Streaming. All these services have too much money and will spend it on ideas that should have never left the drawing board. I do think shorter seasons and longer episodes are a problem too, it promotes lazy writing. Instead of snappy 40 minutes episodes they're all bloated out to an hour, but also the seasons are so short that there's no time to explore interesting plots or relationships in their own episodes.
