So at the last two part tribal, Rocksroy goes home from tribal council A, and during tribal council B, upon seeing two black players on the jury, Drea and Maryanne chimp out, blow their hidden immunity idols, and both rant about how the game is clearly racist.
This is an issue for two reasons that no one at any point brought up:
1) During tribal council A, Rocksroy had a tribe wide plan already set up for Romeo to be the vote. Omar found out and scrambled. Rocksroy being voted off was the result of a Puerto Rican gay guy, a bisexual Mexican guy, and an asexual virgin Muslim. The only person who voted to keep the black guy WAS THE WHITE GUY.
2) Lindsey, Thor and Maryanne had the original plan to blindside Drea because she had a hidden immunity idol, an extra vote, the amulet, and the steal an advantage. The original plan, which consisted of two women (one black) and a single white guy (who everyone admits has been basically keeping everyone alive by winning them food to that point) was about flushing idols and advantages that could be or likely would be, used against the three of them. Now it turned out that the most protected and most advantaged player in the entire history of the game up to that point HAPPENED to be a black woman, but instead of talking about four gameplay advantages during a tribal council where a blindside devised by one black woman to oust another black woman was planned, the whole show turned into EVERYONE HATES BLACK PEOPLE AND WE MUST UNITE AGAINST RACISM SO ALL BLACK'S PLAY IDOLS AND THE WHITE GIRL HAS TO PLAY HER SHOT IN THE DARK, NO DISCUSSION FURTHER REQUIRED.
And all of this during the season that had a pregnant tranny and Jeff Probst promising not to say things like "come on in guys", something he's said since day one of season one, lest it trigger someone.
WHAT IS HAPPENING
Gabriel Jackson
i dont think it could have been avoided but jonathan might have mitigated the situation by telling drea that tori was the vote instead of maryanne before tribal
Jace James
What did you expect after the shitshow from last season?
Jason Edwards
That might have helped, but it was seeing Rocksroy on the jury that set Drea off in the first place, and by extension the whole thing. Up to that point, she didn't know what Jonathan had told Maryanne.
What annoyed me as an audience member was that no one had the presence of mind to refocus the conversation on the idols.
The original plan was to flush one idol. The tribal ended with two idols getting flushed, the person no one wanted to work with voted off, and the two whiniest, cringey, self aggrandizing players to alienate basically everyone.
The contents of that tribal won't stay a secret for the rest of the game and now Maryanne and Drea have no immunity and six people mad at them.
Asher Peterson
I blame mostly budget cutbacks for that.
26 days instead of 39.
16-18 contestants instead of 20.
12-13 episodes (whether or not some are released as double episodes, plus reading of the vote episode and reunion episode all happening at the same time as the finale, which takes place right after the final immunity challenge when the tribe goes from 4 to 3 and 3 people go before the jury and not 2) instead of 16 episodes plus finale and reunion episode separate.
Simple food rewards like sandwiches and pizza instead of helicopter rides around the islands and nights at all inclusive spa resorts.
More advantages of various different types always being around constantly instead of one immunity necklace and MAYBE a single hidden immunity idol.
Because of idols and advantages we've now had entire tribal councils where a player has been ousted without a vote even being cast.
It's ridiculous.
Hudson Ward
This is honestly fucking nothing after the last big brother and survivor seasons. It didn't bother me at all, and I really want to fuck Tori. Jonathan looked like an idiot taking it personally.
Jayden Gutierrez
Ok
Levi Robinson
Stopped watching Big Brother something like 8 seasons ago.
What thing happened in the last bunch of Survivor seasons to really tip you off the most?
Cameron Gonzalez
Is there a video? I haven’t watched survivor in a while
In Survivor the black players made a black-only alliance because they needed to win for “da culture”, despite the fact that there have been plenty of black winners before.
Asher Garcia
I was a huge BB fan, a big TAR fan and a little lesser of a Survivor fan.
I watched the first few weeks of the last BB until the black alliance formed and that was it for me. I'll see what the cast looks like. The last BB was the lowest rated season yet and like 30% of their viewers stopped watching.
