I don't really get the rabid hate for the dumb remake.
It's just a glorified technical project that Jon Favreau directed with the express purpose of authentically mimicking African wildlife and landscapes.
The lion-king plot is mostly just a convenient guaranteed money-making backdrop for the advancements in fastidiously detailed CGI models and lighting tech that were probably achieved during the making of it.

You could make the point that's a gigantic waste creative resources, passion, and time, which could have gone into developing something original based on documentary-like recreations of wildlife, but Disney shit out tons of gay CGI films either way. You're spoilt for choice really.

It's not like the original incarnation of the Lion King story is somehow desecrated by this version unless you're supremely autistic enough to care about the cultural legacy of an animated film produced mostly for children.

Then again, I'm aware that the Lion King has somewhat of a degenerate fanbase, given that I once saw an image of Simba in utero being fed an ungodly stream of waste from a group of lions, including his father, that were shitting down his all-too blissful mother's orifices.
