Why isn't Legion talked about more often?
Genuinely one of the most entertaining shows I've watched in a while.
Why isn't Legion talked about more often?
Other urls found in this thread:
its kino, i watched both seasons but s1 was superior
idk if they made a 3rd
They did.
Different from the first season, but nonetheless good.
Also, they double down on the craziness.
>Luv Noah Hawley
>Luv X-men
>Luv psychological/schizo kino
>Legion was annoying and boring
simple as
based, i will give it a watch
season 2 was too long and i fell off and never finished it
the only good marvel thing
It was probably peak Paul Bettany
It's style over substance
Because of the S2 finale and entire 3rd season.
Daredevil and Legion, are the peak Marvel and nothing will ever come as close.
capeshit has no substance so the only way to make it good is to go all in on style.
Moon Knight is basically a carbon copy of this show.
Moon Knight (and to a lesser degree Loki) tried going for this feel and failed hard, based Noah dabbing on mcutards
That's a tactic that's been really noticeable these days.
They reel in audiences with promises of a different show but end sticking to the old action. adventure, comedy structure.
Marvel is becoming dull with each passing day.
It's like every other MCU series.
I guess the whole"brutal" marketing scheme they were going for was false.
S1 was good, S2 was le whacky but still pretty good, S3 was disappointing
what would you do if while you were fucking your girlfriend she suddenly transformed into her underage daughter?
S3 was different but still fun.
Plus it gave us one of the best Charles Xavier's.
Since, i'm gonna go to prison anyways, might as well finish.
Good show with a cute plump blonde.
Don't forget femboy Ringo
It's one of my favorite shows, but nobody ever wants to talk about it with me cuz I'm a comic book nerd and I'll just start sperging out about power levels and how David's omega-level powers weren't utilized, explained or displayed properly. It's like if you wrote a Superman story and then never allowed him to use heat vision or fly.
It was pretty sweet that they brought in those time assholes (can't remember their name, so that's what they are called now) in the last season, though. I was afraid they were going to do a standard time travel story that would end up making no sense, filled with plotholes. Instead they just made it so that the whole show never happened. Brilliant.
>Marvel is becoming dull
it has been so since 2018
Depends on the season of Daredevil
Director's Cut
Really would have liked to seen the split personality thing from the comics where every personality has it's own power thing, done in the show
I feel like they were slowly building towards it, as evidenced by the fact that he kept talking to different versions of himself throughout the story, but for some reason they gave up on the idea. Maybe they thought that it would've been confusing for the audiences, but they could've easily done what Doom Patrol does with Crazy Jane and had the different personalities be slightly different looking versions of David.
Part of me wishes we got more seasons to see him in all his comic accurate glory, but at the same time the ending to show was perfect and got closure the characters deserved.
You know what, I'd settle for ANY comic book storyline being adapted as a TV-show. Doesn't even have to a good one, Spider-man Clone Saga with Ben Reilly as main character, that shitty Marvel crossover-event Onslaught from back when most of you weren't even born yet, X-Men Dark Phoenix (not the movie version), anything! But all Marvel keeps doing is taking the shittiest parts of actually good stories, like Planet Hulk and bolting them into their shitty, formulaic stories. It's incredibly frustrating.
But yeah, comic book accurate version of David Haller is at the top my wishlist, for sure.
Because the last 2 seasons ruined the series and became an experimental failure. First 2 seasons were bretty goo'.
the style is the substance
John Hamm's intros were pretty cool
(me)
Looks like there were only 3 seasons. I guess the first half of season 2 was ok. Pretty much when the mustache fembot and the Japanese wicker basket man things entered and they did that musical episode with that lame band is when I started checking out.
I really wish Inifinity War was like the original Gauntlet comics, I wanted to see Thanos become Eternity and smack Galactus around.
>David's omega-level powers weren't utilized, explained or displayed properly
he's omnipotent and schizophrenic and his powers are manifesting everything in his subconscious in real time. if he takes active control over them, he kills everyone in the world and traps syd in a bubble reality he creates where she can't be hurt, that will hurt him if he tries to read her mind.
the sequence where he's homeless/catatonic/rich is him trying to remake a reality where his sister isn't killed and realizing he wants syd more. hell, the entire show is probably him trying to create a reality where syd doesn't hate him.
Yup, that's up there on my list too. My two biggest wishes would be
>The original Secret Wars (keep the goofy tone)
>Deadpool story that actually depicts the stupid love triangle between Lady Death, Thanos and Deadpool
I mean, what is the point of doing all these comic book adaptations, if they all end up being essentially the same, and the creators aren't allowed to have fun with the stupid stories?
