I think the idea is they couldn't cast someone else as Iron Man but have everyone pretend it's the same person that RDJ was playing. Like how they replaced Terrence Howard with Don Cheadle and Edward Norton with Mark Ruffalo. But since Iron Man died I don't really see why they'd need to make it contractually binding anyway. The only way they could do that is if they literally brought Iron Man back to life somehow but then not have be played by RDJ.

But I don't see why you think it's more likely that he somehow is able to dictate how Disney uses the work he has already done than it is for him to have his character work protected.

Before Daniel Craig James Bond had no real continuity. M might have been played by the same actress but it was understood that Daniel Craig was a different character than Pierce Brosnan, even though both characters were called James Bond.

Yes. It's ludicrous for him to even think about asking that. It isn't how any of it works. Disney asked him to play a character for money. He did. They paid him. Their contract is complete. He does not own the footage or the rights to the character. He owns the rights to his face. If they use his face he gets a cut. That's it.