I didn't see the last 1/3rd of Survivor last year. The pregnant tranny thing and the "come on guys" stuff was almost enough for me to turn it off, but the failed black alliance was about the end of it for me. The season before it wasn't much better with the sexual harassment stuff.
And I gave up on TAR after they focused some ep around a gay couple in the Middle East winning a comp one or two seasons ago.
Sounds like Survivor shit though. I haven't turned it on as wrestling's on at the same time.
Jace Cox
Every fucking time.
Nicholas Flores
season 43 should be in wyoming in january and no crew or contestants, just probst.
Jacob Campbell
They even called it a “POC alliance”, but their first target was an immigrant Asian woman.
Jose White
That's funny. I noticed they've been focusing the BBC meme on Asians too. Wonder what the plan is.
Benjamin Barnes
The Cookout is kind of a bad example.
A 6 way alliance in a game where each player is part of a two person team means the Cookout started with a 12 person voting block. No amount of strategy on earth can overcome bare faced attrition like that.
It was the limited imagination of the other 5 black non-winners that allowed the winner be the winner. Had any one of the five opened up their minds to the possibility that the final six didn't HAVE to be all black, any one of them could have been the actual winner. But because it meant more to six people that the winner MUST be black, five people went home losers because they couldn't accept a non-black player getting second place.
Angel Ross
People still watch this shit? I stopped watching after Australia.
Eli King
Undercover Brothas wanted to vote out the girls.
I'd bet my next paycheck someone on production told them to team up with them instead and the next episode was a 180 for them.
How well do you honestly think Survivor 43 would do if it was 20 of the blackest people they could find and no other players?
When they can't blame bad strategy on racism and alllllllll of the worst of the worst black stereotypes, for both men and women, are full front and center and they can't be ignored or magic wand waved off, what would the show look like?
Jeff Probst would be called a nigga before the first tribal.
Juan Wright
imagine paying for this trash everyone i know who has a paramount+ subscription is canceling it
Charles Parker
im so sick of this bigger than the game bullshit
they have never even cast a native american before and these blacks people cry every time
Joshua Allen
61 years old, sole host of 42 seasons worth of content. He's holding up better than could rightfully be expected.
Carson Stewart
Don't be stupid, there'd certainly be some different shades of black people on there and they'd make a point to discuss how differently light blacks, dark blacks, and actual africans are treated by each other. Racism within the black community would be discussed at length.
Dominic Sanchez
If this shit keeps up, I won't even pirate it anymore.
Imagine how shit a thing has to be when it isn't even worth getting for FREE.
Kevin Murphy
The first time they cast a Canadian, the Canadian wins the whole season, and it wasn't even a close win, it was an absolute blowout.
Ryder Hughes
>Jonathan looked like an idiot taking it personally.
they only showed you the part they wanted you to see. that tribal could have went on for hours and jonathan probably had a lot of good points. did you notice she was hugging and holding onto him by the end?
Easton Wood
You can't actually think they'd let crabs in the bucket be talked about on national TV in the wake of George Floyd and Black Lives Matter.
There is no way on earth that it would get publicly discussed that maybe, just maybe, a few bad apples have irreparably ruined the bushel.
Joshua Martin
I don't understand your point but consider that what I talked about was literally discussed on the last season of survivor. If you're even disagreeing with me, that is.
Christopher Johnson
I mean there’s been competent strategy from black people on survivor
If you mean an island full of thugs you could do any race for that. And fuck yes I would watch it, it’d be the most entertaining shit ever.
Jace Watson
If some POC editors wanted to paint Thor as some dumb hillbilly racist, they did a really bad job.
In the same episode where his diary session talks about having to hide his power level because the big guys always get targeted first, he comes up with a plan to flush ONE idol.
Tribal rolls around and not one idol gets flushed but TWO.
And the icing on the cake is the person his closest ally (Lindsey) wanted out (Tori) gets voted off without either of them casting votes. No blood on their hands.
Two flushed idols and a voted out threat with no votes cast.
