Controversial/unpopular opinions

Monty Python is painfully unfunny.
Inglourious Basterds is the best Tarantino movie.
TDKR is unironically great, TDK is overrated.
Most of Disney/Dreamworks/Pixar movies are boring/bad/average, including Toy Story.
Pan's Labirtynth is overrated.
Matrix 2 and 3 are flawed but much more interesting than Matrix 1.
Star Wars ep. I-III are complete trash and they are equally bad (shouldn't be a controversial opinion, but for some reason people like it here).
Man of Steel and BvS are complete trash (the same as above).

You can’t expect any 40+ year old movie to be funny, humor was pretty bare bones back then

I found Casablanca (which isn't even a comedy) much funnier.

big ups liquid richard

Airplane

>Monty Python is painfully unfunny.
Correct.
>Inglourious Basterds is the best Tarantino movie.
Dunno.
>TDKR is unironically great, TDK is overrated.
Nah.
>Most of Disney/Dreamworks/Pixar movies are boring/bad/average, including Toy Story.
Right.
>Pan's Labirtynth is overrated.
Didn't watch it.
>Matrix 2 and 3 are flawed but much more interesting than Matrix 1.
No fucking way.
>Star Wars ep. I-III are complete trash and they are equally bad (shouldn't be a controversial opinion, but for some reason people like it here).
You're right.
>Man of Steel and BvS are complete trash (the same as above).
Yes.

Python is a product of its time and I hate the whole "well I don't find it funny in 2022" thing that completely removes context and historical meaning, it's legit autistic

Basterds isn't even a fucking movie, it's just a parody of "What if every WW2 movie collided at once" and zoomers love it because they don't recognize it's a shitpost

your TDKR take is legit contrarianism

As is the Pixar take but their movies have been shit since 2015

Pan's is overrated but I still enjoy it

Matrix sequels are only interesting if you're a fart-sniffing fratbro who thinks he's smart for taking a single Philosophy course (Zach Snyder)

The prequels are bad movies but they aren't as bad as the sequels because at least Lucas had some form of story he wanted to tell past nostalgia bait. I still hate having to pretend I like these movies for the sake of talking to retarded zoomers, Anakin isn't a whiny bitch and Warcraft 3 is a better Anakin story that ROTS

Snyder is a legitimate retard and only spics and pajeets think he's smart

>Matrix 2 and 3 are flawed but much more interesting than Matrix 1.
Nah. 1 is the only good one because you can watch it as a straightforward action flick. Wachowskis are hacks.

I watched Some Like It Hot (1959) recently and thought it was pretty funny. Some comedy holds up better than others.

Movies & TV shows are shit

>Star Wars ep. I-III are complete trash and they are equally bad (shouldn't be a controversial opinion, but for some reason people like it here).

People here only like those to shit on disney and sequels

>humor was pretty bare bones back then
film humor was bare bones
standup was still funny

Yeah there are definitely some old comedies that can still make you laugh, but they’re rare for most young people

no, there are a lot of zoomers who watched them as kids and want to have their childhoods validated. Millenials too.

>tfw a 29 year old man once shouted me down for "hating George Lucas" cause I went on a tangent about how it's hard to find the original copies of the OT

Fight club is alright, not bad but not amazing either.

> TDKR is unironically great

Nobody but you think so

you realise people are ironic about liking capeshit here

The Marx Brothers are still hilarious to me, no clue how they do it since most old comedy also completely fizzles for me

>Monty Python is painfully unfunny.
The ultimate filter. Plebs can never understand the brilliance of funny fish dance, and I'd have it no other way.

>Inglourious Basterds is the best Tarantino movie.
>Star Wars ep. I-III are complete trash and they are equally bad (shouldn't be a controversial opinion, but for some reason people like it here).

I don't think these are very controversial. Inglourious Basterds is probably the only Tarantino movie that could really quality as being actual art and everyone knows that the Star Wars prequels are terrible.

