I unironically believe that A24 is the worst thing to happen to not just art but movies in general in the last 100 years.

If you know anything about the arts you know the dangers of midwit shit and A24 is the chieftain of midwit shit.

Number 15, Burger King Foot Lettuce

The last thing you want on your Burger King burger is someone's foot fungus, but as it turns out, that might be what you get. A 4channer uploaded a photo anonymously to the site showcasing his feet in a plastic bin of lettuce, with the statement: "This is the lettuce you eat at Burger King." Admittedly, he had shoes on but, that's even worse. The post went live at 11:38PM on July 16 and a mere 20 minutes later, the Burger King in question was alerted to the rogue employee. at least, I hope he's rogue. How did it happen? Well, the BK employee hadn't removed the Exif data from the uploaded photo, which suggested the culprit was somewhere in Mayfield Heights, Ohio. This was at 11:47. 3 minutes later, at 11:50, the Burger King branch address was posted, with wishes of happy unemployment. 5 minutes later, the news station was contacted by another 4channer. And 3 minutes later, at 11:58, a link was posted. Bk's "Tell Us About US" online form. The foot photo otherwise known as Exhibit A, was attached. Cleveland Scene Magazine contacted the BK in question the next day. When questioned, the breakfast shift manager said, "Oh, I know who that is. He's getting fired." Mystery, Solved, by Yea Forums, now we can all go back to eating our fast food in peace.

Oh piss off

People are brand whores now. A24 is no different than Marvel capeshit in that they tap into an existing audience that follows their releases. The film, the actual product, is secondary to the brand. A24 is for high school and college students that are “too cool” for Marvel.

>The film, the actual product, is secondary to the brand. A24 is for high school and college students that are “too cool” for Marvel.
Actually a lot of people I know who are into A24 also get unabashedly excited about capeshit too. These people are just the dregs.

Yes, Yea Forums Kinoseurs only get excited about dumbshit movies from the 80's. It is known.

When has cinema not being midwit? Just think about how most of cinema's biggest "masterpieces" ara adaptation of midwit novels. How many real artist filmmakers are there? Sure, you have Ceylan, Tarkovsky, Tarr and a few others, but they are a tiny minority and no one gives a fuck about them anyway.

For me it's silent Kino.

they've released some decent films, i still really love uncut gems, but it has gotten to the point where you could slap their logo on any dumb bullshit and people would jerk it off regardless

There have always been a few "high-brow" directors making boring, self-congratulatory "art" movies, and there have always been oceans of silly dumb-fun movies. Always.
The fart-huffers of Yea Forums cherry-pick across entire decades for a handful of movies that "prove" that movie-making is ruined now, while pretending to be engrossed fans of old Japanese grunting films.

>Sure, you have Ceylan, Tarkovsky, Tarr and a few others
You're one of those underdeveloped freaks who think "slow cinema" is the pinnacle of the medium. Ceylan as the finest film has to offer, Jesus. You're another midwit hardly different from A24 sois. The Vvitch is "slow cinema" worship like you like it.

Real talk. Novels are a higher form of art. Films are just more accessible to the masses.

Name your top 3 films and top 3 novels

Movies from their very origins were conceived as nothing more than a way to bring exciting visual experiences to the masses, even if it was just a simple onrushing B&W locomotive or an Indian shoot-out.
Only demented fart-huffers and their fanboys think the medium is some sacred art form.
Lucas, Spielberg, Based Cameron and Kevin Feige are using the medium exactly as intended.

I'm neither of those posters, I'm Movies: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, Raiders of the Lost Ark, and Aliens
Books: Lord of Light, Hitch-hikers Guide to the Galaxy Trilogy, Foundation.

worse than capeshit and social media?

capeshit and shit-tier, unnecessary remakes are worse.

This is a ridiculous opinion, ohpee. Of all the utterly horrible trends in the arts these days, you think A24 is the worst thing to happen?

Have they released some pseudo-intellectual garbage and hipster trash? Of course. But A24 is literally the only studio that consistently releases interesting films. Take away all the films they've produced, and I'd probably go so far as to say cinema is dead.

I don't really think it's their fault. Do they take heavy creative oversight over their projects? I thought at least half the films on their label were produced independently, they just buy distribution rights. I think there's legitimately just a serious lack of good content out there right now, A24 seems like they're at least trying to seek out interesting filmmakers.

I don't exactly know what the fuck has happened to cinema in the last ~15 years but I don't think you can blame it on them. Find me the great young American filmmakers who are doing more interesting stuff and getting turned away by production houses like A24. The good shit just isn't out there right now

Let me take a wild guess and say this seething is about the Men trailer and the stalker in the film hits too close to home for Yea Forums

Wouldn't bet against it.

You're retarded I'd you complain about A24 but don't get mad at Disney. I don't know what it is about A24 movies that just filters people.

Why would anyone get mad about Disney? What promise have they broken? They set out to make extremely popular crowd-pleasing hero adventures and succeeded more consistently than any other studio.
Is this more infantile trauma over the Blue Milk? Star Wars was made for fucking children.

They do have a certain brand of mediocre half-assed bullshit that gets weirdly overrated by critics. But at the same time, if you look at the best films of the last couple years, a pretty decent chunk of them were on the A24 label

Every Kubrick besides Lolita is an improvement on the source material.

Yea Forums tries hard to only appreciate a narrow band of unpopular, relatively unsuccessful movies that are either black and white or feature obnoxious color filtration. It's just how the 'tism rolls.