If the plan was to make this guy look like the second coming of Hitler, it massively backfired.
And now the remaining four are going to tell that story to the rest of the reconstituted tribe and everyone is going to either out Drea's remaining three advantages (and Maryanne's extra vote) and get them targeted for a blindside, or they'll just vote them out to not have to deal with the whining anymore.
Benjamin Evans
97% those two will happen to re-find their idols in the next ep anyway
its not coincidence they have all those advantages
Benjamin Cooper
Yea, that's why I said "looked like" and not "was." I have no clue what he did or didn't do, but considering we've seen him argue a handful of times and he's been awful at it every single time, I doubt he made any noteworthy points.
Nolan Wood
nobody said they were trying to make him look like hitler lmao calm down... they did however manage to make jonathan look like an idiot as the previous poster opined
Elijah Taylor
It is a commonly held belief among non-black people that the worst enemy to the black community as a whole is individual black shitheads who ruin it for everyone else.
For every one Neil DeGrasse Tyson, expert scientist, world renowned gifted mind, there's a million gang banger prison inmate types bringing down the culture.
The "crabs in a bucket" analogy means that in a bucket that is full of crabs, no one single crab can ever climb out of the bucket because all of the other crabs keep yanking down any crab that tries as a means of climbing on top of them to get out themselves. Just one crab after another constantly pulling each other down so that none can make it out. It's the analogy used to explain the socioeconomics of ghettos and gang mentality. Any black that tries to leave the gang or the ghetto is accused of acting white or betraying their race or of not being black enough and the rest of the community conspire to tear that outlier down.
We can all know this, and silently agree to this, but there is no way on this earth a frank, open, honest discussion about this would ever see the light of day on American TV.
Angel Bailey
>>And now the remaining four are going to tell that story to the rest of the reconstituted tribe and everyone is going to either out Drea's remaining three advantages (and Maryanne's extra vote) and get them targeted for a blindside, or they'll just vote them out to not have to deal with the whining anymore.
thats not going to happen because nobody will want to be the one accused of targeting blacks. they both made f3
Juan King
My favourite winner is a POC (Yul Kwon).
No one wants 16 episodes of chimp outs and jungle orgies intermixed with unintelligible ebonics and screeching.
Grayson Price
The lightest skinned contestant gets sucker punched during the first immunity challenge.
Charles Hernandez
There's enough non-male-whiteness to spell out the demise of Drea and Maryanne.
Gay Puerto Rican, bisexual Mexican, asexual virgin Muslim, white woman Lindsey, and any amount of infighting between Drea and Maryanne themselves.
Mike and Jonathan can just sit back and let POC take themselves out and not be accused of anything.
Asher Bailey
This. It's the "whites will only succeed if they stop caring about blacks" in a .
Parker Peterson
ANY depiction whatsoever of black players doing very typical survivor tasks will be labelled racist because it puts them back in the jungle and makes them look like unevolved spearchuckers.
Sebastian Hernandez
FACT: Johnathan is the only straight white male left on Survivor 42.
Ayden Sanchez
>vote them out to not have to deal with the whining anymore. this is what 100% of people with common sense would do
Andrew Garcia
Lindsey, Jonathan and Mike can make final three by just getting out of the way.
Hai and Romeo despise each other. So let those two make the rest of the tribe pick a side.
Omar will always be a meddler who can easily be exposed by literally anyone, thus making him a target.
Maryanne and Drea can either try for an all girls secret alliance or a dark skin alliance, but never have the numbers one way or the other, and any attempt to further that goal will only irritate whoever is left because at this point everyone has their own mind made up about the final three.
As long as the 3 non-POC vote together consistently and aren't fucked sideways by an abundance of twists or advantages, the best way to avoid the shit when shit hits the fan is to step to the side of the fan. Let the POC take out the POC.
Christian Perry
will there ever be another season where the minorities dont cry about being minorities?
Christopher Anderson
Maybe after the civil war.
Jaxon Johnson
Old generation media is going the way of the Roman Empire. Soon it will fall to pieces. You could say it has already happened, and the move to internet media is the empire dividing and collapsing.