>Monty Python is painfully unfunny.
True
>Inglourious Basterds is the best Tarantino movie.
On the contrary, without Christoph Waltz it would have been Tarantino's worst movie
>TDKR is unironically great, TDK is overrated.
Capeshit goes right into the trash
>Most of Disney/Dreamworks/Pixar movies are boring/bad/average, including Toy Story.
Yeah, no shit, they are for children
>Pan's Labirtynth is overrated.
>Matrix 2 and 3 are flawed but much more interesting than Matrix 1.
Bait
>Star Wars ep. I-III are complete trash and they are equally bad
All Star Wars movies are trash (expect for Rogue One which is a decent action flick)
>Man of Steel and BvS are complete trash
Capeshit goes right into the trash

Not even the people behind python understand its success as some kind of cultural landmark, but the fact that there has never been or there will ever be anything like it either in concept or execution again is what makes it important as television, unfunny but not boring is a good quality.

>autistic
How does being autistic has anything to do with recognising something as a product of its time?
>they don't recognize it's a shitpost
I do and that's why I liked it.
>your TDKR take is legit contrarianism
>As is the Pixar take
Why?
>Matrix sequels are only interesting if you're a fart-sniffing fratbro who thinks he's smart for taking a single Philosophy course
I am not talking about philosophical themes, more about general structure and the plot choices.
>Warcraft 3 is a better Anakin story that ROTS Snyder is a legitimate retard and only spics and pajeets think he's smart
Based.
Why are here then?
I do too but it doesn't change my opinion on the prequels.
Then where is 90% audience RT coming from?
Genuinely, I have no idea.
Many people shit on IB and defend the prequels here.
>Yeah, no shit, they are for children
Many movies intended for children can also appeal to adults.
>Bait
No.

>Then where is 90% audience RT coming from

Theyre plebs

>Monty Python is painfully unfunny.
I respect what they did but I agree it's a bit overrated.
>Inglourious Basterds is the best Tarantino movie.
It was alright but it dragged on a bit too long and the the theatre bombing was lackluster.
>TDKR is unironically great, TDK is overrated.
I didn't like how they mentioned them bomb was incredibly unstable and immediately the first thing Batman did was hook it to the plane and drag it out straight to the ground. It should exploded on impact with the ground. And Anne Hathaway was not a good cast choice.
>Most of Disney/Dreamworks/Pixar movies are boring/bad/average, including Toy Story.
Toy Story is fine, A Bugs Life was pretty kino, but Cars and afterwards fucking sucked.
>Pan's Labirtynth is overrated.
Agreed. The only part I remember was the Pale Man and I was pissed when I watched it to learn he was only there for a short bit.
>Matrix 2 and 3 are flawed but much more interesting than Matrix 1.
can't say anything, I don't care to watch the Matrix.
>Star Wars ep. I-III are complete trash and they are equally bad (shouldn't be a controversial opinion, but for some reason people like it here).
Menace was okay, Clones was boring, and Sith was pretty good because it was investing to watch how Anakin became Vader. Not the best scenes and the dialogue was a bit clunky. The part I hate the most beside some stupid convo between Anakin and Obi Wan righr after they land at the beginning was the casting of Samuel L Jackson.
>Man of Steel and BvS are complete trash (the same as above).
absolutely agree. Affleck's Batman sucked dick.

>Monty Python is painfully unfunny.
The sketch show is mostly unfunny, but some sketches are gold. The movies are good though.

>It was alright but it dragged on a bit too long and the the theatre bombing was lackluster.
Too add to this point, as cliche as it is, I think Pulp Fiction is his best even though I think people jerk it off too much. Tarantino is a hack. I think Kill Bill is his worst film.

>A Bugs Life was pretty kino
I think this was my favorite Pixar movie, along with Incredibles.
>The only part I remember was the Pale Man
Yeah, I was expecting much more fantasy elements too.
Liked KB1, didn't see 2.

I rewatched TDKR and the second half was actually pretty great for a kid's birthday party movie

John Wick is one of the worst films I’ve ever seen. It’s like a 12 yr old made a movie.

