Best Harry Potter Film

that would be prisoner of azkaban
I love this poster
No. It was too dark in terms of the sake of it, (book was still fantastical) and Harry getting the cool broom at the credits was the beginning of the end for how the movies would rape the order of events in the books.
Answer me faggot u r wrong
Yup. And since we all know that, here come the contrarians
I just like Snape
>contrarians
Chamber of Secrets is the only potter movie with an A+ cinemascore. Prisoner of Askaban is the lowest grossing potter movie.
Deathly Hallows Part 2 is the Highest Grossing and highest rated.
Prisoner of Askaban being the best an opinion pushed by Reddit.
I would go for the first or second movie. Warm colors and good pacing, the third became very cold looking and the fourth movie appeared to be filmed in a closet. Didn’t watch anything after the fourth movie.
Based
Based but wrong
agreed. the bus scene goes hard and i like the dark, looming paranoia of Voldemort throughout the film. i sorta hate the rest of the movies though. IMO harry potter is a cool concept just very very poorly executed. wish they kept the aesthetics, made actual sense with the spells and got rid of the cringe.
> Prisoner of Askaban being the best an opinion pushed by Reddit.
you make it sound like harry potter isn’t one of, if not the most reddit movie franchise of all time.
test
>eats illogically
When I first saw it, it was jarring how unfitting the direction was, after The Columbus movies.
I agree.
Am I the only one who likes goblet of fire? Its the only one i can bring myself to watch most of the time
I'd say it's objectively the best but not my personal favorite.
>I'd say it's objectively the best but not my personal favorite.
Im not over analyzing it or anything but it just seems the most cool
My working theory is that it is generally Americans that prefer the first and second movies as they have that warm, comfy, slightly cheesy undertone, that remind them of Speilberg and disney. I mean they're not awful but the third and fourth are far better.
There's some cool stuff about it, but overall it butches the book's story
>butches the book's story
Dont all movies do that?
Deh
Yeah, but the degree varies.
I surprised it's hated, I thought it was one of the more epic ones.
The Philosopher's (Sorcerer's) Stone is my favourite. It's the comfiest and most soulful IMO.
The direction just doesn't suit Harry Potter, after Columbus's departure.
If you remember the promotional material before the movies came out, Harry Potter was presented to be a rich and warm, kinda cheesy, magical Disney-lite children's series.
Agreed. Columbus got the mood of the series perfect (based on the franchise's media that existed before the movies).
I hoped she could have been relevant in Fantastic Beasts, but alas...
Normie take but respectable. CoS unironically is the best one, mixing the fantastical elements of the early films with some dark stuff that makes it unique. Not to mention it’s a big departure from the other films in its story (and ends up being pretty important later on).
I would challenge this claim. I think most people worldwide would prefer the first two
It's comfy but dropped the corniness of the 1st.
T-thanks!
.
1=2>3>4>power gap>5=6=7(2)>power gap>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>(1)
I'm inclined to agree, the atmosphere was top tier and went to complete shit after that movie.
It’s long hair kino. The films after this started getting Harry’s hair wrong. Yeah
I watched all the Harry Potter movies for the first time a few months ago (at the behest of a friend who loved them as a kid), I liked most of them but felt that Azkaban was clearly the standout film. It's obviously the best one. I like the arc from 6, 7, and 8, but Azkaban is clearly the best one. I don't know if Reddit agrees but I wouldn't be surprised because it's very obvious
>CoS unironically is the best one
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Incomprehensible, but if I'm reading it right and you're being honest, you've got a based take. Here's my ordering
3=7>1>5>>>>>
>stop with the robes and long hair in 5+
Yeah, no thanks
>you make it sound like harry potter isn’t one of, if not the most reddit movie franchise of all time.
Based on subreddits that would be LOTR or Raimi Spider-Man
I rewatched them all recently and I agree. Order of the Phoenix was much better than I remembered as well. 4 felt rushed and 6-7 were just boring. 1 and 2 are comfy but they seem to happen at walking speed. Funny because I remmeber 1 and 2 were my favorites as a kid
Was Dean Thomas even black? I don't recall it from the books.
i like chamber of secrets because i vividly remember being at school the day that 9/11 happened (when i was slightly older than harry) and the entire film somehow perfectly captures that mood
>the entire film somehow perfectly captures that mood
Literally how?
>Although there is no particular description in the UK editions of the book, in the US edition it is mentioned that he(Dean Thomas) is a black Londoner.
I agree, though I think 2's comfy feel is hindered by it's badly explained plot, it's totally inferior to the first film. And I liked 6 a lot, knowing it was the calm before the storm and appreciating how much humor the script had. I agree with everything else you mentioned.
on the day itself, all the kids could see the sincere, unmistakable dread and panic on the faces of the faculty, plus their reluctance to disclose exactly what was going on to the students. for like a year after 9/11 there was this miasma of terrified hypervigilance, as if anyone without a hall pass would be taken hostage by jihadis
>Although there is no particular description in the UK editions of the book, in the US edition it is mentioned that he(Dean Thomas) is a black Londoner.
Are publishers even allowed to include their own headcanon into official releases?
Goodness gracious
I think basically all we know about Dean thomas is
>single mom
>supports West Ham
So yeah basically a nigger confirmed
LOL
So there is no mention about his race at all in the books.
Good cinematography in HBP
Malfoy had some good development and was torn.
A shame they ruined Warwick Davis' character's dialogue.
You're making me late... something along those lines.
His choir was supposed to sync up with the death of Dumbledor
>Order of the Phoenix was much better than i remembered
Yeah, Deh really hyped up the movie.
But it's the one where you get an actual magical spell fight at the end.
fpbp everything else is reddit
How is everything else reddit when reddit favorite Harry Potter movie is Prisoner of Azkaban
If you ignore the whole Harry Potter thing, this movie is a pretty decent whodunnit/mystery. It has great atmosphere.
i like slughorn :)
Am I the only one who found the books to be pretty hit or miss? Like half the books have giant sections where nothing happens. I remember being bored to tears with a good chunk of Order of the Phoenix.
You must read very little if you find these books boring. I'm sure you wouldn't survive through anything Tolkien's.