Luke Garcia
Maryanne and Drea remind me of Audrey Middleton, the first transgender player in Big Brother 17.
On the very first day during the player introduction segment when they're all grouped around the coffee table and couches in the living room and get the champagne and get to meet each other Audrey stands up in front of everyone and with absolute "YASS QUEEN SLAY" attitude declares that they are the very first trans contestant and that they're gonna inspire all the trans and be a beacon for everyone like them so they can live their best life and yadda yadda yadda.
It was made very clear that the intent going in was to have this life changing experience of affirmation and acceptance and love and celebrity and support for being so brave and inspiring.
But the problems started basically the next day. Weaseling into an all girls alliance, and then talking shit about Da'Vonne behind her back in front of other witnesses to a house meeting being called and being outed as a shit disturber.
And to quote the fandom wiki:
"During Week 4, after learning that she was going on the block, Audrey had a colossal meltdown. She disappeared into the Diary Room for hours, walked around the house with a blanket over her head, and violated the food and shower restrictions while being a Have-Not. It earned her a penalty vote on eviction night. She was evicted in a 10 to 1 vote, placing 14th overall."
Once it became clear that the trans celebration was over and the realization that bad strategic players play bad games and have bad experiences, Audrey just hid and moped and hid and moped and broke rules and lashed out at people until eviction.
Drea and Maryanne act the same way, but for black issues/people/representation.
William Perry
An all minorities only cast. If CBS wanted to branch out for a few seasons, they could do an all male cast, an all female cast, an all LGB+ cast, an all black cast, etc.
Logan Perez
WE WUZ HUNGER GAMES INCOMING
Dominic Richardson
I'd watch the FUCK out of an all woman's season.
Leo Williams
eh, she had a bigger meltdown than most people facing certain eviction but she is hardly the only player to isolate and mope many straight white players have done the same
get help lol
Jonathan Taylor
also, she had a legit reason to feel bad and like a failure. she was literally a first and did have higher goals
drea and maryanne are at the end of a long list of black players to not only play but win survivor. they have nothing to prove except to make asses of themselves
Ayden Allen

Alexander Anderson
It’d be a repeat of that season with Kim where one Queen bitch takes control initially and the bees fall in line. She would literally outline to peoples faces, yeah the vote order is you then you then you then you and they all smile and agree lol
Henry Bennett
The bigger point here was just how vast the difference was between how it started vs how it went. It was just so in your face and vain and shallow and superficial and yay me yay me I'm so awesome BECAUSE I'M TRANS to nobody likes me everybody hates me I'm gonna kill myself BECAUSE I'M TRANS.
The issue was made to be about being trans, and not about being a bad player.
If Drea does poorly, she'll say she was punished for being black or because of cast and crew racism. If she does well, she'll say it's because she's omg yas queen slay, and have absolutely nothing to do with having four advantages, a large majority alliance, and the racial guilt of non-blacks working in her favour.
Nolan Rogers
Survivor was already at the kino peak when Tony won the second time. Glad never watch it again.
Julian Hall
But this time a BLACK woman will call the shots.
Just a point of idle curiosity but what do you suppose is the majority opinion of all the other races about black people in general, completely outside of white people/culture/spaces?
When black people go to China, India, Arabia, South America, etc, and are treated poorly, its not because of white racists - so what's the deal?
Ethan Stewart
im still not seeing the trans comparisons but yeah sure stay obsessed
Jose Collins
>When they can't blame bad strategy on racism everything is white supremacy
James Martinez
Audrey's successes and failures were measured by being trans.
Drea's successes and failures are being measured by her being black.
Neither of them have been honest about their critics pointing out that they are bad players is because they're bad players and has nothing to do with being trans or black. They just handwave away all criticism as transphobia or racism instead of doing the work to be better players.
Connor Wood
k
Carter Morgan
drea seemed pretty composed until this last episode
Easton Campbell
Once the mask comes off though, you can't put it back on. The others know now.
