I get where you are coming from and I kinda get it. I never really had a problem with violence in film, specially in Kill Bill where the bride is not really "the hero", on the extended intro Uma Thurman even has a monologue about how the bride its just a psycho chick wanting revenge.

I liked Pain and Gain. I never had a problem with violence in film neither, it's just the way that it's perceived by the audience. You watch these movies and the heroes now act like borderline slasher villains and the audience comes out and goes "wow that's a hero that's what a hero does, that's bravery".

I've already seen it, wasn't much of a fan of this live action version and liked the OVA more (although I can appreciate how much effort they put into the effects gags). I'd recommend it if you haven't seen it, it's just like 30 minutes long or something.
