IRISHMAN

is this film worth 3 hours and a half
heard mixed reviews about it

no it's shit

Don’t listen to the retarded zoomers and Disney shills on this board please. It’s an epic masterpiece and probably the last movie of its kind.

the duality of a man

Taxi Driver > After Hours > Goodfellas > Casino >> Shutter Island >> Raging Bull > The Irishman

Irishman is boring wog shit, don't waste your time. Guys like think they're smart for sitting through it yet won't go near any films with subtitles.

Or maybe you have to watch it to find out

Scorsese hasn’t made a good movie in the 21st century. Sorry Leo but it’s true

It's shit. It's a pathetic knockoff of his own Goodfellas. That scene where that guy gets mad at him Norton is so fucking cringe and shittily acted don't get me started on deniro

>deniro
isnt him a bit overrated by /tv standard

It has a handful of memorable scenes and isn't his worst film. Do with that what you will.

>Shutter Island >> Raging Bull
fucking kek

It's ok. Defiantly not Scorsese's best. The special effects are laughable and Al Pacino gives a shitty performance. But it dropped giant truth bombs about the Kennedy presidency.

It's very good and the message is relatable if you're someone who's older.

If you want to watch a movie where a 80 year old man pretends to be 21... Knock yourself out.

It's Scorsese trying to ape his old movies and directing style while using the new toys available in Hollywood.
There are parts in the movie where you just lose interest because the scenes linger so fucking long trying to be Godfatheresque.
If you're a fan of the gangster movie tropes in Goodfellas, Casino, etc they're all here just not done as well as the firsts time.

its pretty good although the Hoffa stuff was boring to me cause I saw the Nicholson film and had my full of the story there

Shutter Island is one of his best films and that user underrated it

Its garbage.. cant get passsed the old guy movment on whats supposed to be a young man. Like Mando during the action parts.. all those geriatric movements.

Shutter Island has a shit ending but it at least builds atmosphere and is interesting for the first hour. Raging Bull is full of all of Scorsese's worst cliches which would go on to make his mob epics a chore to watch.

I’ve seen more subtitled films than you have guaranteed, peckerwood. I am smart and you’re a dope.

Pesci is phenomenal. Everyone else, Scorsese included, is reaching for a dream long forgotten.

Raging Bull is a masterpiece you morons

yeah, the third act it's the best actually

Only because you've been psyoped into thinking as much. It's a boring soap opera for women.
>Thank god that toxic woman beating teenage fucker is behind bars! 10/10 - you

it was good and it was ruined 10 years before seeing it

Much better than Goodfellas and Casino. Not as good as some of his non mob stuff though like After Hours;

Yes, it's a good movie. It would've been excellent if Scorsese didn't cast these old farts for the roles of significantly younger men. Pesci is alright. Also, somebody post the grocery store scene. You know the one.

The Irishman is the Spider-Man No Way Home of Scorsese/mobster flicks.

A band reunion playing their greatest hits for an audience they already knows likes it. It's one for the fans more than anything.

Deniro and pacino suck badly. Based Pesci steals the show as always

>Much better than Goodfellas

Hard disagree, I think Pacino was the only one not phoning it in.

It's flawed but good.
The first act is the weakest part of the movie, you cannot believe for a second that DeNiro is supposed to be in his mid thirties, the CGI de-aging is not impressive and his slow body movement gives it away, especially on that stupid grocery store scene.
It then starts to get good when Hoffa and the mafia gain protagonism, with the final act of the movie being very strong and probably the most memorable part. Pesci's acting on the grape juice scene near the end is fucking insane.
Overall, it's worth it

Bringing Out the Dead > any non-wop movie Scorsese has done

I miss this little nibba like you wouldnt believe

The murderous intent his eyes are showing through most of the movie was great.

>i picked us... over him... fuck'em...... fuck' em.....

He was just playing himself as always. Nicholson was a better Hoffa

Pacino has been playing the same character since Dog Day Afternoon.

I thought the midwestern mob stuff was more interesting than the east coast or west coast stuff.
There were plenty of other things I liked about it though. The banquet scene was amazing, the tension is thick and there are numerous juxtapositions. I also think the third act is arguably some of the best work Scorsese has ever done.

>Defiantly
How do people think "definitely" and then type this.

I thought Pesci and Pacino were both fantastic. De Niro was the only one who phoned it in hard, which is disappointing since his is the titular character.

I had a friend who watched the whole movie and didn't realize that Hoffa was played by Pacino. He thought I was joking when I told him.

You fuckin cock sucking wop

If you're up for watching a film that is in essence 'just 3 straight hours of scorsese style scenes', it delivers. The story is fine, nothing special (IMO just like his other films, an overall good idea but not a lot happens overall). They did some cool stuff with ageing/de-ageing but overplayed their hand with stuff like the scene where de niro beats up the shopkeeper but just flails geriatrically and fails to sell the scene

Watch enola holmes instead. Very very very cute and charming. A much better way to spend your time on Netflix.

couldnt they use a young man for the scene and add deniros face instead
I dont get it

That might have worked better for that scene, yeah.

The kid who played the main character was great, definitely an actor on the up and up

Does anyone on this board even enjoy cinema? How can someone shit on Raging Bull in good faith? Garbage zoomer opinions

I thought it was amazing and a true epic. I was surprised that my dad didn't like it though since we often share taste in film.

On a somewhat related note, my dad showed me the movie Reds years ago and was excited to show it to me because he liked it a lot when he was younger. He was disappointed with it on rewatch and I remember thinking it was good and not great. I rewatched it recently and now I think its one of the better epics I have ever seen. It made me wonder if epics have to be watched in certain conditions or in certain moods. It helps that I think Reds is more poignant than ever though and the Irishman appeals to my sensibilities in a variety of ways.

The only mistake of this movie was that they didn't call young actors to play the young versions of the main characters

I finally finished it last week. The CGI is distracting but otherwise it’s ok. Liked the OH N- fedora tip.

It’s formulaic, through the motions entertainment. No way a masterpiece you idiot

Scorsese is obsessed with using the same actors. It's probably his biggest flaw. How many times do we need to see De Niro and DiCaprio? They're even gonna be in his next film together.

>Shutter Island > Raging Bull
My god kill yourself

>Scorsese is obsessed with using the same actors
I mean, you become sucesfull and rich as fuck using one technique, why would you repair something that is not broken
I can understand that, but it's kinda a brainlet move t b h f a m

that error has been around way longer than smartphones
t. oldfag

Fuck no. Pacino was amazing in this, best part of the movie.

I think they didnt because they jump back in time a lot in this and Scorsese wanted to use Deniro.

No. not really. Scorsememe took an interesting story, paired it with great actors and made a 3h long snoozefest with godawful cgi. fucking up like this really should have gotten him an academy award for biggest has-been-living-off-former-glory
