Her team is claiming that it's a defamation case pertaining to the oped. Thus they argue that the oped didn't defame Depp and any problems he had came about before the publication of the piece.
In doing this, they strongly imply that Heard's actions and statements before the oped did indeed hurt Depp's career and image. But they don't explicitly admit that.
But since that's their defence, an honest argument would only focus on that. They however are not. They have submitted hundreds of pieces of evidence from that period and keep objecting to testimony related to matters from before that period of time, seemingly unrelated to the oped altogether.
That they oppose the testimony that they do and present the evidence that they have should suffice as an admittance that the case doesn't solely pertain to the oped and that things said/done before that are relevant. Pretending otherwise comes off as extremely dishonest.
