It has a certain charm that modern media lacks. The cheesy dialogue and goofy acting is part of the appeal. The show is innocent in a way. There's no pretension or cynicism. No "greater message" to browbeat the audience with. Even the low budget special effects are endearing in their own way. I appreciate a show that knows exactly what it is and runs with it. Sometimes you just wanna enjoy some silly adventures with gods and monsters.
It'd be nice if the people making shows today could stop taking everything so seriously all the time and produce more lighthearted fun.
what is more shit people taking their roles 100% seriously or stupid zoomers doing stupid jokes that take you out of the movie by poking fun of the thing they are meant to fucking adapt?
the lack of profissionalism in today media is horrible >LOL your name is doctor octopus that silly >LOL the name of your organization is GUN thats silly aint i right my fellow reditors
Ian Cox
I like it, but Xena is better

The word you're looking for is "camp". Goofy humor that includes mocking femininity in men and gay stereotypes by doing things like men dressing up as a woman as a joke. The look and feel of Hercules Legendary Journeys is no longer allowed on TV or in movies.
Adrian Brooks
It wasn't bad or anything, but most of the time I'd skip it and only watch Xena.
Julian Wood
Yes but it was always something positive that anyone could relate to. Not... >this is what's wrong with society and these are the "bad" people who are directly analogous to this group/person I don't like. Ya know?
I thought the same thing when I was watching Relic Hunter a couple of days ago. It’s light hearted, vaguely Tomb Raider ish dumb fun, and I loved it. It also wasn’t afraid to have ATTRACTIVE people on the screen.
When I was a kid I had a dream where she tortured me for days and was I think about to kill me, but i woke up. Had to change the sheets, it was such a sticky mess.
Benjamin Cooper
Callisto was such a slut.

>he watches capeshit >he seethes about capeshit ngmi

Fucking wrong.
I recently watched this entire show.
It starts out as a campy corny but somewhat serious fantasy show. Hera murders Hercules wife and children, Ares forces children to fight to the death, it's all pretty great.
But then, it devolved. What started out riding the line between silly and serious eventually has Hercules strutting his stuff shirtless at a fashion show while Right Said Fred's Too Sexy For My Shirt blares in the background.
Know who fucked this show over? Alex Kurtzman. Any Star Trek fans know this name. He murders everything he touches. He turned the show from a real gem into a pile of irredeemable shit.
If you want a show like this but better I suggest Sir Arthur Conan Doyles 'The Lost World'. It has a similar vibe but at least as of Season 2 (as far as I've watched) it hasn't degenerated into complete forehead smacking idiocy.
Dominic Jackson
I miss the actor who played Ares, He was damn good and didn't deserve to go out as he did.
Blake White

Problem is Sorbo and Hurst had serious bro chemistry and stage charisma. Even on the very worst episodes it was still fun seeing them.
Xena used to be a horrible human being that would kill entire villages of women and children without remorse. Now she's seen the light (after getting fucked straight by Hercules) and is trying to wander the land doing good deeds with her trusty lesbian sidekick Gabrielle. The problem is, Xena is depressed and always acts like she got blackout drunk and did something awful the previous night. It's probably an accurate way to portray her character but it's not interesting.
And Gabrielle is just kind of there. Xena has a lot less ups and down than Hercules. Hercules has fantastic episodes and absolute dogshit episodes. Xena doesn't really have dogshit episodes. But it doesn't have truly great episodes either. It's that awful middle of the road.
Watch The Lost World instead.

I’ll admit him not being being a leftist makes him more palatable but I grew up with this show so my opinion of him is high regardless. Same with Chuck Norris.
Thomas Morris
Xena can't be beat. But Hercules and Young Hercules were kino as well.
>Watch The Lost World instead. No thanks you can keep your anglo-wank.
Noah Bell
Hercles and Xena were filmed in New Zealand. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's The Lost World was filmed in Australia. They all have very similar vibes.
Easton Thomas
You posted Lost World.
Austin Bailey
I watched it but I didn't like it that much.
Levi Stewart
>after getting fucked straight by Hercules
ha ha ha good joke i see what you did there
Aaron Rodriguez
If you guys haven’t seen it the guy responsible for Hercules and Xena, Sam Raimi, did a trilogy of Spider-Man movies in the early 2000s starring Toby McGuire. You might like it
Its a shame, it was a great show. Highlander The Series is another piece of turbokino that would never be made today. Can't find this show anywhere and its comfy AF.