Love the fuck out of this show.
>what is the point of doing all these comic book adaptations, if they all end up being essentially the same
is so they can call their expenses assets and then leverage their value for free money. read: their only stream of revenue since the internet went mainstream.
Completely agree.
I always thought that the entire show was just his dream, or something. It was never real.
It certainly did. Viserys Targaryen did an amazing job.
Is this still technically Admiral Fukiyama?
>he's omnipotent and schizophrenic and his powers are manifesting everything in his subconscious in real time
Yes, I understand that. And all the Astral plane stuff was great, as was the reality altering. What I was specifically talking about was how the musical fight scenes felt like a cop-out. Instead of getting some Dr. Strange-level (the movie) fight scenes on the Astral plane, we got poorly animated drawings and dance routines.
The best we got (as far as I'm concerned) were the first season parts where Shadow King used David's powers to turn people into dust.
Never finished season 3, but I loved watching the first 2 seasons with Yea Forums.
I think pumping out a Doctor Strange tier fight would have been way beyond their budget.
Plus, i really fuckin loved the opening to the that episode.
I actually kind of think we did. I personally believe that substantial part of David's cult were all other personalities, such as the time travel chick. I also believe that most of the show takes place in an elaborate Astral construct of David's and many of the other telepaths or telepath-adjacent characters were actually guys like Charles, Emma, Wyngarde, etc. In essence, I think in addition to David apportioning his powers out among alt personalities, there were also some actual people whose minds hot pulled into David's psyche.
>Instead of getting some Dr. Strange-level (the movie) fight scenes on the Astral plane, we got poorly animated drawings and dance routines.
how should a fight between two omnipotent entities look?
>I think pumping out a Doctor Strange tier fight would have been way beyond their budget.
That's true. And as far as creative solutions go, what they did wasn't bad. It's certainly better than the endless fistfights that most superhero movies and shows usually go for.
This show was just about the only time telepath fights looked cool.
It's really really good, there just not a lot to talk about when it this far up its own ass, You just sit back and enjoy the random bullshit.
Mm, I'll have to disagree. Even if that was the case, it would've been so poorly communicated to the audience, that if a comic book nerd like me doesn't pick up on it, neither would anyone else. Plus, it would just complicate the story, because if you start going that route, then you'll end up with everything being David's dream like somebody mentioned, which nullifies all the stakes in the story.
Well, I'd imagine they would simply try to overwhelm each other. Either through manifesting enough physical force to capture the other and then sealing away their powers, or through deception like Shadow King usually does. I'm sure everyone has their own view on it, but the only thing that really matters is that it looks visually cool to the audience and communicates what's actually happening between the characters properly. Easier said than done, but I would appreciate it if somebody actually tried.
I never saw it as being up its own ass. I saw it as visuals for the sake of them.
This was me. Half the time, I was asking myself, "What the fuck is happening," and the tough, cigar-chomping man who lives in my head would answer, "Just keep watching, faggot. It's kino."
How do you guys feel when you realize that all Marvel capeshit will come under disney and we won't get to see anymore unique shows and movies with actual soul?
Even the capes at Netflix will suffer the disneification fate.
Well, for starters, there's no difference between David's dreams and David's realities, and even if it *is* mostly taking place in his own mind, there are still other real people in there with him. Remember Division 3's crazy airship and how they were trying to David's "influence?" I think that was them actually trying to escape his Astral construct, even if they didn't even realize that's really what they'd be doing.
It breaks my heart.
Maybe some actual fist along with the animated fight so they don't awkwardly stand there staring at each other.
Or you those mental weapons they used at the end of S3
That shit was so cool.
I don't know. Like I said, that just sounds like a hat on a hat. It's difficult enough to differentiate between David's mind, the real world, the Astral plane and all of it's pocket dimensions as it is. Like, sure, he is omnipotent (with caveats), but he's hardly the only omega-level mutant in that world and everything being under his influence just makes the story way too complicated for no real payoff, if that makes sense.
Especially since they made a big deal about Syd being sucked into the Astral plane when she tried to take over David's body.
David teaming up with Charles and then being convinced not to kill the Shadow King was a great finale.
S1 was great, except for the last episode. I recently remembered they made more and tried to watch S2, but didn't make it past episode 2. It felt like the show disappeared up it own ass between seasons. S2 was meaningless gibberish.
I'm was so happy with how they portrayed Charles empathetic side.
