An attitude like that is congruent with a more free market place where ownership is real, tax rape isn't there, most people have choice in medicine and education because they aren't public, regulations don't make being a business owner a nightmare (unless a huge corp), etc. Housing market being fucked creates even less incentive. You need to participate in a society with rewards/incentives for a get up and go attitude.
