define flop. it likely won't match the BO of the first film because the marketplace has changed in the last 13 years: the novelty value of 3D is gone, certain viewers will wait for streaming options at home, other viewers are still scared of covid and a release in china is not exactly a given considering xi's crackdown on anything western. it will still make a ton of money though.

In the trailer we can see three dragon assault ships in the shot between 48 and 52 seconds. During the first movie there was only one of these on Pandora. Waynfleet and Quarritch also both got their own Avatar bodies, so my guess is you are about to see the RDA marines kick some ass.

The defeat of the humans comes down to two factors. Neither of these is the ability of the mutaded Indian catsmurfs to fight. If you'd watched the movie in the last ten years you'd remember that the humans lost because :
1) the blue cat Indians had a race traitor on their side, with stolen grenades, and working knowledge of the human equipement (namely, valkyrie shuttles don't fly so good when you drop a primed grenade in the air intake of the jet engines used for hover). No grenade or no knowledge of the workings of the valkyrie shuttle, the tree of souls gets bombed, game over for the navi.
2) a litteral act of god. The navi forces were in full retreat by the time the god of Pandora decides to unleash the animals onto the humans.
Now, that being said, I'm also looking forward to some space marine kino, and I suspect we're about to get it
