinking you can gain muscle by doing fluff and puff 8reps shenanigans with an almost barbell
meanwhile I did two months of SS, got almost two plates bench and three plates squat, and Im now doing volume with weight you can only dream of
who is going to gain muscle, me benching close to two plates for reps, or you doing 8reps with half a plate
dumbass niggers
Who cares what's more natural? If that's your argument why aren't you advocating for dumbbells? Been exclusively barbell benching for 10 years, never been injured.
SS->3 Day TM/HLM->4 day TM->conjugate
25 reps with straight reps at 80-90% of max is not low volume you literal nigger
yeah benching 2 plates must feel good
>100 kg squats
>tfw hitting 1/2/3/4 5x5 at the end of this week
>Steroids
>5ft 6 (167.6 cm)
good user
Im going to squat 130 friday if everything goes well tomorrow, feelsgoodman
Nice try but I bench 295 for 10x3. OHP is a waste of time
>2pl8
>heavy
fucking christ. post body
None of that is true.
5x5 squatting 2x a week is a lot of volume for beginners on an LP
De loading works fine and the program tells you to drop it if you find yourself deloading too many weeks in a row
My only issue with the program is that you don’t have enough pulling movements. I find I need 2 sets of back exercise for every press to balance out the imbalances you get just from sitting in an internally rotated posture 80% of the day in modern life.
The main benefit of SL and SS is that they require you to increase the weight. Most beginners come in scared of the weights and use only babby weight and then wonder why they have no gains after 6 months when they should be doubling their lifts in the first 12 weeks
Many times when I liftwith dyels I go to increase the weight and they get scared. I tell them “don’t worry you got that last set easy this will be no problem for you” and they look like they are going to cry. After a bit of bullying they end up lifting the heavier weight no problem. They had no idea that they could do it because they heard something about focusing on form and not getting injured which to them meant “never lift enough weight that it feels even slightly challenging otherwise you you are guaranteed to snap your shit”
i just did 10 pushups for you guys!
DR4XA
literally nothing wrong with top right
Brad Pitt didn’t lift until he played Achilles in Troy. That body was pure genetics(and also completely dyel, he was no more than 145 lbs)
5x5 isn't what SS calls for. So you agree SS doesn't have enough bench volume, thanks.
>twitter.com
It's fucking real lmao
I mean, only huge brainlets or complete noobs would not tweak their programs
On squat or diddly? I’ve never hurt myself on DL but I think back squats are overrated and should be replaced with front squats or trap bar DL’s in 99% of cases.
i doubt they are still friends, i don't see rippetoe as a vaccine-taker type guy. and taleb doesn't tolerate anyone at all with that view

as a fellow appreciator of thicc boipucci and meaty thighs, I agree
>leddit
opinion discarded
noobs need to learn the lifts and get a strength base
don't modify any routines intended for beginners
things get more interesting after those, after milking the noob gains
Doesn’t matter the dude is still roiding. Nobody has the discipline to get to that low bf natty. It’s just not a thing when sterons are so plentiful and cheap. Odds are 1/1000 that he’s natty.
who plays him?
>humblebragging about a 2pl8 squat
Based. Runlets will seethe at this but it’s true.
I have massive thighs thanks to squatting every workout but hank hill ass...
Am i not activating my glutes correctly?
Im squatting lmao3pl8 for reps so ive been doing it for a while...
>Nobody has the discipline to get to that low bf natty
It's really not that hard dude. I don't give a shit about roiding at all but you can absolutely achieve that natty
>Starting Strength doesn't w-
I'm 5'11", 150lbs, and 30 years old. I'm looking to lose some random flab (love handle) and build some mass especially on my legs and forearms. What is an easy to follow routine for a total novice?
There's so much conflicing stuff out there, lads, it's honestly demoralizing and I'm unable to figure out where to begin. I was looking at SS and SL, but then I read about how they are both shit.
I think I'd feel better using dumbbells, anyway.
god you're retarded
I obviously can squat more than 2 plates, but my point was that 5x5 is not low volume when you're doing big boy weights
no advanced lifter does 5x5 at 80-90% of 1rm which is the goal of Strong lifts
it would ruin them for a week
Noobs like the ones that would be doing STARTING strength?
I mean it really just depends what you want out of your routine. Doing cardio when you're trying to be a powerlifter for example is a complete waste of time, but if you're joining the army or something? You might want a bit of cardio
Squats barely hit glutes. Do DL for glutes
All routines are giant memes. 95% of your progress is based on genetics, the other 5% is diet and the time you spend on the gym.
sounds like it could be you are not squatting very low nor taking much time to initially rise. but i don't know much at all. are you using weights?
>power clean
tfw it's banned to do it in my gym
You could theoretically but nobody does. It’s like saying you could walk 12 miles to the store and back but your car is right there and nobody wants to waste the time and effort. It wouldn’t be impossible and after you did it you might think “hey that wasn’t even that hard” but the car is there, you’re gonna reach for the keys.
based thiccboi enjoyer
>I'm 5'11", 150lbs, and 30 years old. I'm looking to lose some random flab (love handle)
That's some extreme skinny fat right there.
>SS and SL are both shit
The only people who think this are contrarian dipshits. If you've never lifted before they are fine. Honestly they're just stepping stones for you to understand the mechanics of building your own routine. Just do them , what matters is actually going to the gym and eating better not /fit/ autism about finding out which routine let's you become a super Saiyan fastest.
and that's how I snapped my lower back
Fatty detected
>dyel
>only interested in spot gains/reductions
Ngmi. You have a critical case of Woman Brain.
running on concrete is fucking terrible for your back and knees, specially if you are a fatty trying to lose weight. You should run on grass or sand
Kinobody (yes, that's the real name). Trains for that build.
>running is the only form of cardio
Nice try runlet, but I like my knees. Enjoy your shin splints while I hit the rower for those juicy back gains.
All I care about in life is increasing my squat, deadlift, and bench. Isolation exercising and/or brosplitting is for a shits and not worth my time
same, sometimes I want to do gymbro stuff but doing isolation shit bores me to hell
I just want to squat and deadlift, I dont know why
>That's some extreme skinny fat right there.
Mostly just skinny, I guess. I bike about an hour a day and do ~5 hours of cardio a week (usually bag work and sparring).
I'll give SS a shot I guess, but I'll probably seek out a trainer so I can figure out the proper form.
Okay.
Ironically brosplits work really well as long as you’re consistent. You won’t hit the same max numbers but you’ll see steady progress with the right volume.