Hi midwits

I'm not saying 2001 the novel is well-explained, but the movie is just a bunch of weird music with some NASA style shit taking a long time to happen. Then a 70's lightshow and a room and a baby.

>665 trips of evil
Fuck off Disney cock sucker.

I mean a lot of those films were really good. But I feel like some people just go in overhyped like A24 is supposed to change the game or something.

This

David Lean was another director who excelled at adapting novels.

Hello retard. How the meds treatin' ya?

A24 is a bunch of jews wanting to push globalist propaganda.

But they're quite harmless since nobody watches their shit.

>yfw slowburn midwit shit

Attached: 300px-A24_Slow-Burn_Soyjak.png (300x344, 52.61K)

Yes, I'm sure that's why a Viking revenge film is their most expensive production to date.

Does your tard wrangler know you're on Yea Forums?

And Lolita is a borderline unparalleled masterpiece. The point is that most books he adapted were mid, and that goes for most film adaptations that are acclaimed -- Jaws, The Godfather, etc. Can you say the same for literature? Has there ever been a novelization of an original film that was considered a masterpiece? No, only mediocre books become masterful films

Can hardly argue with an intellectual who has a Soijack for every situation, can I?

cool but you're wrong

Euphoria is A24 and it's the biggest show

nvm A24 didn't produce it. Assumed they did since they produced Eggers other films.

You're still retarded though.

Novelizations of films are purely attempts to cash in on fanboys, they are never considered "literature". Movies look to novels for inspiration, novelizations are just a cheap attempt to re-sell the exact same story in another media.

You can't argue at all because you're wrong

>Ceylan as the finest film has to offer
NTA, but Ceylan is one of the three best script writers working today with Zvyagintsev and Farhadi, who may steal ideas, but is still a brilliant writer.

I can't take you seriously without a corresponding Soijack, sorry.

I'll never forget what these disgusting creatures did to Sir Gawain and The Green Knight.

You just have to look in the mirror

Irrelevant question, plus you’re gay and I fucked your mom.

>and it's the biggest show
LOL, what the fuck are you talking about ?

It's not even big by cable standards, it draws ~250,000 viewers per episode, which is mediocre.

Loveless was an incredible film.

>i just learned a new word on Yea Forums

Weak, and still being stingy with your 'jack collection. Why are you being like this:?

i see a24 i download

Just be thankful they didn't cast a nog, dude.

It's not just the casting. They raped the whole story.

I don't exactly follow them as a studio but I don't think I've seen a bad movie released by them

Yea Forums doesn't pay for movies; it steals them.
Then wonders why theaters don't feature the types of films they like to watch without paying for.

Attached: You Must Be New Here.jpg (311x311, 82.04K)

Hi midwit

I liked it. Haven't seen anything else from A24 though.

>I don't exactly follow them as a studio but I don't think I've seen a good movie released by them
ftfy

Because you are low-T and never read the original story.

Damn right

Attached: Running-Man.gif (400x214, 1.93M)

I actually think it's the opposite. At least a24 is putting out some interesting movies

Can't deny if that was your experience

Are you some sort of paid anti-Eggers shill? I have seen you posted this in at least 5 other threads in the past 24 hours. Get a life

I haven't. Still enjoyed the movie though.

Interesting compared to the average flick in theaters nowadays maybe. Doesn't hold a candle to good classic or independent cinema.

You are completely wrong in every single way. If anything, we need more publishers like A24 who are willing to take risks in the search for kino movies. Imagine if we had a handful of A24-like publishers, then we'd basically have a couple of kino movies coming out every single month.

Instead, we have all these mega project movies that cost several hundred million dollars to produce and market are being made with 100% analytics that make sure that the movies are as safe as possible so they can get their return on investments. The problem is that they hardly ever produce actual kino.

>moral relativism
kek
I blame your low testosterone levels.

I didn't see it. Never will.

I'm not an A24 hater, but that director represents everything I don't like about the studio. He makes glossy, stylish films that try hard to be authentic and spiritual, but they're mostly just vapid, hipster garbage.

Basically this. They have some decent films sometimes but nothing spectacular. It's preferable to capeshit and reboots though so that's why people treat it as a high-brow and sophisticated company

You will never be a woman.

Where are the morals involved in this exchange?

True.
Do you believe in objective reality?

Yes but the Yea Forums Yea Forums autist audience simply will not pay the bills for them.

More or less, what does that have to do with what movies two random people saw, what they thought of them, how they're generally perceived and what's the relation to moral relativism?

The average Yea Forums autist isn't interested in good cinema so why would they pay for it? You can see from most responses here they're representative of the average Marvel soi

Attached: projection.png (977x733, 543.34K)

>More or less
Could cut if off right there then but I'll indulge you. I claim they've only made bad movies because the narratives these movies promote are deeply untruthful and immoral. So you either admit to them making bad movies and you liking them because you are a bad person or you admit to adhering to made up "morals" that are the result of you being unable to control your horny.

it's just Miramax's replacement. since Harvey went down, there was a market vacancy.
A24 makes the type of movies that video clubs would not have space to have on display, but you could still ask for a dossier and pick from there.

Uhhhhh alright bud

Yea Forums is six people who feebly pretend they only watch "classic" films on Director's Lists, and 600 people who relentless argue about movies targeting children and casuals.

>in the search for kino movies.
Too bad they haven't found a single one yet.
