I could recommend 12 kingdoms, but its an incredibly slow burn story filled to the brim with terms and jargon. And it was written by a woman and it shows in being a bit sentimental and character driven rather than action focused.

But the setting is a pretty unique one as far as an isekai fantasy goes, and everything is thoughtfully fleshed out into a world with its own strange rules, customs etc.

As someone who's watched gurren lagann, you definitely explained it in the worst way possible.
Yes there's robots, but the fights are dynamic and over the top with very touching character moments with said great characters. The main message of the anime is to never give up and do the impossible no matter what.

I never read the manga so I can't comment on if it stays kino but I enjoyed Vinland Saga.
