The new one. No question about it.

The old one.
Its kino. Just remember that its from the 80s so its allowed to be weird and imperfect.

forgot tosay i prefer older movies
but the new one has better ratings. on imdb the new one is an 8 while the old a 6

i'll watch both for sure, but for now i can only do one and i cant decide

watch the theatrical release of the old one.

bear in mind that the book has lots of nonsensical worldbuilding which fans are obessed with and think is key to making a film version work. David Lynch did the best film version of the story possible by cutting a lot of it, which made his film anathema to bookautists. hence the shorter edits are better no matter what anyone says.

Old Dune makes no sense if you didn't read the book but I thought it was better than new Dune, which feels like generic capeshit with some elements from the book.

no

Lynch's Dune is amazing. Nothing like it. The new one is grey sludge.

I liked the sci-fi channel miniseries.

>Old Dune makes no sense if you didn't read the book
How? I saw the movie first and it made perfect sense to me, but then again Im someone who doesnt need to have everything explained.

Def the old one. The new one is a woke polish turd.

You must be joking

That's true of pretty much every adaptation. There's just too much content to put in a single release, necessitating changes to (or removal of) plot points.
If you have read the book(s), there are differences on several points but it doesn't impact the overall plot. There's also the 2000 Dune miniseries (and 2003 Children of Dune) mentioned.

Don't waste time and just watch:

If you're a sci fi fan you'll like new dune if not it'll be too weird and boring

Old one has Patrick Stewart carrying a Pug into a desert gun battle. It's no contest, old one is far better and has a million times more SOUL. Also the Baron is wayyyy better and more vile.

weird to think that lynch would direct a movie like this.. not your typical lynch stuff

is that the old or new?

It's based on the old 1984 one. Its contains extra footage that had been used on the 1992 TV version, giving an extra 40 minutes, and it reorganises some scenes for better pacing. I'd say it's the ultimate version, regarding Lynch's work.

the old one is complete fucking dogshit

downloaded. looks like im watching the old one tonight :D

Enjoy the kino, man. You won't regret it.

Read the book(s) retard

Can't speak for the old one but the new one is boring, overly drab, too long and is like 30% playing the same annoying out of context vision over and over again. Also it's the done to death chosen one story.

New one

Old one for kino. New one for polished but bland broad appeal to the lowest common movie viewer.

old one
it's gigakino fren

This, the direction of the movie is just puzzling, most of the performances are pretty good and serious, but baron harkonenn for example in the old movie is a bizarre and seemingly satirical take on a supposedly serious character, atleast i think he's supposed to be serious and menancing, haven't read the book yet

>reddit faggot word salad
just go away

Does anyone else hear the Lynch version's soundtrack when reading the book?

neither, read the book

don't read the book or see the film, just play the board game

Don't do neither of these. Play the game.

Fucking Based choice my dude

don't see the film, read the book, play the board game or the flash game, just listen to the soundtrack from the miniseries

the ONLY one, there's no new ones
it's like a fever dream in movie form, might be best watched after 20+ hours awake

> thinking-machine hands typed these posts

*gives you the proper swirly you deserve*

The stories are pretty much the same, except the new one is only the first half of the story. The old one has some really cool scenes in it that makes it worth watching. The harkonnen scenes in the old one are sweet.

Man, what was Lynch even thinking when he made this scene?

but the new one has better ratings. on imdb the new one is an 8 while the old a 6

i'll watch both for sure, but for now i can only do one and i cant decide. usually in this situation the old would have better ratings so i'd go with that

>can i just watch a fucking movie? (OP)
and wtf is this? i didnt quote myself or w/e lol
dune shills have hacked my computer!

holy fuck what kind of glitch is htis?
its copy pasying what i said in my op or something
im too tire dfor this shit
dune shills, pls go troll the marvel movies instead

>this is the only non-bot poster left on the site and he's nearly incomprehensible
it's the only way to bypass the censor filters, similar to walking without rhythm to avoid attracting the worms.

The 1984 movie by David Lynch bears only superficial resemblance to the book, but has beautiful cinematography and effects, and great performances all around, as well as a fantastic soundtrack and compelling narrative. A great movie, but a poor Dune adaptation. Don't go into it expecting Star Wars.

The 2000 Sci-Fi channel miniseries is a very faithful adaptation of the novel, with more subtle actors. However, as can be expected from an original TV series, it's got cheap special effects (early 2000s CGI) and costumes, with small sets. The best adaptation of Dune. Broadly similar to Babylon 5 or Stargate series in quality.

The 2021 movie DUNC is JUNK. Every complaint made against David Lynch's is even worse there, complete with woke SJW agenda bullshit shoved in. And worse, it's not even enjoyable to watch, it's just boring endless CGI fest Marvel chinkshit nonsense. This shit makes James Cameron's Avatar look good.

you're welcome.

Daily reminder that the entire saga builds to Aquadude's thousandth plus generation clone ruling the galaxy as the true Kwisatz Haderach

I loved the worms, the outfits, the stilsuits, the spice harvesters and carryalls, the fremen and the desert cinematography in this one best. It didn't have quite the best ornithopters, space ships, buildings or saudarkar. And the sound weapons were kind silly. Nu-Dune though isn't anywhere near as interesting.

>the sound weapons were kind silly
Actually they were the coolest part, even made sense to be a secret tech developed on Caladan, the Ocean planet.

It surprised me how close the new one follows the old in general pacing. Just less internal dialogue.

both

it's good we'll never get there

About time somebody gets it.

Based. It's a fucking good time.
