Alan Moore's opinion about superheroes

>I have no interest in superheroes, they were a thing that was invented in the late 1930s for children, and they are perfectly good as children’s entertainment. But if you try to make them for the adult world then I think it becomes kind of grotesque.

>I haven’t read any superhero comics since I finished with ‘Watchmen.’ I hate superheroes,” Moore told the Guardian in an interview published late last week. “I think they’re abominations. They don’t mean what they used to mean. They were originally in the hands of writers who would actively expand the imagination of their nine- to 13-year-old audience. That was completely what they were meant to do and they were doing it excellently. These days, superhero comics think the audience is certainly not nine to 13, it’s nothing to do with them. It’s an audience largely of 30-, 40-, 50-, 60-year old men, usually men, mostly sexist losers.

>I wanted to kind of make this like, 'Yeah, this is what Batman would be in the real world'. But I had forgotten that actually to a lot of comic fans, that smelling, not having a girlfriend—these are actually kind of heroic! So actually, sort of, Rorschach became the most popular character in Watchmen. I meant him to be a bad example. But I have people come up to me in the street saying, "I am Rorschach! That is my story!' And I'll be thinking: 'Yeah, great, can you just keep away from me, never come anywhere near me again as long as I live'?

>write fucking comic books, an entertainment medium for toddlers
>still act too mature and 2deep4u
the very hungry caterpillar has more literary value than anything this faggot has shat out

pretty retarded take because it's like saying "cowboy films used to be only for children, but then they started making them for adults too" and implying that's a bad thing

>I hate superheroes and adults who read comics
>Makes a career drawing superhero comic books for adults
British people are fucking retarded

based. fuck nerds

Cowboy films didn't used to be for children.

yes they did saddlefag

>I have no interest in superheroes, they were a thing that was invented in the late 1930s for children, and they are perfectly good as children’s entertainment. But if you try to make them for the adult world then I think it becomes kind of grotesque.
YOU STARTED THAT YOU STUPID BASTARD! YOU AND MILLER!

actually they were because a lot of kids watched them too
forget cowboy movies though, insert any example you can think of
"fairy tales are for kids, therefore it's dumb to make a fictional movie for adults" is basically what he's saying

>says he hates superheroes
>after watchmen writes league of extraordinary gentlemen, a superhero comic that can pretend to not be about superheroes because all the heroes are characters from literature
Moore is a hypocritical faggot.

When? The first Westerns were silent films made for the general audience. They include violent scenes in them and everything.

>complains about the idea of superhero comics for adults
>makes the most famous superhero comic for adults
moore is a retard with no self awareness

he’s ugly I don’t respect him

Comic book writers are just failed authors. Authors are just failed poets. Poets are just failed composers.

He obviously hates himself and his career as a creator of kids entertainment

>saddlefag
I'm stealing this.

artists are just failed jocks

Watchmen was a boring movie i thought

but this guy literally makes edgy adult superhero comics for a living

and you're just a failed shitoposter

He can't face the truth that a lot of famous fiction is in fact capeshit. Many people can't. Because they're ironically more childish than some of the people who read this stuff.

>They were originally in the hands of writers who would actively expand the imagination of their nine- to 13-year-old audience.
No, they were originally escapist fantasies. Superman was strong, could fly, and couldn't be hurt. Batman was rich and hit bad guys. It was always about expanding the number of heroes and comics to make as much money as possible. Alan made more money than art.

and frogposters are just failed humans

He's also just bitter about his contract with DC not giving him enough royalties for Watchmen or some shit.

no I'm Alan Moore

>It’s an audience largely of 30-, 40-, 50-, 60-year old men, usually men, mostly sexist losers.

If he hates it so much then he must be a talentless loser that is incapable of creating anything beside immature children's entertainment, since he made his entire career out of it.

I mean, to an extent he's right but he also includes rape in most of his stories, so.

He’s not wrong. Imagine coasting along in life thinking and doing something and then being bothered by some 30 year old manchild who couldn’t grow up so he spouts some dumbass line from some drawn comic book cartoon. Like, grow the fuck up and read some philosophy or some really good novels like Paradise Lost or The Brothers Karamazov.
I really feel and understand people like Alan Moore, Harrison Ford, and Alec Guinness now.

Fuck this Bolshevik Commie Boomer

the average IQ of the modern adult mutt in the west is about equivalent to that of a white thirteen year old from the 1950s

He is a complete hypocrite because he is directly responsible for the shit that he is complaining about

He said this after he'd stopped writing superheroes I'm pretty sure, but I do think he's personally motivated by his shitty deal at DC. I agree with him, though, edgy, gritty superheroes "for adults" can be pretty cringe when not handled correctly. When Moore did it it was something unique at the time, now it's become the norm. I think that's why he regrets it.

I’d beat the shit out of geriatric Alan Moore and you should too

>league of extraordinary gentlemen
>1999-2019
He better have said that in the last three years then, otherwise he's a hypocrite.

>edgy, gritty superheroes "for adults" can be pretty cringe when not handled correctly
they are an inherently cringe concept. and all the shit that came after him was directly inspired by him and copying him. every criticism that can be said of any other for adult superhero story can be said of moore's work. he just doesn't see it or admit it because he is blinded by his own narcissism.

He has flat out said he regrets writing The Killing Joke for that exact reason.

and still he kept writing adult superhero comics, as points out. face it, the man is a huge hypocrite. when everyone else does it it's bad and wrong, but when he does it it's justified.

>is a cuck
>his wife leaves him with her girlfriend, taking the kids
>calls anyone else a loser

Jocks are just failed soliders

Soldiers are just failed muh-rines.

marines are just failed VDV paratroopers

this nigga did 30 issues of superman series(supreme) a decade after watchmen, it was good stuff too

>VDV paratroopers are just failed Neo-Nazi extremists

he seems insecure. if i was famous for writing comic books i would own it. did someone belittle him and it made him become all serious or something.

>mostly sexist losers.
kek what? the superhero audience is basedboys, this dude is disconnected from reality

>implying little boys don't love a good shootout
Roy Rogers is not for adults, user

This only really became a thing when the MCU kicked off. before that, most of the comic book reading audience in the 80s and 90s looked like Comic Book Guy.

Understandable, Moore hate what super heroes comicbook has become, it was supposed to be children's entertainent not a man/womanchild's hugbox.

In The Great Train Robbery the conductor gets his skull caved in with a piece of coal and the entire gang gets killed out in the woods lol.

Yes, he hate himself but too much of a pussy to admitted it, lmao.

>But if you try to make them for the adult world then I think it becomes kind of grotesque.
This is the man who wrote smut of underage children from classic literature. I don't like Superheroes either but I don't take Moore seriously

>beta doesn't understand the grindset

Btw, he never said this. OP added that part in for some reason.

Moore ushered it in and everything he writes using other people's characters is all needlessly edgy like Harry Potter being a school shooter or turning a raped Alice into an opium addict. Moore can cry about Superheroes being grotesque but all he deals in is the grotesque

>edgelord comic artist complains about edgelord comic fans
I think this is poetic justice

All I remember from Moore post watchmen was some cthulu comic where a women being raped took up like half the narrative lol

>He made an entire comic series because he thought Thatcher would minecraft the gays in camps.
He was a spaz.

All Moore does is rape. When you even have Swamp Thing getting raped you have gone too far

based Alan

He also wrote Supreme and 1963.
