you can really see this when you compare how netflix made seasons of a show vs the original ones. designated survivor for example, show got cancelled after season 2 but netflix picked it up for a third. it's so drastically different and completely changes direction, quality and tone. the budget was slashed, episodes much much shorter. half of the actors gone too

They were too successful at making streaming popular and mainstream and now other companies have got involved.

The market is currently oversaturated but most of the other streaming services have huge companies behind them and can afford take the losses. This was always going to be a problem for Netflix and they prepared relatively well, however its still going to be tough for them until other streaming services shut down.

I remember once upon a time that people here looked upon Netflix as the bastion of quality television programming. House of Cards, Beast of No Nation, Arrested Development revival, not to mention the other shows the platform used to host like The Office. Netflix seems to have some semblance of promise to beat out HBO at its own game. Suddenly it went off the rails somehow. I dunno who or what started it but at some point, its like people were unanimous on not seeing Netlfix as clear cut quality and the reputation never seem to recover even though they produced hits like Stranger Things or Squid Game now.
