The direction is phenomenal in most parts, but there are too many cons that make it hard to hail. Riddler for example was extremely underwhelming which is a big no no for a villain centric film. The film is also way to dense and overlong. Another gripe I have is the dialogue. There isn't one line or exchange that holds much weight long after you see it. The film just doesn't feel very memorable, and wouldn't garner a rewatch from myself personally. While the ambience and direction is solid, Riddler feels like an after thought, so does Alfred, the mobs were excellent and the feel of Gotham's corruption through the police force, but there just too much to care about at once. Again to me its Riddler that was the flop I think. Whatever pretty good for a reboot, the second will be much better I think.

Joker has too much of gravitational standard that he implicitly feels like the peak villain but they could have went with just two face focused crime plot and it woluld still have been ultra kino, the only reason eckhart got overshadowed was becasue the chacter joker and ledgers rendition, but he was absolutely brilliant as two face

Movie really falls apart in the 3rd act
Riddler is really cool at first because of how unhinged he seems. Then later hes LE EPIC ALT RIGHT WHITE MALE INCEL TERRORIST and starts to be a little bitchy faggot. It's such a hard left turn to how he was acting in the rest of the movie. Catwoman's whole plotline is intertwined into the whole movie yet feels like an afterthought most of the time.
The music was terrible, Something in the way did not have to be played twice. Every other song was extremely cringe and never fit the moment aside from ave maria at the orphanage.
The fake suspense moments were fucking awful and way longer than they should have been. nobody thinks batman is going to die in your fucking movie just stop.
The amount emo behavior from batman is just too fucking much honestly. he looks depressed in every scene sulking around and giving people the side eye.
The only thing they got SORT of right was the ambience, penguin and maybe thats all.
the movie cuts a lot of corners to try and tell you more of a really boring story.
riddler's riddles werent even any good and the audience has almost no time to try and solve them for themselves because batman knows the answer or believes he knows the answer in seconds. thats where the suspense could have been. its a massive bore fest.

Good films can be 4 hours long and they feel like 1h. Bad films feel like an eternity of suckage, if theyre 3 hours.

It was bad, but not quite as bad as all the negative press.

I enjoyed some stuff, the new batmobile was great. Penguin was great.

The social justice stuff and forced politics just made it really hard to slog through though. Like the first scene shows a gang of thugs attacking an asian guy on a subway. Of course every single gang member is white except ONE, who has only painted half his face so you know he's black. He's also the only member of the gang who feels mercy for the asian (reversal of reality) so batman spares him. This scene sets tone for rest of movie. Every corrupt cop is white. The only good cop is black. Ever corrupt politician is white. The only good politician is black. Every memeber of the riddlers gang is a white incel. Every single person batman punches in the entire movie is white because they were too scared to even have one non-white villain.

So anyway, depending on your tolerance for that stuff its borderline unwatchable. It's a shame because it did have some good bits.
