Johnny wins, no matter what. He's probably going to win the trial, but more importantly he's just appealing his case to hollywood as being a total drug addicted spaz (which everyone else in hollywood is too), who's also a really nice guy (which almost nobody in hollywood actually is), and it was the bitch who done did him dirty (which most everyone in hollywood can relate to). It's a trial about just getting his compelling narrative out, more than anything and the outcome of the trial itself is fairly meaningless.

Depp is unlikely to win the lawsuit but he is winning the public opinion and destroying Amber Heard in the process.

All the evidence shows that Amber Heard is the abuser. It seems like the only time Depp hurt her was when he accidentally headbutted her when she was attacking him.
Amber is most likely going to win the lawsuit because she technically didn't defame Depp in the specific article that she is sued about.
If Depp wanted to sue her about all the things she has said and not just one article he would have to sue her in California and he would lose there automatically because people in California are insane.
