No, the finale wasn't as bad as everyone says. Many who sperg out over what happens with Daenerys unironically got filtered. The last White Walker episode was far far worse and is the actual lowest point of the show.

Also the show's been bad since Tywin died, and the cracks started showing even before that. Shirtless Ramsay in S4 was the first scene where you could really feel the D&D rot seeping into the pores of the story and moments like that started multiplying until they became constant in season 5 6 7 8 with rare exceptions like Hardhome.

The last episode I watched from GoT was when Lannister Chad and smug hobo infiltrated Spain and got caught by the sand snakes. I stopped right there since I hated the fight scene. Is it worth finishing the series? It started to feel like characters were being killed for the sake of it, and not because they had any sort of plot relevance.

I'll give you honest advice: watch season 5 episode 8 called Hardhome, watch season 6 episode 10 called Winds of Winter, watch season 7 episode 4 called The Spoils of War. They're decent episodes with spectacle that does not get ruined by stupidity, all the other episodes surrounding them are garbage. You could also season 6 episode 9 called Battle of the Bastards because it's good spectacle too but be warned that it is retarded if you try and use your brain.

I can think of worse finales, but I think what makes Game of Thrones so bad is the wasted potential, and the fall. You can debate the season where it stopped, but there was a time where it was simultaneously the best and the most popular show on TV.

There’s no indication that the books will follow even the basic outlines of the tv plot except where forced to by prophecy and even then it’s easy enough as a writer to foil or twist a prophecy if you want to

the books are are *much* more complicated than the show
there are so many charatercs/plots/subtleties the show simply skipped that its outright impossible for it to be the same

i do believe some major plot points will be the same, but with *vastly* different routes being taken to reach them

sadly its extremely unlikely GRRM will actually finish the story himself
best we can hope for is book 6 being released Soon(TM), and adequate notes being left for some other author to finish the story passably well.

Not him but I had post-traumatic stress (been in two major car wrecks, also watched a family member die gruesomely firsthand). Probably not as severe as his, but it’s still there.

It’s sort of like an anxiety disorder I guess. It’s basically an over reactive stress response. A lot of nightmares, a lot of waking up confused and disorientated in the middle of the night. The occasional panic attack. Fight-or-flight gets triggered when you are in a situation that reminds you of whatever memories traumatized you. That’s what the word “triggered” actually means in the real world. Something triggers your PTSD and suddenly you feel like you’re right back in the thick of it.

In the worst moments, it feels like your mind is going to detach from your body. In especially bad cases (generally worse than mine) it does, because the adrenaline response can override your conscious mind; it’s like you get startled, you black out, and come to a few seconds later realizing you’ve hit somebody. Only happened to me once. Still very freaky to experience.

His fucking skin turned green—literally green—his right retina had become dislodged from a tumor. The shit was growing from everywhere. Lumps were growing through his nose, through his chest. All the weight came off him, like Christian Bale in the machinist. He lost his mind, almost constant delirium and paranoia, and spoke nonsense, if he spoke at all. He was supposed to die before Christmas; unfortunately he lived til almost new years. And I still remember his dying breaths. The rattling gasps, the big bloodshot eyes, the fear. The way a child gets fear; big and overwhelming. If I had to do it over again, I’d just shoot him. The neighbors were gardening when he passed. He died listening to a fucking weedwhacker. I don’t know why that bothers me so much, but it does. Had nightmares about it almost every night for a year. But life goes on.
