Picard season 2 has been a huge letdown though. It started off with promise but quickly turned into boring filler with zero story progression and bafflingly stupid plot choices. It's also disjointed as fuck, and memo to SirPatStew: Absolutely nobody cares about John Luck Pickard's parents.

I don't think it was insulting. Picard's mom was clearly suffering from an extreme case of bipolar disorder and was refusing treatment plus his dad was a luddite who didn't know what to do except lock her up when she was manic.
I don't think it was disrespectful giving the character's circumstances. Most folks who say stuff l ike that are young people that want everything to be represented in an ideal state, where a bipolar person gets good treatment and lives a mostly normal life but life is not like that sometimes.

If the launch is a success then everything happens as normal in the timeline. The Borg get mostly exterminated in the end and the Federation is the most powerful force in the universe.

If the launch is a failure 2024 Soong becomes humanity's savior and Picard becomes Super Hitler in the future and exterminates the Borg completely.

Except now Rafi let Borgati go to assimilate the entire universe (with love so the Borg are good now) with a 400 year head start. We can assume that the Borgati race is going to evolve over time to become the Q race, which will save the Q Continuum which was fucked up after the jump backwards in time.
