Which should I watch if I've never this kino before?
Which is the best version?
Other urls found in this thread:
Redux.
Final Cut
even coppola said it's the best version.
Theatrical.
Theatrical.
I am about to order the 6disc 4k collectors anniversary edition
you matherfuck vagine son of bich basterd
Final Cut no doubt
>Trusting an old filmmaker's opinion about one of their early films
No.
Theatrical. Final Cut adds a good scene in the middle of the movie and a bad scene that ruins the pacing right before the end. It's not worth it.
Better than any of you faggots opinions
Theatrical always. Director cuts are biggest meme ever. That's because every author is a hack - they are hacks because they fall in love with what they create. That way they won't be able to cut even the most useless, pacing-killing stuff.
skip past the wedding scene.
youre welcome.
The LSD version
Not really. I said theatrical is the best cut so I've already proven at least one of my opinions is worthwhile.
Between Theatrical and Redux, definitely the former. Does the Final Cut have the plantation sequence?
You were absolutely wrong there though.
Original/Theatrical. The pacing doesn't get bogged down with the singers/strippers and the French scenes (even though the French guys were kino).
you should just watch Deer Hunter
The only director's cut that are significantly better are Dark City, Kingdom of Heaven and Das Boot (mini series version). Everything else usually ruins the pacing
>Does the Final Cut have the plantation sequence?
Yes.
Theatrical is my favorite movie
Redux destroys the pacing and turns it into Full Metal Jacket but shittier
Haven't seen Final Cut but it probably sucks
luv me vietnam war movies
'ate wedding movies
>muh pacing
stop samefagging
you wouldn't know good pacing if it punched you in the balls, you're no cinephile.
>muh pacing
Imbeciles
Das Boot is great. I love extended Lord of the Rings, but it's so damn clunky
>one good and famous scene, a bunch of terrible shit scenes, and a wedding scene that takes WAY too fucking long
Yeah no.
>Hearts of darkness
Way better than apocalypse now
I have watch most Vietnam movies and Deer Hunter is by far the worst even though it has a memorable scene.
>Books are better than movies
Just it it now and get it out of your system. Oh, and go back to Yea Forums while you're at it.
+1 for Theatrical. The extra content in the other versions is nice, but it kills the pacing. Go back and watch the added scenes afterward if you want.
Coppola doesn't know what's good (anymore)
Theatrical is best.
Redux and Final cut can be watched later but don't let one of those be your first time viewing
this
>he doesn't get the reference
Kek
I feel sorry for you bro. Community is top kino... for a few seasons.
My first time viewing was Redux and now watching theatrical feels incomplete
Theatrical. Any other answer is a troll.
My first time viewing was Redux and now watching theatrical feels perfect
I like the Deer Hunter but it's not even in the same league. Apocalypse Now is so good, you don't even need to watch the movie, you can just listen to the soundtrack and it's still kino.
I have this issue with LOTR
There's some genuine brainlets who think longer = better
this
Watch the theatrical version first, if it hooks you in enough watch the documentary Hearts of Darkness, and then watch the redux at a later date and then the final cut if you are so inclined. I haven't bothered with that version, Ive settled on the theatrical version after 20 years
>turns it into Full Metal Jacket but shittier
so gigakino?
>longer = better
We call these people 'females'
Decided to watch this right now. The version I have goes for 3 hours.
Theatrical. If you aren't a complete moron you'll enjoy the movie enough to watch the other cuts anyway. But theatrical is the best cut due to pacing and editing.
Books are better than movies though....
Usually
Very few exceptions. And I referenced a documentary/movie
Are you drunk or something?
I saw the theatrical cuts of LOTR on 35mm last year, and I was surprised how tight the pacing was despite the lengthy runtime of each. I usually only watched the extended editions and while a lot of the additions are great, there's also a ton of bloat and scenes that deserved to stay on the cutting room floor.
same, watching redux for the first time was perfect. those extra scenes really added to the movie as a whole whether it was history related or expressing the characters through having sex.
Redux. People who don't like the French colony scene don't understand kino. Normality within insanity is itself a weirdness to be appreciated.
It was hamfisted pseud shit and french accents are annoying
based
lol
theatrical.
pacing.
I'm watching it now I'm at the helicopter beach bit and all I think is the Americans are the most evil bastards in this whole world. It's portrayed in real life that the Americans are heroes but really you guys are worse.
fuck you charlie, learn to surf
what? your mama-san's hair fell out at age 11, your brother was born with 1 arm, and the frogs in the rice patties glow in the dark?
enjoy that residual agent orange, chopsticks nigger
shut your slant eyed mouth and thank buddha your fucking village wasn't napalmed in '68
wat the difference? i dont even know which version i watched.
If you liked it, it was theatrical
If you thought it sucked, it was redux
For some reason, all the torrent copies are Redux, which is a steaming pile of shit
how big of a difference is it really
