I'm on s8 of SG1, how's Atlantis? Worth watching?

Just as good as SG1, perhaps a little worse.

Definitely worth watching. Some of the best characters in the Stargate "universe" are in Atlantis, but I will admit the overall quality of the writing is just a hair lower. It's not totally a guilty pleasure, but it strays towards that a bit closer than SG-1.

It forgoes any potential to be unique and tries to be SG-1 but is never as cool or interesting because its setting is less versatile. Still probably worth a watch.

SGA died because it was hemmoraghing viewers. Then the producers got given an ultimatum to either keep going on a sinking boat or take a stab at another series that could fill the BSG hole in the syfy lineup. If you look at it with a non-biased lens its obvious that shortlived Golden era of the SciFi channel was ruined by the network execs throwing everything at the fucking wall to see what stuck in a desperate bid to expand the brand.

Nah senpai. We were there. It had Millions of viewers. SGA had millions, upwards of 5 million viewers. SG1 had lost a lot of viewers and even they had Millions of viewers. Scifi admitted they dropped the ball by not renewing SG1 and instead spent that money on dyke series pain killer Jane and the damn awful cheese fest that was flash Gordon. I double dare you to go and watch the Hawk men episode.

But SGA had their fans and Mozilla screeched reee when the test audiences hated his degenerate Duke filth.

SGU had less than half SGA audiences and by season end they had a fifth.

If SGA ever had 5 million viewers it was when it was during SciFridays when it played with SG1 and BSG. By the end it was dipping below 1million. The writing was on the wall since they had to bring in Carter in S4.

Doing my first watch through of all of stargate now. SGA is definitely worth watching although it’s not as good as SG1. I just finished the first season of SGU, and it’s so fucking depressing. It’s good but there is basically no joy or humor in it at any point.
