This. We shouldn't have seen Bruce and Selina, only Alfred's reaction. But this ending wipes the floor with Nolan's entire trilogy anyway.
Fucking stupid. Batman should have died and the movie would have carried 10x more weight. At least make it ambiguous; maybe show that the two of them in Italy were just a figment of Alfred's imagination; a memory.
It doesn't make any sense how he'd survive and why no one in a crowded café wouldn't notice who he was.

the clock on the nuke had five seconds before detonating, before they cut to a shot of batman in the cockpit of his aircraft. So he somehow had to eject himself out of the aircraft, land in the sea, be at a safe enough distance when the nuke goes off, swim back to safety for miles and miles and arrive back at Gotham without anyone noticing. If they removed the scene where he's in the cockpit, it would make sense that he just ejected long before then, but otherwise it's impossible

It's a decent ending but fairly similar to Begins' ending. TDK ending is way better though that is god tier.
Honestly all three films in Nolan's trilogy have pretty strong endings, TDK in particular

Yeah it would have been better left ambiguous. Showing the fantasy he described actually happening was really cheesy.
Or better, shows Alfred sitting down and when he smiles cut to black. It leaves the end open and is far more subtle.
