The ORIGINAL version of Gone in 60 Seconds. (Not the Nic Cage version)
Every stunt is real, all of it filmed without permits. Downside is the acting sucks, but once the car starts racing it goes nonstop balls to the wall.

This movie is pretty much an hour long car chase
Did someone really think their Honda Element was worth bringing to a car meet up lol

Shhhhh. There’s no way it’s shit, even if you don’t like the movie it’s at least competent. Kevin Spacey was great in it too.

Cars
Car fags are cringe. It's literally just whoever spends more money on their car is deemed the best.
>NOOOOOOO IT’S UPBEAT AND HAS LICENSED MUSIC IN IT NOOOOOO
>YOU ARENT ALLOWED TO LIKE THAT ONE PLEASE STOP NOOOOO
Lexus is the best care. Prove me wrong. You cant.

That's like 90% of hobbies though
Vanishing Point
Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry
not him but cars are incredibly expensive so comparing it to other hobbies is kind of redundant.
im in to aquariums and an incredibly expensive and huge aquarium would be maybe 10k tops? Which would be classed as an absurd amount of money to spend on an aquarium.
You cant even get a fast car for 10k these days. If you want a modern luxury brand car you're literally talking 60-100k. Car prices are insane. You cant get a decent used sports car (Even an old one) for less than 20-30k and insurance is expensive. Cars are a huge money sink and mainly just a status indicator for rich people.

I would rather have a merc (if I wanted a luxury car that is).
Found the queer
>I would rather have a merc (if I wanted a luxury car that is).
maybe 30 years ago. But mercs these days are not what they used to be. I agree that a lot of mercs are more aesthetic (especially the older ones) but their build quality, reliability etc has taken a nosedive in the last few years. Lexus has stayed relatively consistent since the LS400 was released.
A merc may be more gaudy on the inside and have bigger engines but your wallet will pay for it as you have to take the thing to the shop every 10k miles.
That's because modern mercs and beemers and such are made for leasing where you rent it for 2 or 3 years then move on to a newer model
Doesn't get much more "car movie" than that. Also, I have it on Blu Ray, looks good in HD
Contrarian posters are far more cringe. They have nothing of value to add, and only use Strawman arguments of extreme views.
kek
Its because of a lot of reasons. Toyota Lexus focus on tight tolerances, high quality engine parts and longevity. Mercedes focus on tricking the consumer in to thinking their 50k car is a true luxury vehicle by wowing them with the interior but do it at the expense of everything else. BMW focus on cramming as much engineering in to a 2.5 or 3L engine to squeeze every drop of power out of it at the expense of longevity and maintenance.
Then you have stuff like computer simulation allowing car manufacturers to get parts of the car to last JUST long enough to fall out of warranty and then break in order to save costs and keep within their razor thin margins.
Then as you state, the idea of owning a car is becoming a thing of the past. People have this idea that you should just lease a car forever like they do with mobiles because everyone wants a luxury car as a status symbol and cannot afford one, hence the leasing. This has pushed general car prices up as people are willing to pay for cars that were previously unaffordable. And this culture makes companies not want to prioritize longevity because it isnt as much of a factor any more. They want to make the car with the fanciest interior and most bhp in the price range so people can dick measure against each other by owning a bmw or merc despite like 40% of the population having one.
I loved my pos miata. They’re expensive as fuck here in southern california though.

Yeah, but wat you gonna do with your aquarium? Just looking at the fish? This nigga out here looking at fish.
fish are based and add way more to my life than my car.
>bro im driving!
So is everybody else, who gives a shit? A car is just an unessecary expense. If i could get rid of mine and still function in society i'd do it. Cars are only nessecary because the world is now built around the use of them. If i worked at walking distance, had a shop at walking distance a car would be useless.
Literally all the "luxury" cars are gay as massive aids. (almost all) Ugly as sin and just expensive for the sake of it.
Rich people should get creative and do cool stuff with their money instead of lining the pockets of even richer people buying that ugly crap.
>mercs are ugly
shut up ricer
fish are qay nerd
cars own and will forever be cool
Does a WRX count as a ricer? Genuinely curious, into it from rallying, not the jap angle.
But anyway more so a Classic American muscle kinda guy overall.
All the "luxury" cars you can identify easy and see 'oh they are luxury designed' because they have all this similar shape to them, but its just not a good shape.
If they had a mazda badge or a toyota badge on them nobody would think anything of them looks wise. Just some whatever sedan.

>Does a WRX count as a ricer?

No, you have to "rice it" to make it rice.
>'oh they are luxury designed' because they have all this similar shape to them
>If they had a mazda badge or a toyota badge on them nobody would think anything of them looks wise.
That's not what makes them luxury cars it's the overall package (like the ride, boot space, performance, etc.) of being good at everything and making your life easier that makes them luxury cars.
Hmm a car made of rice seems like it wouldn't be structurally sound. I know the Japs use 'sticky rice', but it can't be that sticky right?
I mean the WRX is done up with WRX type upgrades. But nothing like what you'd see on a supra or what have you. Guess i've just seen some people have a pretty broad description for 'ricer'.
>That's not what makes them luxury cars it's the overall package (like the ride, boot space, performance, etc.) of being good at everything and making your life easier that makes them luxury cars.
Yeah but they are still ugly and that was my main point.
Look at pic related. its like the boot has down syndrome, and there are too many like that. Mercs also have all basically that same exact front bumper/lights design. Its not exactly bad or anything, but it doesn't look good imo and the bottom black 'cutout' makes allm of them look like some sort of grumpy/sad face.
>Look at pic related.
all I see is a simple design and a boot that flows the the cars line
>Mercs also have all basically that same exact front bumper/lights design.
that's how you know that it's a merc (most cars that don't do that look off)
>picrel
is rice for me
Boot to me drops off all droopily. Makes a weird too rounded overall back shape of boot around to bumper.
Yeah i definitely do get the idea of the front (and other aesthetic choices) being to keep a brand image. Which only works because people have been conditioned to think expensive means good and have associated that with the look of the car. But it's not actually "this car looks good" its "this car looks like what i know an expensive car looks like so that makes me feel good".
Front doesn't look bad, not good to me either, its definitely the boot most often with mercs that makes them look ugly.
And yeah thats about what i always thought for ricer. Think i've just heard too many excessively broad opinions/insults around it.
I think if the boot looked any different it would look off just because of that line.
Miata is an objectively great car

Seconded. A masterclass in directing on a shoestring budget.
