The show was managed by a guy called jnt who was huge into cross dressing and it resulted in things like costumes going missing and prop department resources being wasted. Stuff like that had minor impacts on the lore of the show and nerds kept snowballing until these things turned into fucking stupid major huge lore

I don't understand The Doctor Falls. The entire story and 12th Doctor personality suggests that he doesn't want to regenerate because he'd actually prefer to die completely and is too tired to continue living a life of constant strife and loss. He spends S8-10 having a death wish and actually does it at one point killing himself via electrocution. But in the end of this episode he says he doesn't want to change his face and wants to stay where he is. That came out of nowhere, he definitely didn't seem like the type to be afraid of his life ending, in fact most of the era up to that point suggests that he's looking for a way to rest, to die well. Am I misreading this? Is it just shit writing to justify having another christmas special because Chibnall didn't want to do it?

I'm genuinely confused now. I always though of him as black and the media has always talked about him as if he were black but according to wikipedia his family are from Trinidad and Tabago which is a majority south Asian ethnically?

But that's not what he says in the episode. He says he can't keep being on somebody else, wherever he is now he wants to stay there so he snuffs out the regeneration magic. But it makes no sense for the 12th, it's like if Tennant suddenly deciding that he wants to regenerate.

I love the direction of this episode. It's so fitting the final scene of rose isnt crying alone but its crying in her mothers embrace. Like when you really think about it this poor womans gone through hell and back so it'd be equally emotional for her that at that moment the shit storm of fuckery that was her life has now come to close, she's been reunited with her husband and has a second shot at raising a child with him. Its just too good. I cant wait for the slice of life elements in doctor who to reappear with rtd taking over. Moffat just couldnt make anything realistic

Moffat tried with Pond Life and the whole Clara mother (and then the Clara father and family in Time of The Doctor) but he was always changing stuff around (the father in Time of The Doctor was different from the early series Clara)

Watch the next episode if you haven't. Refusing to regenerate won't result in him staying in his current form, it will result in him dying for real when the process fails. He wants that to happen.

i love the RTD era but that ending with rose always felt really weird

The whole Rose-10 romance always felt weird to me
Especially after watching Classic

series 8 and 10 did ok with juggling mundane and high risking settlings. Its just all the more jarring continuity wise as clara is a different character with capaldi's doctor, her family is never mentioned or seen again despite being in time of the doctor, she never studied or showed interest in teaching, shes alot more brash and rude. I really love series 8 and not many people do but i almost separate the character into two different iterations. You could make the point rose has a similar problem with 9 or 10 but the character still has the same personality, she just has more of a liking to the doctor now

Moffat could make somewhat realistic, he failed to make it stick. The balance of normal life and TARDIS life was good in S5 and S7A but otherwise he was too obsessed with TARDIS travel to bother with the family oriented comfort stuff.