Bugs Life is my favorite Pixar movie, I loved the chess short at the beginning of the VHS. Incredibles was good too, I was disappointed with the sequel. They waitied too long to make it.
I couldn't get past the "Pussy Wagon" and "Wiggle your big toe" scene. I just rolled my eyes and said fuck it. I don't care for Uma Thurman anyway

John Wick is the most reddit movie made other than comic book extended universe shit.
le epic wholesome keanu chungus 100 didn't help it because he could have said enough is enough but he's willing to Bruce Willis that shit and do it for 30 fucking years.

>I was disappointed with the sequel. They waitied too long to make it.
The problem isn't that they took too long but that they didn't really make interesting screenplay in this time. I2 is just a copy of Incredibles with some things reversed (wife is fighting crime instead of husband). They should have made time skip instead of immediate sequel.

Go back faggot

I would have liked it 10 years ago. But the wife taking the lead over the husband thing didn't feel like a story made just because they thought it would be cool, I think they just made it for me too movement women are empowered thing going around at that time.Helen is a great character, I just think they tried to alpha her up a bit too much. I loved the scene where she saved the kids in the airplane in the first one. It was perfect.
But I don't think you should wait 10+ years to do a sequel. I remember as a kid seeing The Jungle Book 2: Mowgli's Electric Boogaloo or whatever the fuck it was, and all I could think was: Fucking. Why.

first one had great action and memorable characters, nice streamlined gunfu flick. Second and third got way too serious and absurd with the "world-building" and the action got very unrealistic

Matrix 2 and 3 are just over complicated retreads of ideas that were done better in the first one

Horse Feathers is dope.

I'll grant you that. The first one wasn't bad, I probably just don't want to like it because I'm jaded to the point I equate Keanu Reeves with annoying meme kids now. But I tried to watch Antebellum a while back and I just thought it was one pointless scene.
And the way Keanu holds a gun annoys me. I know it's prabably the right way in the given situation but it just looks fucking goofy.

It still could have been good. Incredibles is from 2004, before MCU and this whole capeshit craze. They could make some commentary on it, make fun out of hero worship etc. But they just repeated things. And the plot twist was very obvious.

reddit-tier opinions

Yeah, especially Pixar/Disney one.

I hate Saving Private Ryan and Apocalypse Now

One more: Mission impossible 5&6 are very overrated and forgettable.

>Monty Python is painfully unfunny.
>Inglourious Basterds is the best Tarantino movie.
>Matrix 2 and 3 are flawed but much more interesting than Matrix 1.

What are your thoughts on Platoon and Full Metal Jacket?
I liked the beach scene at the beginning of Ryan. I guess that caused some old war survivors to freak the fuck out, if the stories were true.It ran on too long though I think.
Never saw Apocalypse Now.

not an argument.

FIght Club collapsed into what it was supposedly criticizing in the final act and this causes retarded edgelords to misinterpret the film.

Who said anything about an argument?

Btw, Troy is very good and underrated.

Doesn't American Psycho have a similar problem?

>doesn't have the cajones to voice his own opinions, only memes and too scared too have a discussion
come on buddy. you're better than this.

all capeshit including batman is cringe, grown ass man going around wearing a stupid ass looking bat helmet, holy shit lmao

I dont know if its an unpopular opinion but I never watched a harry potter movie and dont intend to ever do so.

If you are a grown person, this is perfectly understandable. I've seen 1-4 as a kid.

I'm not as familiar with American Psycho (I haven't read the book). I don't think that movie had the same level of pretense as Fight Club did though. By the end of AP only a retard would have the take that emulating Patrick Batemen is the message of the movie; most people walking away from FC unironically want to be a part of Project Mayhem and it never crossed their minds that it was a cult.

You're a fucking retard. Try interpreting art for yourself instead of copying tumblr tier takes.

I agree with all of this.

Yeah, I am 32 but I also never watched them when I was a kid back then.

You fucking retards get so upset when someone calls you out for looking up to a mentally ill fictional character. I think you might actually be the weird one.
And tumblr? is this fucking 2016?

I was a huge fan of books so it was a must watch for me.

well dipshits like this certainly think the point is to emulate Bateman.

I'm the original user you replied to (i.e. ). I'm interested in hearing your take--ignore the faggot.
