Over reliance on digital effects, I'd guess, along with the lack of hands on involvement from real directors in favor of yes-men moonlighting for an easy paycheck in the Disney schlock machine.

They are now being made by people who rely solely on it, and have no 'real world' experience. That is, practical fags at least know a 'feel' of an explosion and could at least translate it well in CGI. Now we have generations of movie makers who don't know the 'feel' of an explosion or an impossible jump or how far a person would be flung after being hit by X.
