Nacho's monologue served to exonerate Gus and puts most of the blame on himself in a way that believable. In fact, by taking the blame for the poisoning and cursing Gus for intervening, it made Gus look more like an ally to the Sals.

The problem here is that he should know that he makes it more likely that his dad will be in danger. Like he could be reasonably sure Gus wouldn't go after him after Mike's assurances, but now they're actively going to have to protect him and get him a new identity, something that he wasn't on board with doing even when his son asked.
