if you could live inside a film which one would you pick?

Going from high school dropout to one of the most successful filmmakers of all time is honestly pretty based, especially given how his work still manages to be more literate than most of his Ivy League contemporaries

If you think Quick Tarantula is a hack then I'll hack off your balls.

the post-apocalypse world from the end of End of Evangelion. Seems chill with no one around and a pretty midnight sky littered with dead robo-humanoid abominations. Peak soul.

Based

oh it shows Quentin

I think it's pretty cool that he owns a theater to show the public movies he likes

Disgusting.

aaaaa i get it
also checked

I'm studying to be a film director. When people ask me if i go to the movies i tell them 'no, I go to film school'

>nooooooo you can’t just be an autodidact and develop such an intense passion for your chosen area of study that you become outstanding in your field you need to go into thousands of dollars of debt to be taught general common sense knowledge that can be found in books for free by some hack overeducated postgrad nooooooooo it’s not faiiiiiir

That explains why the morons would use 70mm film for a movie shot almost entirely indoors on a one room set.

What do you guys think of the film "Dumb and Dumber"?

>When people ask if I went to cooking/flying/medical/music school...
>No, I went to restaurants, airports, hospitals, concerts...
Insecure brainlet logic. And I say that as someone who generally enjoys his movies and shares his affliction

I didn't go to architect school.
I went to house.

The difference is that the best way to create art is to consume as much of it as you can with an anlytical mindset. Did Virgil rip off Homer? Did Dante rip off Virgil? Art, much like philosophy, is created by building off the work of others and then adding your own creative spirit into it.

Okay, and?
You can still learn technique and networking in school. It's not required, but to dismiss it offhand because you didn't go is a dumb take.

It makes sense nowadays. You have every movie and resource on making movies at your fingertips. Editing software can run on any computer. DSLRs are cheap and plentiful and anything made in the past 7-10 years can shoot good footage.

W-which affliction?

films are gay as hell ngl

When people ask me if I went to architecture school I tell them, 'no, I went to buildings'.

When people ask me if I went to culinary school I tell them 'no, I went to restaurants'.

He has an IQ of 160. How does he even find fulfilment from movies. I have an IQ of like 110 and I cant even find good stuff to watch.

>I didn't go to the gym
>I went to beefcake mags

He managed to retain the child in him that was enamored with those movies. And yes, you need some of that even if you're watching the most "serious" art film in the world.
Without suspension of disbelief, cinema becomes pointless because it's primary quality is to be visual illusion.

It makes sense if your not a sperg. Best way to become a master is through experience.

Then why do his movies stink of farts?

Bad media is useful because it teaches you what not to do.

>want to be a master at sex
>watch tons of porn and masturbate

>Best way to become a master is through experience.
could you post some of your work, master?

Here is another man who went to film and not school. Why didnt he learn from Tarantula? Why is he so cringe instead?

Au contraire.
>i didnt go to school, i went to sex

The best way to master is through practice, and the best practice starts with knowing the fundamentals of what you're trying to create. Rather than learn the basics of storytelling from the beginning, he copied what he saw in other movies, and though he's gotten plenty of practice over the years, a lot of his movies still seem to have a facade to them, like he's not constructing them organically from the ground up, but imitating styles he's seen.

based actual do-er

Leaving aside this user's fantastic suggestion:
It's also possible that you don't like films that much. I don't either. I'm crazy about music instead and can easily enjoy music that I know is subpar.

Nichijou

Coen brothers are the genius of a generation.

Holy based

You don't need school to be a master. Fundamentals sure but school is bullshit. Want to be a doctor or lawyer sure. Want to master something else your more than capable of doing it yourself. Fuck when you graduate and get a job they retrain you anyways. Thats why college is a sinking ship.

>Want to master something else your more than capable of doing it yourself.
based retard telling people to spend 4x as much time on 1/2 as much understanding.

Exactly he may have copied shit but thats what every director or musician does for that matter. He still has his own style. You know what your getting in a Tarentino movie. Violence and a lot of it. Its better that the copypasta capeshit cranked out every year.

i love movies like you wouldn't believe, but theres so much shit out there. Im basically at the stage where ive seen them all, seen every single idea there is. So when someone recommends I watch the latest piece of shit I cant get into most of it.

>seen every single idea there is
itd be better to say "ive seen every idea theyll make"

i think im gonna kill myself soon actually.

why not today man?

There is no difference between his films and capeshit besides the MPAA rating. Sam Jackson is even in both.

Okay what are your favorite films then? Who's your director? Lynch? Kek

i watched Tarantino talk about TWBB and was honestly impressed.

>Who's your director?
william burns

I like Nolan. May be hack at times but stays with practical effects, puts passion into most his films by coming up with intriquing ideas and his younger films really show that.

my blood is on your hands dude. Im gonna repeat that. My blood is on your hands dude.

you dont even know my name lol

Probably John Carpenter or Michael Gondry if I am to be honest with myself.

There are only 7 stories. He may watch then with an eye to what he'd do or studying it and not as entertainment. Also, don't kill yourself, my dude

>There are only 7 stories
idiot

I love early Carpenter.

Hey look it’s the most overrated director of all time.

this but only to choke asuka to death

He's a fucking hack but I'm pretty sure the goal there was to try and establish some of the presence one has when watching a stage play

If you don't go to film school and learn acceptable pacing structures your films will have terrible pacing

When people ask me if I went to medical school, I tell them “No, I did a bunch of stolen prescription drugs”

Blacked

film school is necessary for the NPCs, not the true auteur artists like Quentin. You need to know how to record sound and set up a dolly and shit.
