The 1920s sucks dick.

I started watching this and only saw the first couple of episodes: I think it's extremely comfy.
When does it go to shit with woke negros?

I will watch it but not expecting too much. The show and movie maintained a good quality throughout but the earlier seasons/plots were the juiciest

I think season 5/6 a cousin fucks a black singer for a bit but I think she moves on. I’m sure I’m forgetting something but not too woke. Idk if this movie will go overboard like Bridgerton with the negrocracy, probably just more slutty behavior

Can't remember, but in one of the later seasons a secondary character starts dating a black man. The guy ends the relationship in the end, because the woman only used him as a token lover to show off how progressive her views are.

I hate Bates so much it's unreal.

But...why?

Ok I'll only watch the first four then, thanks

This is a top five show for me in all ways and the first movie could’ve been good but they chose inconsequential plots for it and Lily James being too busy to participate in the filming was a noticeable absence. This show has amazing characters though such as Mary, Barrow, Carson that compensate for some of the ones who grow more grating over time (Daisy) but each character is honestly used very well in terms of exploring some element of life back then, from a societal point, economic, moralistic, etc. The early three seasons are indeed the tightest and most intriguing and there is a noticeable regroup in the fourth season. But the show finds new paths for its characters that make it an interesting watch until the end and some of the final episodes really do hit on many satisfying levels. Show was flawlessly executed throughout its run also. Check out the film Gosford Park, which the show’s creator Julian Fellows wrote as well if you want more Great House Kino

I love the series but the first film felt pretty redundant. Mary and Violet's conversation at the end was the only part that really felt meaningful. Bringing back Carson and fucking over Thomas so he could go and have gay adventures was weird too.

I will concede however that Lady Edith has fantastic breasts in that one scene.

It never does.

There's almost an interracial relationship with a minor character but the black guy realises the girl is just being a retard and that he'd get strung up if he pursues it so he breaks it off and moves on.

There's some dumb shit in later series, but none of it is woke.

propaganda never ends
never forget that
no matter what show you're watching.
it always exists. it's endless.

I dropped the show after about 4 seasons, when they'd killed off all the most interesting characters due to their actors dropping out of the show or having their nudes leaked, or whatever.

I don't watch the show, why is there a man in a dress in the front and centre of the poster?

>Gosford Park
Thanks for the rec!

>I haven't watched the show: the post

>having their nudes leaked
Wait, what?!

No man has hands like this.

I wish they had focused on the architecture, landscaping, and day to day intricacies of the period. It seemed like that was the goal but then it just became another drama with an expensive set they avoid paying for as much as possible.

A beautiful shot. Imagine if this was the focus rather than banal romantic false intrigue.

>propaganda is okay when it happens for a few episodes and it's minor

I love that excuse. Quite popular in recent years.

Watch the DVD extras.

So you haven't watched it. Then STFU, cause you're embarrassing yourself.

>fucking over Thomas

Everybody should get a chance too. He was a cunt for so many seasons that when he eventually matured into something that isnt a complete asshole nobody gave a shit anymore.

Fuck I think I missed that.

Spotted the homo. Bates is one of the most based characters.

Yes, the show turned to absolute shit around season 4, culminating in Matthew's death which was ridiculous
But I do like re-watching the first 3 seasons, it's a good show

Annoying martyr complex and Brendan Coyle is a drunk.

>not feeling sorry for Thomas

I think that user meant another character, because you can't possibly hate Bates.

No I dont feel sorry for him. As I said, we have over 4 seasons of him being a complete dickhead to everyone around him and when bad things happen to him nobody gives a shit because hes been a cunt for so long and out stayed his welcome. Its just plain bad writing.

>it's bad writing because I don't like it
Grow up.

>Its bad writing because it's bad writing.

You don't even have the skillset to judge the quality of writing lol

Even those promo clips on youtube made me tear up already. No kidding.

Why does he need to watch it when it's right there in his face? You don't have to eat shit to know it's shit.

All padding and pushup. Actress is pretty flapjack flat. I'd rather see season 1 Daisy's tit, she was hiding a pair of amazing big ones. Than she lost them with a bunch of weight by season 2. Lame.

>whiteknighting for a /pol/tard
How low can you fall.

S1-2 are toptier comfy kino. End of s2 is the true HEA end of the show. S3 was bad. We stopped watching after a few episodes into s4 after Anna gets raped. Comfiness dropped off a cliff.

That's probably the worst arc in the entire series. Really felt like Bates misery porn for a while.

I like the cars.

>the worst arc in the entire series

That would be Tom's "IM JUST A WORKING MAN AND ITS HARD TO ADJUST TO RICH LIFE" schtick that went on for a season too long.

Also Thomas's "muh gay lifestyle isnt socially acceptable" crap. You cant feel sorry for the guy becu6ause of his behaviour to everyne over the last 4 seasons.

So dreary. It felt contrived and ruined both characters.

>contrived
Learn to use English properly. It was probably quite widespread at the time and servants had no means of bringing the upper class members to justice.

She was raped by a servant though. In any case it felt like them just piling more shit onto the most downtrodden characters.

Why Yea Forums people watch a show for old ladies?

Yea Forums IS old ladies.

You type like a Russian barbarian

old ladies have good taste. The Golden Girls and Laverne and Shirley are both kino as well

>contrived
I don't think he used the wort improperly though. Just because rape likely occurred quite frequently at the time doesn't necessarily mean such an event would fit naturally into the show's tone or plot. But then again, I haven't watched the show and was just popping in to see if it's a comfy period drama, which it's evidently not, at least beyond S2.

It's not a 100% comfy show, has never been. It has quite dark undertones especially in the first 2-3 seasons.

Attached: 2x02-0014-53deb18af666938e749b037dc487ffd5.jpg (4657x3276, 2.01M)

Honestly the tone never changes that significantly. There was always darkness and the latter half still has plenty of pleasant stuff. S3 is rough due to people not renewing their contracts and getting killed off in horrific fashion.

>O'Brien thinks Cora intends to replace her and leaves a bar of soap below her bath tub. She regrets it but is unable to warn Cora before she slips, falls, and miscarries.
The epitome of 'comfy', am I right? And that's Season 1.

Attached: shock-10.jpg (960x600, 33.81K)

The best part is she gets away with it until she fucks off for another job and is never seen again

I miss O'Brien. Why did the actress leave?

This show is almost exclusively white people, as it should be in this setting.

All these people saying that the interracial couple is the worst of it definetly overlooked Mrs. Crawley who represents first wave feminism and always has to comment on everything. Thank god for Maggie Smith shutting her down every time though. Also Branson's arc of being a hard working, working class proud Irish Republican and borderline communist to landowning aristocrat is hilarious. There's nothing in his story about 'hmm maybe we should do things for the poor', he just instantly becomes a full blooded british conservative.

The power of Lady Sybil's aristocratic pusy

I thought it Downtown Abbey for like two years. I didn't actually watch it.
