I heard you crying loud
I heard you crying loud
for me, it’s insomniac
>zoomers think people actually liked pop punk
>ALL THE WAAAAYYY ACROSS TOWWN
Everybody loved pop punk.
Dookie was a hugely successful, and I distinctly remember seeing kids bring the cd to school in 94
oh shit you are OLD old. im only 32 i remember people shitting on pop punk by the time i was 12 back in 02. it may just be where im from though. we had an actual punk scene here and werent some flyover shithole that listened to pop punk and wore wallet chains.
Yeah by '02 pop punk was dead and filled with faggy shit like Good Charlotte, in the mid 90s it was still huge.
I dunno American Idiot came out in 2004 and was massively successful
More "alt rock" for the time but yeah it had like 3 or 4 huge hits in US
Bands were making money, it was still very popular but the writing was on the wall it was a played out and oversaturated genre.
I wouldn’t call American Idiot pop punk.
We did.
>massively successful
so the fuck what? stop trying to defend your shit taste with "massively successful" as if most people arent just braindead consumers
>only 32
kek
post "real" punk, peepaw
Fair points I suppose, Green Day has definitely spent the rest of their career chasing American Idiot's success
>ion even gon cap bruh pop punk is some fire. put on a greenday type beat and lets vibe.
I heard you crying loud
Chanting “BLM!” across town …
>shieeettt wheres that new machine gun kelly track frfr???! dis nigga got me into dat pop punk sounds hype af
youtube.com
youtube.com
eat my shit, bitch
Fuck off Simulation bot.
You think youre clever now dont you?
>im in love with an emo girl is the mood. that shit bussin. *does gay ass dance*
>you been surfin for that someone isn't me out on the couch
finna get banned soon bruhs ion even gon cap
Go to an American wedding for a late millennial. The DJ will, at minimum, play Sugar We're Goin Down, and everyone will still know the words
answer honestly: where are you from?
I was at this one.
Flyover
well that explains a lot. people outside of the midwest werent at into pop punk and emo music. there were some really lame ass kids here and there who did but not enough for your statement to ring true.
I’m 31 from Cali and people my age still like pop punk from back in the day
stop making shit up, loser.
where are you from?
American Idiot is an amazing album, please either go listen to it and fucking neck yourself afterwards.
I'm pushing 30 and I still love green day, and I always will
youtube.com
oooooh shit im getting trolled on epic style. you got me.
greenday is a band for trannies.
Why won’t you answer Your flyover town wasn’t representative of the music scene at the time
which episode of malcolm was this?
I don't hear you listening, user:
youtube.com
Or necking yourself, for that matter.
its a good album, but its generic pop rock and wasn't anywhere as fresh or influential like dookie
Their only good song
im from washington dc
the reason i know faggots in the midwest loved pop punk and emo is because i had family there and would visit and thats what the kids were like there when i hung out with my cousins
you faggots seriously dont understand how outside of the flyover states that kind of music was looked down on and made fun of by people who listened to metal and punk. every emo kid with an asymmetrical haircut where i grew up in dc ended up being an actual gay fag homosexual. im sorry you had to grow up with shitty music to fit in but where im from we made fun of faggots who liked greenday and blink 182 and all other types of emo bands like mcr and fob
I definitely agree, but it's still a fucking great album and everything I've heard from Greenday ever since has been trash.
>RAZOR BLADES THEY RIP RIGHT THROUGH ME
>TEARS OF BLOOD COLD AND SAD
>PICK MY UP NOW I NEED YOU SO BAD
>YOU GOT ME SO DOWN DOWN DOWN DOWN
this yall music
you faggots seriously dont understand how outside of the flyover states that kind of music was looked down on and made fun of by people who listened to metal and punk.
You’re from DC, I’m from LA you’re literally a flyover to me lmao. Pop-punk was huge in Cali back in the 90’s, your flyover cope won’t change that.
made fun of by people who listened to metal and punk.
