og or tng?
Og or tng?
Neither.
OG, very little filler unlike TNG which even the biggest fans reccomend you start on season 3
original by slim margin
More or less the same show but TNG is slightly better because it felt like they had better mastered storytelling and keeping the rules of their fiction consistent to the point of almost being believable.
>og
n-og
Based and Nogpilled
OG
TOS is better if we factor in the movies. Going by the shows alone, then TNG.
Only the Original It sparked the imagination of millions WORLD WIDE. the others were just ST wanna be fans.
Only TNG has anything near the level of episodes like The Inner Light or Tapestry.
Where would a newfag to everything trek even start
lower decks
the original series into their films. the TOS films are the best there is hands down but the series is needed to really get the characters. Can skip S3 of TOS if you really want.
fpbp
TNG featuring OG characters :^)
TOS
Didn't overstay its welcome, has a much better character dynamic with kirk/spock/mccoy, fun set design that doesn't look like a "luxury" 90s sports car
TNG has a fag actor and a worse version of Spock. TOS all the way.
Galaxy Quest is even better than both
TNG but the TOS movies are fucking comfy kino
>DS9 when they went back in time to the original series
kino
TOS show > movies = TNG
Original Recipe
TOS movies 2 and 3 > TOS > TOS movie 6 > TNG > TOS movies 1, 4, 5
Oh my.
If you don't like poofters in your kino, TOS is not for you.
? Is leonard nimoy gay? I guess but it's not as obvious as Picard
OG without question. TNG has a lot of filler like said.
True, but its peaks are the highest of all Trek.
Seasons 3-5 are gold all the way through and there are some excellent episodes in the others as well.
For me it’s tng
The old show was just too cheesy. I know I know it was great for it’s time or whatever
Just start in TNG, then watch DS9.
>great for ti's time btu too cheesy
but you just described TNG
the gay ass conference room scenes, the boring set design, the creepy skinned data, etc.
Fell in love with TNG, then DS9, then Voyager.
I can't watch the old ones, they're too dated for me.
Seriously, they feel slow and I hate how everything looks like shit.
Like the panels on the consoles on the enterprise are fucking arcade machine buttons with knobs and levers and stuff,
TOS -> TOS films
I love the lighting in the original series, it's so comfy
You will never be a trek fan please leave sci fi at once, ask you father what baseball team he likes and follow that.
/thread
watch a few of the better eps from tos, tng and ds9 to get an idea if you'll like it or not, then pick a series and watch it start to finish. tng, ds9 and voyager lead into each other in that order though
OG Trek is pretty solid just watch out for the episodes where they reuse backlots and costumes from other shows to save money
TNG would be best but only if you start with season 3
DS9 would be best but there's a lot of filler episodes and the same really, it takes awhile to get going, most people who nostalgia it just watched it every week and don't remember
Voyager was mostly shit though I'm sure one or two episodes are ok
There's nothing else after that, don't even try
The real answer is Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan
what's so bad about season 1 and 2? does just nothing happen?
Watch it and find out.
I still haven't watched through TOS. I watched maybe 3 episodes before deciding to forget about it.
OG, TNG and DS9 idort here
Look up the best episodes of TOS and TNG and start there. Then dive in to either. If ur not into old shit (aka a pleb) then dont even bother TOS and go straight to TNG.
The Next Generation is the best of the two. Better characters, better set designs and the writing is just way way better. I feel that TNG was just perfecting itself when it ended too.
faggot
nimoy, shatner, pat stew all come across as really queer to me
Yea that’s right my nigga ds9 all day baby
If you can handle old stuff, 1000% TOS. If no, you are picky... TNG season 3.
But TOS and TNG are both god tier.
>TOS 4
You realize 4 is Voyage Home? the best TOS movie?
Voyager is max comfy but admittedly the weakest. It has many great episodes and has the "So stupid and bad, but must watch".
DS9 is highly overrated. Not that its BAD, but it has so much more filter than people give it credit it for and a shit beginning and finale.
>Only the Original It sparked the imagination of millions WORLD WIDE.
That's because there were 4 television channels
Original, but I like both a lot. They're very different shows in some respects.
I like a few of the films a lot but on the whole they're a bit of a letdown compared to the show. If I could I'd readily trade all of them for another season on par with TOS's first two seasons.
Why did you do my nigga worf dirty like that
DS9 doesnt have filler (for the most part) it has characters.
Im not saying that the Tranny Quark episode is by any means good or bearable, but the episode where him and Odo get stranded on an ice planet was 100% good character development. And that along with more interconnected episodes and storylines was EXACTLY what made DS9 great. DS9 had episodes like Duet in its first season, which other Trek can equal that?
But yes, I also skip the Jake and Ben go space boating episode every time.
1 and 2 is bad because it feels like TOS.
except with a crew that werent allowed to have personalities yet.
The worst of both worlds you might say
Wait TNG was shot in the 1960s
Its the 2020s
Kirk is still alive. And still milking the same role?
DS9 (which I love) literally feels more dated and has aged worse than TOS
TOS never got the horrendous treatment the TNG cast got in later years. There never was a "Kirk" show that shows William Shatner apologizing for being a White male and becoming a gay man for an android.
Also all TOS movies are good to great (TMP and Undiscovered Country), meanwhile TNG has one really good film (First Contact) and the worst before Into Darkness (Insurrection).
TNG had overall better episodes starting season 3, but everything after that sucked ass compared to TOS.
TNG has the TWO worst: nemesis and insurrection
Nemesis is fine in parts and Insurrection is just a bad bland tv two parter with boring flat cinematography, Into Darkness stays the worst movie, although after seeing writers putting in "use my correct pronouns" scenes in Discovery, I feel like Into Darkness was still better than I give it credit for.
>becoming a gay man
what about him and beverley crusher. the synagoe of satan truly wants to destroy everything good and beautiful in this world
My biggest issue with TNG is that it rarely has the same sense of danger and adventure TOS did. But it's a different kind of show, where the ensemble of the ship as characters and the purpose of the Starfleet as an institution get more attention. If TNG has any real advantage it's that from season 3 onward it attains consistency and flatly has more good material on account of lasting longer.