Oh no I was made fun of by the loser kids who sat by themselves at lunch? Dang what a shame. Metal and punk kids were absolute losers back in the day and nobody cares what you thought of other people lol
>no u
epic troll
they had 10 years between them that sucked too
i liked insomniac but it hardly did well (and was also 30 minutes)
nimrod and warning were pretty trash
Punk pop was MASSIVE
>Greenday
>Avril Lavigne
>Blink
>Falloutboy
>Offspring
>MCR
All hugely successful with white suburbanites worldwide, the problem is that the taste makers didn't like it at a time when normal people actually cared what taste makers thought, so mainstream culture considered the genre adolescent and uncool despite massive mainstream sales and popularity with both teens and young adults.
I'll defend Longview
>that kind of music was looked down on and made fun of by people who listened to metal and punk
Well that explains a lot. Half the reason your scenes exist is so you can call other people poseurs
>popularity with both teens and young adults.
from the midwest. which are the stupidest people on the planet. those bands were heavily shilled on mtv and by corporate entities to sell you mountain dew. please just stop doing these mental gymnastics trying to defend such a shit era of music.
offspring were awesome before they started rapping
keep coping flyover
>Half the reason your scenes exist is so you can call other people poseurs
we only called "poseurs" posers
honestly the scene here in dc was pretty friendly but we still made fun of people for laughs if they were trying too hard. its those type of kids some of you midwestern folks would call "Scene kids" and "emo kids". they were too cringe to ignore.
wouldn't Rage fit in here too?
>he’s still going
I’m from LA. Those bands were popular here. Your small city of DC isn’t representative of the tastes at the time
im just saying it how it is. im pretty sure you are the one upset by what im saying and trying to cope with "epic trolls"
dookie > 1039 > kerplunk > insomniac >>> power gap >>>> american idiot >>> turds >>> everything else
>honestly the scene here in dc
You and all 10 people? The only good thing the DC scene has put out was 90’s screamo.
this guy thinks hes trolling but hes just being a retarded fag proving my point that pop punk is for retarded faggots.
>im just saying it how it is
That’s not how it was though. Maybe your small city scene was like that but in a real city pop-punk was popular
>he doesn't rate Nimrod or Warning
tell me how I know u r hella gay
You claimed to like metal you have no right to call anyone retarded
>pic related is your average metal fan
@167065176
lmao shut the fuck up i get it dude you are a squirmy faggot
>from the midwest.
American idiot was in the American top 10 for a year. All those other artists had multiple platinum and multiple number 1 or 2 singles.
Rage and offspring's rapping period is nu-metal, which like pop punk, was a genre that was VERY popular with white suburbanites, but disliked by the taste makers and thus carried a "ew cringe *sips latte*" stink on it until it dropped out of mainstream popularity.
Rage is pretty much the only nu-metal band that managed to get any sort of taste maker respect and that was only because of their very overt political leanings that matched well the eternally commie profession of being a pre-internet influencer/music critic.
i was around since dookie, nimrod is literally when i dropped em bro
i only give american idiot an honorable mention out of respect
>every major pop punk band sold double digit millions of records in their prime
>guys I swear nobody liked this shit
Just because you and your buddies thought it was gay doesn't mean it wasn't popular. Disco was super gay and also mocked by metalheads and punks, doesn't mean it wasn't popular.
American Idiot > Dookie > Warning > 1,039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours > 21st Century Breakdown > Nimrod > Insomniac > Kerplunk > Uno > Dos > Tre > Revolution Radio > Father of All Motherfuckers
>the taste makers
all those bands were huge here in canada too
pull your head out of your local ass
>turn on radio in 2006
>ALL THE
Based insomniac enjoyer
I was not a fan of punk-pop but it was absolutely popular in the '90s and '00s. The average person likes average things and bands like Green Day gave them that fix.
People who were there for it regard this as the worst era of music since disco. I don't understand the motivation behind this strange revisionism.
I literally was 17 when dookie came out bro
I didn't regard them as bad at the time
I regarded Nirvana as bad..
>mass quoting
I’m not reading anything you wrote
That was what they were called before web 2.0 created influencers.
By far their best song. That bassline intro is kino.
It's still cringe as shit. Who cares what is considered popular or authentic or mainstream or underground, if the wiggly air makes you happy then listen to it idiot
I'm pushing 30
faggot
its good but it was the most palletable poppy song on the album..
it did its job tho it convinced millions of kids to listen to dookie
